My sister's hotel is fully booked, (delta) so I blocked off 4 rooms at the shabby...
Fairmont Hotel MacDonald!
ok, so its not shabby at all... its actually edmonton's best hotel.
the cost is high though... its $319 a night for two people...
BUT...my sister managed to get it at 149 a night... for either a king size bed or 2 doubles. (depends the availablity when you arrive)
for pictures check this out: http://www.fairmont.com/MacDonald/
so if you are interested in some pampering, let me know, 2/room, and expect that you might have to share a bed.
there alots of ammenities, so check it out..
I probably need final confirmation by April 15th - and thats just a hard "YES IM COMING" - cost can be dealt with later
Again, once I have more info , I will update..

I think so! I have to check that date because I have another weekend booked for travel in May...just not sure which one! Will post back! Awesome idea Peggy and Cameldiva!
I would love to come - can we get an idea of hotel costs first? If anyone would like to split a room (OK I snore, sometimes...) that would be awesome.
So put me down for a 60% Yes.
I can drive anybody up from Calgary if they need a lift. I'm in the NW.
Thanks for going to the effort to organize this -
Gayle (Calgary)
depending on the hotel it will range from 99-139/night
we will most likely have our stamp venue in downtown edmonton. we are still waiting on the prices for the spaces and that will come in on monday

Peggy - turn me yellow - I am going to wait for a bit to talk to DH. I only see him every 2nd weekend, and right now it looks like he won't be home that weekend. I just want to be sure he won't mind if his shift changes and I disappear on him.

Hi Smallpigpig
My name is Judy Smiley and I am interested in your get together. As I have family in Edmonton, accommodation is not a factor. I live in Manning, AB 6 hours NW of Edmonton. Put me down as a maybe right now. My DH has to check whether or not he has booked holiday time around then or what. Will stay in touch, and let u know by the 15 of April for sure.
Hi Peggy -
Count me in as definate YES - my DH has decided he wants to tag along and do his thing during the day and then he & I at night! Mind you I get to drive alone as he is riding his motorcycle - so I'm still open to offering rides from Calgary to Edmonton if anybody needs one.
Gee, Peggy, just saw your thread. You'd think you'd have pointed it out to me!!! (I know; you're trying to keep me away!! ). No, seriously, what dates have you picked? Have you finalized them yet? Because I really want to see if I can get a cheap airfare or use frequent flyer miles. What's the abbreviation of the airport I would fly in to? Anybody want to share a non-smoking room? Thanks!;)

but i did point it out~! its on EVERY post .. and I hijacked it onthe swap club thread hahaha
the code for edmonton airport is YEG
the dates will be May12-13th
you might want to book it so its coming in on 11th, and leaving on 14th (because of you flight and time difference)
Im sure someone would share a room with you.. you can probably bunk with ruth and nancy or something

Hi Robin -
Yes we can ride together - leaving Friday and coming back Sunday???
Any chance we could get away on Friday by 2 or 3 so we could be up there by 5ish???
What part of the city do you live in? I'm in CItadel.
I'd be leaving from work at the Fanning Centre??? (Deerfoot & 16th)
Hi Cheri -
I might be interested to share a room if my DH doesn't come - what city would you be flying in from?
hahah
I know when I first met some of the scs friend IRL, we would talka bout all stamping... then you get to know them, and start to talk about other things, so Im sure it will work out fine

Gayle, if I go, can I jump in with you? I will share gas costs, leaves both of us more money for our trip to Western Educational.
I have to go to that place! The tech 3 at work has a relative (SIL I think) who owns it or something and keeps telling me to go there. Its supposed to be amazing;)

a shoebox swap is a swap you prepare for others to play with.
imagine it as prepation for a w/s. You provide the instructions and the materials for the card, put it in baggies, and throw them in a box and pass it around..

Oh OK...so are we making it one card per person? Thats kind of a neat idea
I just read your blog Peggy...I found it very funny and a blast to read! And I understand what you mean about the bikini. I have a feeling you are very tiny like me (Im 4 foot 9 and around 110 lbs)...I long to be a size 2 again too! I should make it a goal that I want to be seen in public in my chocolate brown bikini that I bought last year! Though now that Im in my thirties I find it SO hard to keep my weight down...and its only going to get harder!

dang girl.. you are tiny! Im 5'1 and well Im not going to disclose my weight.. hhaha
Im going to need to be 20-25 less to look HOT in a bikini.... i mean not that I really want to wear one, but the option of being able to is good
so with the shoebox swap lets say for example I want everyone (lets say for 10 people)to make a shaker card, i would provide "ingredients" and instructions for 10 people to participate
at the end of the day (if the math works out) you would be able to have 10 different cards in your shoebox from 10 other ladies...
of course this is not restricted for cards, it can be 3d, 6x6, 12x12 whatever, just make sure you have all the necessary supply
oh thanks for reading my blog.. its always nice to knwo that Im not writing to cyber space hehehe

Dione:
You live in Edmonton and you havn't been to Western Educational?
It *is* amazing- be prepared to be overwhelmed by the row and row of non SU stamps and inkpads and all kinds of stamping tools. I used to make the pilgrimage when I lived in Calgary. Now, I try and visit once every three or four months as I live here in Edmonton.
The ladies that work there are really nice and Cathy is an awesome instructor.
It will be worth the while.

Perhaps Western educational should be one of the outings
Yeah I am pretty short...I've always wanted to be tall and willowy instead of short and fat...but hey...in my next life it could happen. It's only fair!
