Okay - I should just go and try this to find out by myself... but I'm working and I can't! I am however working on a project in my head!
SO if you have put mod podge on a photo does it smear? Or should I just print the photo onto regular paper rather than photo paper? Thank you so much for helping me out with this - ;)
I just asked my mom this very thing!!! Great timing on your question. My mom said that its fine to do. She had mod podged some old family photos onto frames and it didn't smear them.
that was with "regular" photos, not digitally printed. I'm going to try it out on the digital print-outs from my computer for the project I'm working on. Hopefully they won't smear!

I modpodged a injet-on-photopaper printed image, and it *seemed* fine at first, but as it dried, the colors sort of shifted, and it looked like a 3d picture (you know, the red/blue) does before you put the glasses on. Weird. You may try doing one before you commit to a project.

Oooohhh thanks for the heads up on that - I'll keep it in mind!! I too wondered if you could MP on pics - I'll have to dig out some of my doubles and play around w/ it!
I haven't tried tissue paper, but I went ahead and tried just printing the picture onto regular typing paper....I had no problems with any of the ink lifting or smearing when I used the Modpodge. I have just a regular inkjet printer and used the standard HP ink.
I completely forgot to tell you how it worked out for me!
I made DH a birthday present...using a paper mache letter from Joann's and photos I printed out using my photo printer. I used photo quality paper and settings (mine happens to be a Kodak photo printer). I mod podged the photos to the paper mache as well as using the mod podge as the sealant for it all. There has been NO smudging of the photos at all.
I used a couple light coats of mod podge to cover instead of one heavy coat.
I painted Modge Podge (Matt) all over a photo I printed at home using an Epson Stylus Photo R800 printer (its an inkjet printer) on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper, and I have had no problems whatsoever. No lifting or shifting of the colours. This was several months agao now, and it still looks ok IMO
when I am using ModPodge over anything (stamped image, photo, whatever) and am afraid that it might not like the ModPodge I just give the item a quick spray seal spritz from a clear acrylic Spray Sealer (like Krylon) and then I can modpodge over it. Jan
The info for putting a finish on photos with Mod Podge is helpful, but has anyone done it with a photo collage? I've attached my photos on canvas, but have lots of rough edges because I tore the photos before gluing down. Do you think if I covered the piece with Mod Podge using a foam brush that it will finish the surface? Thanks for your input.

Reg photos work great under mod podge. I did a wooden plaque with a pic of my little daughter way back in 1972 and it is just as fresh as it was when I did it. only used mod podge.
