Lunch Tin Organizer

Hello everyone,

I have a few questions regarding the lunch tin card organizer:
1. Does anyone have the directions or a template for finishing the top of the pail? I would like to cover it with paper and was wondering how to fit it around the handle.
2. Which adhasive works best for securing the paper to the metal? Sticky tape or something else?
3. Has anyone done these as a stamp camp event? How much did you charge? What did you include?

I need to know, too. Plus, do you just tape/glue the paper on, or mod podge? Any directions, templates, advice...? I'd be so grateful! Thanks. :0)

I used Mod Podge to glue my paper on the tin Box. I painted the lid to match the paper. I just used craft paint from wall mart. Also I bought my tin from joann.com but they are currently out of stock. Where else can I buy these tins. I want to make more. thanks

I've heard you can buy the tins at Micheals. Do you have one near? When I ordered my tins from Joanns, I bought over 20 of them. I knew I loved them, and I knew I'd end up buying them sooner or later anyway. lol. Ok, so I'll hoard a few....

I use Tacky Tape and like that the best. I've tried plain Tacky Glue, which works well, but is a lot more work.
I came up with a template that works well for the top and latches. I needed to make it smaller to attach, so it will need to be resized.

A tip for the organizer dividers.
I cut card stock 4 1/4 X 6 1/2 (stamped on it).
I printed "card occations" on the computer and used my Tag Punch to punch them out.

I just did my first altered lunch tin last week at a class my demo did. She charged $35.00 for the class. That included the tin, a pack of the double sided designer paper from the Spring Mini, making the dividers, and a matching pen. I don't remember where she said she got the tins, but they ordered a bunch online. Hope that helps!

You can use the Tacky Tape or Mod Podge.

You can also use alcohol inks or alcohol and reinkers and cover it. I did this when I worked at the local scrap store and also used a silver metallic pen to marble it. It was so cute. Unfortunately, it grew feet and walked out the door.

This is a great deal for the tins. I thought I was getting a great deal when I ordered them last week for $3.84 and now I'm bummed. Oh well.

I made one of these lunch boxes a few weeks ago at LSS...they charge $35 included all supplies (paper, ribbon, lunch box, dividers). We made the box and four additional cards.

We used UHU (a gluestick)...it worked great.

How do you get the corners rounded for the square lunch tins? Do you use a corner rounder? If so, do you use the large or small SU! rounder?

Made one last week and used Elmer's Rubber Cement Glue. A little messy at first, but worked great.

I like the tins from Oriental Trading Company better. They are deeper so they hold a lot more than the ones from JoAnn's or Creative Express (Provo Craft.) Guess it just depends on what you're putting in them. And I used Modge Podge and it worked fine.

can someone tell me how people have attached the pens to the inside cover of the lunch box? Is it ribbon or just paper holding the pen in place?

I just made some lunchbox tins and used Scotch spray adhesive and it worked great. You can buy templates from thecardladies.com and they are very inexpensive. They have different templates depending on what tins you buy either Provo Craft or Oriental Trading.

I was wondering what the sku is that you use to find the tins thru Oriental trading? I have gone to their website and cannot fing them. Hope someone can help!

I just altered a tin for my ATC swap I'm in on CX and I used my Colluzle file folder template for the dividers for each month. It worked great.

i see you are into tin projects... well, that's a good way to put it. some adhesives doesn't work well on tin especially on changing weathers, better use a high grade double back industrial tape for a better adhesion. check out some links below and see to it how tin's behave.
