Default Which punches do I NEED!

Hi all,

I saw this posting on the Papertrey site today and I need help! Which punch sizes do I need? I've seen a lot of examples here on splitcoast using the very large sizes of ovals and circles - but I'm not EXACTLY sure which sizes would be the best.

Please let me know what you think - what you have and what you LOVE! (Ideas of what stamp sets fit INSIDE the punches would help too!)

Thanks SOOOOOO much!
Andra

Great question! I was also wondering if they also had the stamps that would cut the shapes that go inside of the scalloped punches.

It is a new company, started by Nichole Heady (you can find a link to her blog at the bottom of Papertrey's website). She comes out with a new stamp set on the 15th of each month. And I've heard they're excellent quality! If they weren't on backorder, I'd order some...

And yes, I'm no help...you need all the punches. I have the Mega and Giga in Oval Circle and Square...and I find quite often that I wish I had something smaller. So I'll be adding those to my collection...

Default Another thing...

I forgot to see if people often get the solid smaller shape to layer inside the scalloped shape. Please share your thoughts!

really.. you want an opinion! from us? all the enablers?

Get them ALL if you can afford them!!

I have one oval, two circles and one square.. all are fantastic.. But make sure you get the ones that say "lever" on them. There are others that are old punch style and they are more difficult to use.

The square is versatile because you can punch it twice and make multiple sizes of rectangles. LOVE IT! check the gallery.

I personally think the ovals are my favorite.

FUN. thanks for the info! PaperTrey is great!

Love Papertrey! Great company with great service. Love the quality of their stamps, too. I have the 3 giga scalloped ovals (square, circle, oval) and a few megas (one scalloped, two not). I have been using the Coluzzle to cut out my "mega" oval. The punches are expensive, so I only buy about one every 4-6 months or so.

I think you "need" the giga and mega scallops in whichever shape you like most. I use them all. I still need mega scallops in circle and oval, so I'm not sure how soon I'll be buying the scalloped hearts and rectangles. :-)

I have the mega and giga scalloped ovals, circles, and squares. I think choosing which shapes to go with depends on what stamps you want to use in them. I'd be willing to send you one of each so you can get an idea of the size. I also have a regular mega circle...haven't gotten the regular oval though because it doesn't 'look' quite right. Still needing to get the coluzzle for that. Anyway...PM me if you're interested in having me send you a punch of the ones I have!

I could have nearly written this myself....first PaperTrey is AMAZING....love, love, love them...can't say enough about them...from quality of product to their fantastic customer service.

if you have to choose one size, i'd say choose the giga. i have the giga in oval, square and circle. now i'm collecting the megas. so far i have the circle and square. i also second the comment about using the coluzzle to cut your layers. this works wonders and is great if you don't have the exact punches you need.

i personally don't think i'll be buying the heart...tho, i'm sure i'll be proved wrong.... not much of a heart gal... and you can always punch two squares and layer them to make a rectangle. saves a bit of money till you can afford them all!

I would recommend giga and mega. I have them in the scalloped circle, square and oval. I have the oval mega and circle. I love them!!! I don't know if I will buy much smaller sizes. I'm sure I will buy the hearts, can't visualize much right now but I love hearts and I am sure I will see great ideas here! BTW, I have two of the Papertrey sets, I really like them! Well worth the $ and so fun to use!! HTH

I am deciding the same thing myself. I think I am going to buy the Giga & Mega scalloped punches in both the circles & ovals. Then buy the Mega & Super Jumbo plain circle & oval to fit inside the scalloped ones. I have the square scalloped punches already.

The mega plain circle/oval fits into the giga scalloped. The super jumbo plain circle/oval fits into the mega scalloped.

Hope that helps! I am so excited now that I finally decided to get (or try to) them.

This is what I have and love. The Giga Scallop circle and the Mega Plain circle to layer inside. I also have the Mega Scallop circle and I need to get the plain circle in whatever is the next size down to layer inside. I have the Giga and Mega oval that I layer inside each other. I didn't like how the plain oval looked with the scallop ovals cuz the shapes are a little off. I have the Giga Scallop Square and the Mega Plain square to layer inside. I'm excited about Papertrey Ink offering the punches and will get the one's in smaller sizes that I need. HTH
