Default Fun question...

How many stamp sets did you mount before you realized you could remove the name of the set and put that on the container, too? Anyone? (or was it just me <g>)

I did about 5 before I figured it out....lol! Now when I do a demo, I tell all of the attendees BEFORE they buy their sets!

It had to be over 15. And the only reason I ever discovered that's what that label was for was when I purchased an already mounted set from someone on Ebay. It now drives me insane that I have a good number of stamp sets w/o a label.

Let's see...about 20 before my demo was showing me one of her sets and said" oh by the way did you know you could do this?"....then I learned! =)

Probably 5-10!! Then I read it somewhere that those were there. I tease my friend/upline about it every now and then but I remember to tell my customers about it so they don't have to worry.

I don't know how many sets but I figured it out when I was at my uplines for a group meeting and went in to her office to get something. I was standing there looking at all her stamp sets and wondering where she got those labels. I felt so dopey when I realized that I had them too - but I threw them away

I'll tell you something that'll make you feel better...the girl that introduced my sister and me to SU! used to THROW away her stamp boxes/containers. We had to tell her she should be using them to keep the stamp sets together. She probably had thrown a good 5 or 6 boxes out by the time she asked us why we were keeping ours in boxes. She eventually replaced them with some inferior boxes she'd found at a packaging store.

I made surer I then labeled the ones without name!

None Thanks to my then consultant, now upline (Hi Betty) She is the greatest. At the very first workshop I went to she was the consultant. She showed us how to cut and mount our stamps. She also showed us to write our name on each stamp along with the name of the set and how many were in the set IE 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, 4 of 4. Then she showed us to put the label with the name of the set on the box. She's the best. I have an out of state friend who got into stampin at the same time as me. Her consultant did not show her any of that. When I went to see her, she showed me her stuff. Well all of her stamps were mounted UNCUT!!! She had no clue!

My first demo gave me the hint the first workshop I went to. However, I put them on the top lid for a long time. then realized if I put them on the side, I could see them when they were stacked.

Wow...I just counted the ones of mine that have no label....16! That's more than I thought. I realized sometime before I became a demo that the labels came with the stamp sets. The sad thing is I had been in a stamping club for about a year. No one had ever told me this before.....I just happened to notice once at stamp club how nice my demo's stamps were labeled. I had been throwing my labels away. Oh, well. I still need to label those things.

I am so jealous of everyone with thorough demos! Now I just hope i remember to tell everyone. I was real slow at mounting (GACK - cut that brandy new set of stamps? All of them? ) at first, so I only threw out about 5 labels.

I didn't know either until I asked a question on this site to figure out one of my stamp sets so I could look up samples in the gallery. Demos - please tell your buyers.

Blue Peanut - I love your hello kitty!!!! Wish I could find something fun like that!

I had about 4 sets before I realized. But I found clear labels that you can print on the computer and I fixed my mistake!

I think I figured it out with the very first set I mounted,so I did'nt throw any labels away. But used to put the label on the top instead of the side. With those i just used my label maker & made new labels for the side.

My story is kind of funny, too. I actually picked up my first SU set at a yardsale - new, unmounted, about 6 years ago. It sat in my craft room until 3 years ago when I was introduced to SU. I checked the set out of curiosity and realized I had a SU set all that time! I had never been a stamper, never even attended a workshop when I signed up to become a demo.

Well, here I was, waiting desperately for my kit to arrive, playing with foam stamps and inferior ink pads (all I had on hand) when I discovered my treasure. I peeled off the backing and stuck each SQUARE onto the wooden blocks (I was clueless about trimming them  ) and then I threw the stickers away!

Later that evening, I was talking with my SIL who had introduced me to the SU catalog, complaining about the way my stamps were working when she told me:
#1 - To trim them and
#2 - To put the $%@#&@ stickers on!!!

Needless to say, I ended up using an exacto knife to try to trim off the excess (had no idea about the microwave trick!) and I dug through the trash for the stickers! Thank goodness I learned my lesson BEFORE my kit arrived!

As for using the set name, once I dug the stickers out of the trash, I thought "Hey, I'll stick this on the box, too!"

Sorry to say but it as a long time for me. My demo at the time before I became a demo never let me know! I figured it out after I signed up. All those old sets now have the name and amount of stamps written in sharpie!!

Only a handful, I think. I'll probably print out opaque white labels on my computer, though, because some of the sets have really small, italicized print that's hard to read when the label is see-through. This wasn't as much of a problem with my sets from a couple of years ago, but I have to really squint at my 2004 SAB sets to see what they are -- and I have virtually 20-20 vision!

I did four before I figured it out! I started putting a piece of white cs behind the name of the set so I could see the names better 'cause I have trouble seeing the black letters in the dark. My room isn't too bright. I'm glad I'm not the only one who threw away the labels!

I don't have any sets missing the name as I noticed the first time. My demo (now my upline) showed how to cut & mount a stamp at my workshop. She explained about the stickers. Well, my mother in law was NOT paying attention and was going to throw her stickers away! She said she didn't know there were stickers. I told her she should have been paying attention and to read the directions (she NEVER reads directions, and she's a teacher!). So, I just finished cutting & mounting all of her stamps because I didn' want her to ruin them. All of a sudden I feel like I want to cut ever customers stamps (those that don't have our rubber scissors) because I am worried they will do it wrong. That's so crazy. I'm not going to do it though, just feel lik I should!!
