OMG!!!! I just tried the Fiskars texture plates in my new cuttlebug and it WORKED beautifully!!!! I got the piece of shower pan liner in plumbing dept and cut out 6x8 and followed the "sandwich" receipe. OMGGGG I am soooo excited!!! Now I have like 35 different textures, I have 24 of Fiskars and then 11 cuttlebug big folders and then I have a bunch of little cuttlebug folders!!!!!!! I'm sooo excited and happy!!! I gotta give my DH some lovin' tonight!!!
Jess, I'm doin' the dance of joy with you! I remember how incredibly excited I was when I got mine to work. I'd had 3 sets sitting on a shelf for years. Now I can actually put them to use. WOOHOO!

I have bunches of them I've been wanting to use as well. Would you share how you got it to work? I've never heard anything about a "shower pan liner". Did you have to mist your paper first?

Okay, you will need to go to Lowes or Home Depot (I got it from Lowes) to get the shower pan liner (rubber) in plumbing dept. Just ask someone in plumbing dept for "shower pan liner" and he will cut it from a roll. The smallest they will cut is 1 foot x 3 or 4 feet and you only need 6"x8". It's cheap like $5 something anyway.

Plate �A�,
Fiskars texture Plate,
Cardstock (right side towards texture plate),
Rubber Plate (shower pan liner material),
Plate �C�

I haven't made a card using Fiskars yet... I will definitely post as soon as I come up with one. As for the embossing part, it's not as deep as cuttlebug folders but deep enough and very crisp looking.

I have 'Picture Plates' a Tupperware Tuppertoy from the early 90s - a set of 6textured picture outlines with several different textures on the reverse side. They came with a crayon holder which the child was to clip a crayon into it sideways and rub over paper laid on top of the plate. I just tried the castle picture and it worked - very cool!!! There's also a barnyard, outer space scene, sailboat, race car, a house and jungle. Oh Boy, I am having even more fun...

Looks like I'll be shopping for shower pan liner and Fiskars plates! Has anybody come up with any uses for the extra shower pan liner?
I found 6 inch squares of plumbers gasket in 2 different thicknesses at Lowes. They were around $1 each. I bought both since I wasn't sure which would work...

Is there any way to do this without a cuttlebug / other dicut rolling machine?
Like can you do it with a rolling pin? I thought I read something about that but now I don't remember.
How does the shower pan liner help with this?

I am so happy to find this thread! I've been on the fence with the Cuttlebug. Just can't decide if I want to go there (I don't use my Cricut nearly enough and it makes me feel guilty...). But, I went to a shoebox swap this weekend and the most gorgeous card was made with Fiskars texture plates (check out Arlington TX Swap by TXGrandmaX6 at Splitcoaststampers and of course, it's even better IRL). Because the texture plates weren't a huge investment, I went ahead and bought them. Such a great deal to get a dozen templates for about $13, and I really like the designs. Got the little tool to do them with, too.
So you know where I'm going with this, right? That hand embossing just isn't going to happen... So this thread is just adding fanning the Cuttlebug flame. I'm getting weaker...

I have 2 sets of the Fiskars Texture Plates - but foudn out I cannot stand to hand dry emboss. I even purchased the fancy 3 point Fiskars dry embosser meant to fit comfortably in your hand.... yeah.... until you're 1/2 way through the embossing and your hand starts to cramp around it!
So - now I own the Bug, 10 Bug Embossing folders, and shower gasket LOL
The Bug embossing folders are much deeper and clearer - but the Fiskars work and now I can actually USE them instead of just storing them!

What is shower pan liner like? How thin, thick and is it flexible? Can you describe what it looks like? TIA
It is a sheet of rubber. Instead I just got 2 6 inch squares of rubber (plumbing gasket I think it is called) at Lowes. they had 2 thicknesses and as I wasn't sure which one I really needed, bought both - they were $1 or less each. And I have used both of them at different times, depending on what I was running through the bug...
Thanks. I too have those Fiskars texture plates and was completely unable to do it by hand, so to do it thru my Cuttlebug is thrilling! I have some foam - rubber like stuff leftover from some Pergo-like flooring we put down, I wonder if that would work too. I will have to try it...

This is what worked for me, too. I got both thicknesses and tried the thinner one with the C plate, and it was too tight - did not want to risk breaking my little toy. I JUST tried the thicker mat with the B plate, and it worked SUPER!

You need the shower pan liner as a soft layer to help with the embossing process, but it cannot be as soft as a mouse pad, which is why the rubber layer works. I used plumber's gaskets - they come in two sizes. One post mentioned she used the thin one with Plate C, but I used the thicker one and Plate B.
I suppose you could try a rolling pin and lots of elbow grease (I have no upper body strength...). Try a flat surface, like a counter top, then the Fiskars texture plate, then card stock. That's where you'd put the rubber gasket followed by another hard surface. I do not know if you could use the rolling pin on the rubber gasket and get the same effect or not - never tried it. Also, you'd have to figure out a way to keep it from shifting on the counter top. Maybe try a damp dish towel as your first non-skid layer - cooks do it all the time with mixing bowls!

I have all of the fiskars templates (got this awesome pack of all of them, including the fancy embossing tools with the 3 balls AND the regular stylus) at Superstore for $30 Canadian, but again, they are still sitting there unused for the same reasons that you guys had before the cuttlebug!
How much is a cuttlebug? You can only do standard card sizes with the embossing folders though, right? I don't know...that just doesn't seem worth it to me because then it can't be used for scrapbooking...can you convince me otherwise?;)
I have read that the fun foam stuff works well for the fiskars plates, have any of you tried it?? I don't have the 'bug [YET]..evil grin...only the sizzix machine which is quite heavy to lug around and you have to push your stuff through instead of the roller on the 'bug. What d'ya think? Do I need the cuttlebug and sell my sizzix?? Can you use your coupon on the bug anywhere??

I'm headin' to Lowe's!! Not only do I have a few texture plates, but I have those Fashion Plates rubbing plates from my childhood and also the Bratz fashion plates. Oh, how cool would it be to make sassy cards with the Bratz embossed on the front!!!
