Really? I loved Atonement. Definitely one of my all-time favourite books. Well, actually, I wasn't that thrilled with the middle of the book, but I thought the first part was fabulous, and the last third was really good. And the ending took me totally by surprise.

Both my book clubs read this and some people loved the beginning the best and others weren't crazy about the beginning, but loved the rest of it. I've only read a few McEwans, but so far I think he's brilliant.
