Default Sizzix Personal machine...Do you have one? Do you like it?

I have a friend that has the Sizzix side kick, but I thought that the Persoan sized die cut machine and the converter would give me more options. What do you suggest? The side kick or the reg. size? I'm going to place an order in the next few min. but want advice.

Also- do any of you have any of the letter sets? I may be getting Fruit Smoothies - letters and shawdows? Is this a good one?

Hi Sarah! I see you are in SE Kansas. I am in Salina. Small world, huh? Anyway, I own both Sizzix machines. I got both for Christmas. There are a lot more dies you can get for the larger machine and yes you can get a converter so you can use the smaller ones also. I do use both machines and like them, though. If I just need to cut out a couple of things, it is easier to get out the small one and use it instead of getting out the larger, heavier one. If I had to choose just one, I would probably get the larger one with the converter, though. I think it will be a little more versatile. Just my honest opinion.

Honestly, I RARELY use mine. I only have 3 die templates for it. I haven't invested much $$ in to it.

My mother has the sizzix along with the converter for the sizzlets and embossing dies. She swears by it. She prefers the sizzlets over the standard dies because she can tranport them more easily due to their weight. She also says that you can use it with just about any non-sizzix die too! I think so is crazy, but she has alot, and I mean alot, of money invested in it. I don't know of a die she doesn't have.

Personally, I am afraid of getting one because it could easily empty my pocketbook. She says that the sizzix website frequently has coupons and dies on sale. Ebay is also a great place to get bargains on the dies.

I have the regular Sizzix and love it... I don't use it as often as I would like but when I do I'm 100% satisifed. As for the weight of the sizzix, it is quite heavy however when I transport it I use a canvas bag and it's not too bad. I don't have any alphabets becuase of the cost but would love some! Good luck! I personally don't think I would like the sidekick because you have to crank it... I don't know much about it...

I prefer the regular Sizzix ... mainly because I prefer the big (original) dies and because I can do everything with the regular one that I can do with the Sidekick, but not everything with the Sidekick that I can do with the regular one. I have difficulty cutting SU cardstock with the Sizzlet dies. I also like to cut more than one sheet at a time (and use cork, foam, etc!!). I use my Sizzix often and just bought a ton of new dies (for Bible school stuff).

Thanks for the advice and info ladies! I just processed my order...I got the bigger machine, the converter and the Smoothie letter set. I can't believe I actually bought it, but my husband said to go ahead. How often do we hear that? The Shop At Home network has their stretch payment plan, so I'm doing that. It didn't feel as bad to do it that way. I can't wait to get them. I'm so excited!!

Sarah -- Congrats on your new toy! I LOVE my Sizzix -- just used it tonight to do a title for a scrapbook page. I'll never buy sticker letters again!
I bought the regular sizzix instead of the sidekick because I thought it was more versatile. And I buy my alphabets on ebay -- MUCH cheaper~!
