Default Craft show stamped cards - detail advice?

My MIL has a booth at a craft fair coming up, and I was thinking about sharing it with her, and selling some stamped cards. I've never done this before, though, and don't know where to start! Simple cards or fancy? With matching envelopes or plain? SU envies or WalMart cheaper ones? Should I include anything else paper-craft oriented besides cards? And how to price them???

Obviously, I'm in a bit over my head here. I would appreciate any advice you could share

Thank you!
Susan

I have done a craft show every year for the past 7 yrs. Its great now because I can stamp cards. I have done that for the last 3 yrs and will be again this year. I use the cheaper envelopers and I do stamp them to match...habit. I package some in sets ans others singles. I stamp crayon kids on white in black ink and put a colored c/s for the back and put 5-6 in a plastic box with a box of 8-12 crayons and sell as a set. Go for it I say! I love doing this. Unfortunately I got tendonitis in my thumb and haventy been able to do much stamping! I hope it gets better real soon! My craft show is in November! Have fun Stephanie

Default Craft Shows

I did one last year and I didn't sell any single cards. I only sold 2 sets of Christmas Cards. However I sold 240.oo worth of other stamped items. My best sellers were post-it-note holders and menopausal survival kits ( with m&m's).
I think the reason, was how I had them displayed. I just had them in those plastic containers made by Sterile. I'm going to do another one next Saturday. I'm going to use baskets and other items to hold cards. I think a lot of people didn't realize what they were.I have a Longenberger basket demonstrator friend who said she would fix me up too. She will have a booth next to me. Hopefully it will help her out too. You have to have something to draw their attention.
I was selling the cards for 2.50-3.00 each. I think I sold the Christmas cards for 6 for 10.00.
I use a lot of embellishments. Some more than others.
This year I'm only having to pay 20.00 to set up at a church craft show. I was thinking about selling them for 2.00 each.
I was asked about Thank You card sets and Invitations.
I also use Office Max envelopes. I wait and catch them on sale. I buy a lot.
I also stamp the envelopes to match or coordinate with the cards. I put them in plastic bags. I usually take a ziploc bag and cut the ziplock off and tape down. If I put a saying in the card, I put the saying on a piece of paper and slide it in where the front of the envelope and the saying can be seen if the card is turned over.
Hope this helps. Good Luck to you.

Thank you both for your feedback. It's very helpful, and confidence-building (am feeling a bit unsure about this).

And, I have to know - what are menopausal survival kits?? These sound too cool!!! Please share I have a couple of friends that would really enjoy these.

Default Craft Shows

I got the idea for the menopausal survival kit from
www.kimstamps.com
I set up with my friend who makes dolls. She had made a Hot Flash Hattie doll and also sold Hot Flash Hattie Fans. I put the kits on the same table.
I will try to scan one and put it in the gallery.
She has many ideas on different kinds of kits. The craft fair I did was in the fall last year and I also did the blessings kit. However, it did not work too well. The bugles got stale with the raisins I used as the dried fruit.
Good Luck!
