I just couldn't contain it any longer!! I'm so excited !! I officially signed up last night with my demo, Patty (whom I love, she's wonderful) !! I'm also looking forward to joining the demonstrator's forum to get even more great advice !! I had my first meeting last night and the energy I pulled from the other demos was great ! Anyway, just wanted to share my good news with everyone and also thank everyone who gave me advice about what extras I would need after my kit and what stamps to pick. You guys are great !!
Congratulations! I know how exciting it is when you sign on the dotted line :p I just did it this past February! The hardest part is waiting to get your demo number and your kit ;) but once you do, you will have so much fun playing with your new stuff and exploring the demo website!
I just signed up as a demo last Friday as well. Anxiously waiting for my kit. I have a meeting on Sunday -- Hope it is as great as yours was! How long does it usually take to get your number? Do you get everything at once? (kit and number) Or do they e-mail you the number in advance?
I have sooo many questions... a little nervous as well as excited in the same breath...
Would like to hear from others that have already gotten a head start!!
Things to do while waiting for the kit
start up tips
Besides Kit what accessories to get first
success stories....
Is there templates for making the best use of card stock for Make-n-Takes/swaps out there? (for layering and things)
I know what you mean about being impatient. Patience is not one of my virtues but it something I'm always trying to pursue. :p
I'd also love to hear MORE advice about what to get over and above your kit.
Some of the things that were suggested to me:
a cutter
dazzling diamonds
extra paper in the colours of the first few cards your doing
blender pens
a few embleshments (spelling?)
I can't make a huge initial investment so I thought this was a great starting point and will build from there, ie. more inks, stamps, markers, etc, etc, etc
I have to be careful because I'm doing this to suppliment some income and not just to supply the hobby that I love

Post or PM me!!
Just signed on the dotted line on Thursday...So far I have done...
1. Made an inventory spreadsheet of all of the products in the current Idea Book (took me 5 hours to type it in...)
2. Made a "first order" list of things I need...includes ebellishments, some different colored card stock, blender pens...etc.
3. Made a list of business things I need...account ledger to keep track on income/expenses, filing box/cabinet, pens...etc.
4. Made a wish list of items in the Idea book that I WANT.
5. Driving my DH nuts talking about it...I have ZERO patience right now because I am SOOOOO excited.
I have been thinking about signing up as a demo... my concern is that we live in a small town and we already have an active demo here... do you think that would be rude of me to sign up toooo... how would that work any suggestions anyone? has anyone been in the situation?
Congrats and good luck to all you new demos! You are going to LOVE it! I mostly love getting the 'inside scoop' on all the new promotions. The Stampin' Success magazine and SU! website are the other great perks!
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm excited for you!! If I would have realized the benefits of being a demo when I first started stamping, I would have signed up WAY before I did!!!!
Wow Jenn!! You wrote down everything from the Catty??
What are you plans for the spreadsheet.. if I may ask?
That sounds interesting...
I may look at doing that for the New one... 5 hours... sheesh .. I am not that good of a typer ....It may take me WAAAAY longer!!
I mailed my paperwork 5 min ago!!! I am so excited! I have been excitedly reading all of the above posts...thank you to everyone for your tips... I was thrilled when my introduced me to this site and it is what really made me take the plunge. I can already see that it is going to be a huge source of support.
Jen, I think I'll take your advice and make that list...sounds like it could be VERY helpful! I already did my wish list and first order list... yikes! What can I say, I'm hooked! DH had no idea what he was getting into when he encouraged me to sign on!
Since I have had this addiction for card making and scrapbooking Before being introduced to SU, I have collected a lot of "hardware" from other vendors...punches, sizzors, cutters, eyelet setters..etc...
I have a question....
do you just kinda make due with these items you already have... or start selling them off to others and buying the SU equivalent of these items.. and then again there is the fact that SU does not have a lot of punches...I really like the eyelet set I already have... (comes in a tin case) & I love my
Carl Cutter --- but am also looking at getting the 3 track Fiscars cutter... for more presise cuts... stuff to consider....
I really dont want to have 2 of each either... waaay to expensive.
How do you deal with this?
while I am yacking...do all you Seasoned Demonstrators cut out your make N takes with some kind of pattern/template or just start measuring each and every square and layer and one by one cut them out...
Since I have just signed up... I have not done nor seen anyone get ready for a Hostess party. To me that seems so hard, not to have a template or something where you can cut the paper in multiples at a time...or have some kind of template to maximize your useage of a single sheet...
(does this make sense??)

(Sorry to have so many questions....)
Thanks for any help in advance...
My upline tells me there is a lot of information on the SU! demo site and the demo forum here is full of suggestions and information. Now, if I could only muster up some patience...
heheheh Jenn... thats my problem.. I have no paitence I guess... hehehe
That spreadsheet ROCKS, Jenn. You are awesome! I have done a similar thing with my Scrapbooking Inventory at home... I have a Palm Pilot that I carry with me everywhere.. so that when I am shopping and come across some cool piece of hardware (yes thats my weakness) Like a punch or sissor or something.. I can look and see if I already have that ..... cause its very hard to keep track if you have an inch circle punch or the 1/4 inch or the 1/2 inch circle etc.... heheh after I duplicated buying things a couple times.. I KNEW I needed an inventory sheet for everything, including magazines and books, I purchased.
I have in that spreadsheet a Stampin Up TAB.... But I only have the things that I purchased...not the entire listing.... but I can see how you split it up how that would come in very handy!!!
I am impaitently awaiting my demo number so I can get in those forums.... I think I want that Number more than the KIT right now... :( Does anyone know how long it will be before we get the number? oooops there goes the paitence again.... sorry!!!
Keep trying... I am sure it will be soon.. we had to send ours in about the same time....
Now I feel bad.... :(
AWWW, don't feel bad, you seem closer than I am (I think)...I will try this afternoon...this was the earliest I even thought it would be ready anyway...
I'm going to ask that question on the demo forum once I can officially join but for right I'm planning on selling off my old stamps (I stamped for about a year with non SU stamps), cutters, chalks, inks, etc. I'm not in a position to buy the farm, so to speak, with purchasing supplies with SU but I think its important to use as much SU as possible and then build from there. It's hard to sell a product if you're not using it yourself. There will be some things that will have to wait but I intend to make mention of that in my workshops, that my goal is to replace what I have with SU since the quality is better. The things that SU doesn't sell I will continue to use as that just makes sense. Right now I'd rather have the money to sink back into the business and if that means selling some stuff so I can replace it with SU than that's fine with me.
Keep Smiling, I'm sure this will all work out
Corinne
I just gave my papers to my demo last night. I'm here in Canada...does anyone know how long I will have to wait for my demo number? I'm assuming it won't be as speedy as it is in the U.S.
Jenn, you are AMAZING! Thank you so much for the spreadsheet! It will be such a big help! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, I can see that it was a big job for you.

THANK YOU!!!
You gals are a trip...my dh just laughed at me the whole time I was doing it. My friends all say I am obsessed with organization...what can I say...I like to be organized and I am glad to share...
Thanks Corinne..
Yeah the more I think about it... I will be selling off some stuff in order to replace it with better quality SU things. I really didnt want to at first... but it just makes sense. Also there is no reason to stop "playing" with the toys I already have that SU does not.

Welcome to SU!!! It took almost a week to get my number...and about 15 days to get the kit (the UPS man saw Hilary jumping up and down in the window when it arrived!!! He commented that "someone" is quite excited to get the package!!). I suspect it could take a bit longer since there are so many taking advantage of the cheaper kit. Normally, I get my orders in 8 days from when I enter it online, all things being good.
You are welcome to come over and play anytime you want if you can't wait for everything to arrive <grin>!!!
See you!
Cindy

well when you get your number you can track your starter kit in OEX on the SU website. There is also a trick to looking at the new Summer mini on the website too
