All you blog candy givers out there might like to know about this one. This is a great site for picking a number/name out of a hat. http://random.org/sform.html
There is also a random number generator on excel--if you don't want to be connected to the web when you need a random number.
The function is =RAND(), and it will give you a value between 0 and 1 which you then can multiply by the number of people in your drawing to give you your winner. You will need to use this multiple times for multiple winners. Clear as mud?!?
Step by step example for 100 people in your drawing:
1)type =RAND()*100 in the first box. Answer is your first winner.
2)type =RAND()*100 in the second box. Answer is your 2nd winner
Continue for the number of winners you need. Change the 100 to whatever number of entries you need.
(One more technical note--you need to round to the nearest whole number...example: 78.444 is 78 whereas 78.672 is 79)
Yes, using excel is more confusing than that very easy to use website--but just in case it were to disappear, you would have a backup option!
