WET BRAYER TECHNIQUE
Hi:
I'm glad you liked the card, it's actually an old technique created by one of the design team members of Rangers Industry about 5 years ago. She discovered it trying to clean her brayer and came up with beautiful backgrounds on scrap paper. I haven't done it in several years but one of my favorites.
WET BRAYER TECHNIQUE:
First ink the side of your brayer (about 1/3 of it) with Stampin' Up! Pretty In Pink Craft Pad. Ink the other side with Barouque Burgundy. So now you should have two sides of your brayer inked leaving a bland space in the middle about 1-1/2 " wide. Take a cosmetic sponge (or small ink cube - pigment/metallic gold) and dip one end into a puddle of Encore Metallic Gold refill. Dap the ink onto the bland space on your brayer. Now you have sort of a rainbow effect on your brayer starting with Pretty In Pink, Metallic Gold and Baroque Burgundy. Take an empty spray bottle and fill with about 2 ounces of water and 1 tsp of dishwashing detergent. Shake it up and spritz your brayer. Make sure you hold your brayer in a horizontal position or the colors will run into each other and get muddy. Spray enough water so that it drips off the brayer. Quickly brayer onto a piece of cardstock (doesn't have to be glossy) in quick short strokes, turning your paper in different directions and pushing the watered ink around. Don't do long strokes or over brayer or you will blend the colors too much which will give you a brown look. I would first practice on copy paper until you get the look you like.
Also try these colors together.. Night of Navy, Brocade Blue and Silver Metallic Pigment Ink.
Have Fun.
