MAR07VSNB 7:00PM - Chat Thread em-BOSS RESIST
MAR07VSNB 7:00pm EST Ready to go, but your Boss Resists!
Hosted by Rhondag
Emboss Resist: Were all ready for our VSN Vacation Getaway, but unfortunately were not on our way yetYour VSN Vacation itinerary is set, your bags and stamping supplies are packed, and coconut-scented sunscreen is in your hand. So whats the problem?
Similar to real life vacations.your em-Boss Resists.too much work remains to be done! As your ~bossy~ Vacation Vixen, I have to ask you to do my challenge before you set sail.
My challenge is to incorporate the Embossing Resist technique into your card. That is the only requirement, and you will be on your way to Vacation Nirvana!
This technique requires you to choose your cardstock base, (I used Whisper White in the Find Joy example and Naturals Ivory in the Touch of Nature/Bluebird example.) then stamp your image with Versamark ink.
Next cover the images with clear embossing powder, shake off the excess powder and heat the embossing powder until shiny with your heat tool. After letting the cardstock cool for a few minutes (theres just enough time to put the excess powder back in your container), use a sponge (or stipple brush or brayer) to cover your card stock with classic ink. The embossed images will resist the ink and when you wipe the image with a paper towel, your images will remain the original color of your cardstock. The next step is to create your card.
In the bluebird example, after embossing the French Script background, I wanted a bit more emboss resist technique on the card. I used the Saran Wrap technique (wadded up Saran Wrap) to put a bit of Versamark around the Bluebird image. Then I used Emboss Resist to create a texture background around the image that my husband thought looked like clouds. So it doesnt necessarily even have to be an actual image that you emboss.
A great tutorial for this technique by Beate Johns is available here on SCS. It also shows that the embossing buddy can be used to help keep stray bits of embossing powder off of your cardstock for a professional finish. Here is a link to that tutorial: Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
I hope you enjoy this challenge, and I cant wait to see your creations! Have fun!
Uploading Instructions:
You have 45 minutes to complete this challenge.
If you are using additional keywords, you must separate them with a comma.

It is recommended that you post a link to your creation in the chat thread just in case the gallery is being testy.
If you have any questions, Ill be available . Happy Stamping !
I made my DH feel bad that I don't have any embossing stuff yet so he may let me get it soon. I can't wait to see the results though. Can you believe I've never ever embossed?

Oh yes, tell him I said you ~need~ it. I love embossing of all kinds.
question.....are we linking our cards anywhere like we do for the challenges now that the galleries don't work....or are the galleries working for VSN???

Well, it just took me 14 minutes to get my card uploaded - will stick to the 45 minutes to do card, but no way with the site this slow, can I do it and post it in 45 minutes. Frustrating!!!!
Thanks
