I posted this also in "General Discussion" but I'm not sure it might be better suited here. Anyway...I'm seriously thinking of becoming a demo but would like to know what over and above items that I would need to purchase besides the demo starter kit. I'd like to start with the absolutely necessary "extras" and build as the business builds. I'd really love to do that but I don't want to have a high start up cost. Hope this makes sense and thank you in advance for your help.
I agree with the paper trimmer, if you don't already have one. Other than that, the starter kit is designed for you to have enough to do a couple of workshops and all of the samples and idea they give you, you can duplicate with what is in the set.
It's so great to know I can get started with the kit and a few extras and just continue to build on what I already have. I know I will replace my "other" stuff with SU but can use it temporarily as the business grows. Thanks again for your help, every little bit counts tremendously :p
I'd suggest an assorted paper pack in the 3 color families that don't come with your kit. It's the least expensive way to get a sample of every color. It also lets you try out colors and dicover which ones you really use. You can order them with your first workshop order and get an extra discount on them.
As for supplies, I found I needed catalogs and mini catalogs, and order forms not long after I signed up, as I had used up all I had gotten in my starter kit.
Other than that, I think you could easily get away with just ordering supplies and accessories as you needed/wanted them.
Just something to think about:
If you wait until July, your kit will include catalogs for next year and the new colors (in the inks, cardstock, pastels, and paper).
Thanks for your feedback. Although it probably would make sense to wait till July....I just can't wait It's only April now and I think it might be a good idea to get a good feel for what I'm learning now and feel even more confident with customers when the new stuff comes out in July. Does that make sense?

I just posted a thread in the general discussion asking about which stamp sets to get in my demo kit? I already own..simple somethings, sincere saluations, watercolor garden II, wonderful words, and lovely as a tree. I'd love your advice
Good Luck with your decission. I have never ever had any regrets about becoming a demo. Stampin' Up! is such an awesome company and so great to all of us demos.
You shold have everything you need in the starter kit. You will pbobably want to order the things that you use up. Like paper and adhesive refills. That is really the only extra expenses.

I have been so wonderfully overwhelmed with everyone's help. I have a wonderful demo that I'll be signing with but everyone's help on Split Coast has made my decision done with even more confidence. Thank you for your help, I really am very thankful for everyone's advice.
