take 1/4 sheet of cardstock. Stamp it the way you want it.

You *must* use something like Sticky Strip, Scrappy Glue or some other type of tacky type glue--mono won't work.

Then roll it so it looks like a toilet paper tube and glue the long end.

When dry, pinch one open end shut and glue it.

Fill with whatever you'd like to fill it with, then take the other end and pinch it shut in the opposite direction of the other end, and glue it shut.

After the ends I dry, I crimp them to make them look more "real"

I've added a visual so you can see....

I use them for a hostess "goodie". They get to pick one out of the bunch and I might have some brads or a mini coupon for a service or a small percentage or free shipping, etc. in there.

Just an FYI. Any size rectangle, that will fit in your crimper will work. I forgot my crimper at a demo this month so we just used the sticky tape. And, everyone loved it. Of course it would have been much better with the crimper....but you do what you have to do.

I love this idea! Thanks for posting the picture for those of us who are visual learners. As a new stamper, I just started browsing around on this website. I don't know how I'm going to keep all these ideas in my head! Now wonder I'm checking this site out several times a day.

My son gave out these filled with cinnamon hearts, instead of valentine's cards, to his classmates this year. He figured none of the girls could then get the wrong idea about the card he gave them. (Grade 6 can be difficult).

Default crimper

The crimper just gives it the authentic "sour cream container" look. It isn't necessary. Have fun. MB :P

Default Sour cream packet template?

I have been searching for a template for the little sour cream packets. I know I have seen them somewhere but can't find them now. Does anyone have one to share?

Thanks,

Just take a strip of cardstock (maybe 3x6) and roll longways into a tube and adhere together (so it looks like a toilet paper tube or something).

Adhere one end. Adhere other end in opposite direction.

That's it! SUPER easy!

the easiest thing to do is picture an empty toilet paper tube...glue one end shut straight across, then give it a turn and glue the other shut in the opposite direction...make sense? find an empty tube and practice, that way you won't waste your good paper. I also find using non su paper is good, as it sometimes isn't as stiff and easier to fold...they are likely going to trash them when opened, so no point using good paper...Rebecca

Default sour cream template

I always use a 1/2 sheet of cardstock, patterned paper, vellum. I also seal the seams with Sticky Strip (works best) and "crimp" the ends some.

I too crimp the ends...makes for a nice finished look....I use double sided tape...is that what sticky strip is? The crimping really pinches it together so it doesn't unstick....

I just made 40 of these for favors for a silver wedding anniversary....I used a 1/4 sheet. They are too darn cute!! Hope that they are appreciated....although, even if they aren't...they were simple and didn't take any time to do!!!

I'm new to this so I'm not sure ... what are you supposed to do with these? I saw that someone made them as wedding favors ... since the gallery isn't up can you explain what they are filled with? How they are decorated? I'm exhausted from a very tiring weekend so my head isn't picturing a whole lot! LOL Hope you'll help!

You fill them with anything you want. At halloween we used only orange paper and stamped spooky stuff on them in black and filled them with Candy Corn. You basically stamp on your cardstock BEFORE you fold and tape and crimp...then I Punch a hole and attache a tag...

I got this somewhere on this site (thank you!)

- 1/4 sheet of cardstock stamped and decorated.
- Mono-adhesive 3 sides (2 short and one long). I run the mono across the entire length of the side for this particular project, not little strips.
- Roll like a toilet paper tube sealing the long side.
- Pinch one short edge closed. It already has mono on it.
- Fill with a treat or suprise. Careful b/c the open end has mono on it.
- Turn tube 1/4 turn and pinch closed the open end. This is so the flat sealed edged on one end is going a different direction than the other end.
- Crimp both ends - this helps keep it closed.

It's a little more expensive, but I used sticky strips when I demo'd this at a workshop because it holds much better, it also helped sell the sticky tape. I made these as Halloween treats for my daughter's class with the mono and they came apart a day or so later.
I only put about an inch of the sticky strip on the crimped ends, saved money and when you crimp them they stay closed just fine. I attached a card that I made from the Punch Tag kit for an extra pop! (punched a hole thru the crimped end and tied with a ribbon)
Try making them from vellum for a see-thru effect!
Have fun!

This is how I do my sour cream container...

Take a 1/2 sheet of cardstock and stamp it.

then take some sticky tape and put at one short end of the cardstock. Roll cardstock over to form a short tube and stick.

then sticky tape the sides of one end together and then sticky tape the other sides of the end forming a twisted effect.

then crimp it and you are done. Hope this helps
