Default Silent Setter

Hey all, has anyone bought one at a real store other than online, I went to two places yesterday and struck out both times...??

Thanks

Default Sorry.. I don't have the same one..

What exactly is a silent setter?? The one I have is a spring loaded one and you don't have to use a hammer... Is that what you are talking about?

In researching (think before you speak = research before you type)I found that I don't have what you were looking for, sorry.

I don't have one, but I did see them for sale at Hobby Lobby. I don't know if that helps you any or not, if you even have a Hobby Lobby in your area. I thought about getting it, but I think I would miss pounding with the little hammer!

I bought mine at Archivers. LOVE IT! I have heard they are also at JoAnns - and you can use you 40% off for it too! It truely is a silent setter but takes a little work on the old MM eyelets. You need soft alluminum ones - and then it is just a little twist motion and it is a perfect set. It comes with 3 different sizes or hole puncher and setter. I got mine for $19.

I have the one made by provocraft and I like it. I agree that it works best on softer eyelets though...and for some reason seems to work better when going through several layers of paper instead of a single layer. I got mine at Archivers.

I just use my 1/8 and 1/16" hand punches from SU! punch the hole with the 1/8" and then use the 1/16 to set them by simply lining up the puch over the eyelt and squeezing!! I had heard this from someone when I first became a SU demo but could not get it to work... after I started going to all SU supplies , i realized it will only work with SU eyelets because they are "softer" than the eyelets sold at local craft stores... works great!! I love it because my main stamp time is after all my 4 kids are sleeping and I rarely used eyelets for fear of waking them... now I can set them in silence !! WOOHOO

I've never seen one at any of the retailers (Michae's, Hobby Lobby, Joann's) in my area. I'm considering getting one from CreativExpress. They have it for $17.98, and sometimes you can get a discount. I want one because when I use a hammer, it sets off my house alarm. Yikes!

I don't like mine as much as I thought I would. I got it about a year ago and its not as quiet as you think it would be. It still kinda makes a "twang" sound that wakes the dog, who barks and wakes the husband. And its hard to control the pressure so sometimes I just smoosh the heck out of my eyelets. I just went back to using the hammer and doing eyelets during the day time.

This product just came out. And there is not any type of noise. Are you thinking of the clickit type with the spring? Those do have some noise but at least a little better than the hammer. My DH works night and I hated not being able to do eyelets whenever I wanted to. Now - problem solved!

I think you might be thinking of Clickit...this is a new different one....no noise at all.

I got mine at a scrapbook store. Here's a link to the Provo Caft store locator. I tried it with the ZIP for the next town over and was surprised to find a Hallmark store listed!

I was at our scrapbook store here last week. They had one of the setters there. Were ordering more. I loved it. My friend & I both ordered one. It was on $20 & I can use my monthly 15% one item on it.
I was setting eyelets last week in cards for a swap & my dh came in my room & asked what I was building....guess I was kind of noisey!

Love the Silent Setter! No noise, easy to use! Got mine at Archiver's, haven't seen them anywhere else except online.

I have one on order at Joann's because they ran out several weeks ago - they were 1/2 price. I'll be running over there when I hear that it's in! Can't wait to use it instead of the hammer!

My old upline used to use her punch. She used the 1/8 punch although I don't know how she did this. I have tried and I can't get it to work. It always bends the eyelet.

I bought mine in March from Roberts Crafts with a 40% off coupon -- regulary 17.99 so it was a steal! I LOVE it! It works great on SU and other soft eyelets -- you have to press harder to set MM eyelets but it will do them.

I saw them 2 days ago at our A.C.Moore for about $19. I am going to be getting one with my 40% coupon one of these days. Actually we have a 50% coupon coming up, maybe I'll get it then.

I got mine at Archivers but Hobby Lobby also sells it. My HL had it stuck in a very weird spot so you really have to look for it!

I'll have to check back at my HL. I looked when I was there yesterday where they keep the eyelets and the regular eyelet tool kit, but they didn't have it.

My Hobby Lobby is FAB but very unorganized. They have TONS of scrapbooking stuff tucked in the unfinished wood section (on the end caps) That is where they have the silent setter and the chisler by Provo Craft.

I was mistaken... mine is not the Silent Setter but a ReadySetter. I bought mine at a convention last year. I wish I had waited. I'm ordering the SU Crafters Tool Kit (for about the price I paid for the ReadySetter). I think I'll like it better since it has a storage case, and includes the templates for eyelet and stitch placements. I have a few of those templates from other vendors, but I can never find them when I need them. Maybe the storage case will help me keep everything together so that I can find it when I'm ready to use it.
