Today's technique is Paint Chip Cards. Incorporate a paint chip sample from your hardware in your card. Be sure to use Staz-on or emboss other inks, or the ink will never dry. Some paint chips are wide enough to stamp on them and cut off the words, some are not. You can leave the words on, or cut them off...it is up to you. When you go to the store, be sure to take some cardstock samples with you so you can find a paint chip strip that matches (ask me how I know this one! LOL).
lol! I was just at the hardware store last night, & picked up some extra paint chips thinking I wanted to try this. I'll definatley have to be in on this challenge!
Just did a paint chip swap. It was SO much fun and I can't wait to see what everyone had come up with. I wish I would have taken a picture before I sent it off...maybe I did? I will check and post later if I find it. I do love this new area to keep track of the challenges for the week - what a quick way to get the juices flowing.
I have to aquire some paint chips. I am usually at wally world. I think they have them. If not I guess I will just have to go to Lowe's-woe is me! LOL!
I have been wanting to try this. Thanks for challenging us to do things that we want to try, but never make the time to.
I've had these things sitting around for forever and have only used them once.
Hey! That reminds me, I have a scrapbook layout where I used these, does that count? Just kidding, I'll make a card tonight too. Hubby needs a pick-me-up card I think, work is stressing him out :(

I just told my dh last week we needed to go to Lowe's so I could get some paint chips....well, I was in Wal-Mart & guess what...they have lots of them too. So I filled my purse with all colors I could think of & made a bunch of cards on Monday. So I am ready for this challenge!! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
(probably still pending)

Rebecca, I found mine at Home Depot. The different paint companies all have different sizes and shapes. You might try Lowes, Walmart, or even Kmart (I think they still have paint?). Or even an actual paint store!
Lesley~ I love the weaving, and also like how you used Vertical Greetings in the other. Will have to remember to pilfer a few paint chips from Walmart tomorrow so I can try this.

Here's my very first posting on the forum... this is a card that I made a few weeks ago. I used paint chips from Walmart to create it. When the gallery is up again, I think I will attempt to add this card to it (I've never done that before either...)
If you are from Canada, check out Canadian Tire's paint chip selection as well, their paint chips are wide and the writing can easily be trimmed off.
This is my first posting to the forum also. I love to use these, I have been using them for a little over two years. I really like to use the faux finish samples. I don't have any cards at the moment that are completed, I gave them all away. I'll try to get one done.

Rachel L - that is a lovely card! so peaceful. Great job! So glad that you joined the challenge. I hope you continue to play along...with cards like that one, I can't wait to see a gallery from you soon!
Cathy, you and I were typing at the same time! LOL I'm so glad that you posted to the challenge too! It is a great way to get to know so stampers, and we all love to see the talents of the SCS newbies! I look forward to seeing your creations too.
Once the gallery is back up and running, I will upload my cards there also but here is a quick look at what I did with some paint chips I had. I was holding on to them not knowing what to do until I was inspired here. :-) And now I need to make a trip to Home Depot for more, and I wonder how many I can take without raising suspicion that I am not painting. <grin>
The first is my card and I used a piece of swirlled vellum to soften the background. It needed that and I am not sure you will be able to tell that in the pic. The second pic are bookmarks and they are very simple, just basic brown stamped on the paint chip (Behr as they are large ones) and I used a pink eraser to erase the numbers off the one. You can still see just a little. I also used a corner punch so the top is shaped like a tag. I am sorry I cant remember the name of the punch but I believe it is an easy punch to find.
Ok,,,,, I had to make my pics into thumbnails and I hope this works,,, wow, learn something new everyday....
