Hopefully someone out there can help me (and hopefully others!). I have seen some gorgeous samples of cards made with the Kaleidacolor pads. I'm assuming they are made with the regular rubber brayer and glossy cardstock. When I try to do this I get a very obvious division between colors. I can't seem to get a nice blended look between colors. By blended look I'm referring to the sample in the new Stampin Techniques booklet.
Anyway I start with the ink pads separated and then roll onto glossy cardstock. I get the first roll of ink on paper and then gently move the brayer left and right. What can I be doing better? Anyone one else have trouble with this?
Have the ink colors pushed together when you are inking up the brayer.
Roll the brayer until it is completely covered in ink, just keep the brayer straight so you aren't mixing the colors. Then, when you roll on your cardstock you won't have to move it around to get the colors blended.
and keep rolling....seems like quite often when someone's having a problem getting it to "look right" it's because they didn't roll long enough to really blend the ink on the paper
I just got done doing lot of Kaleidacolor brayering for a fauz bleach technique. Tips: Slide the colors together, roller the brayer over the pad several times while occasionally adjusting a bit to right and left (this will coat so you won't have lines or spaces), use a good amount of strength when applying to paper, keep adjusting the brayer a bit to the right and left to eliminate lining...have fun!
Now I thought you were NOT supposed to slide them together for brayering?? That's what I've always been told...so that you cover almost the entire 1/4 sheet. Then keep rolling it to blend it. That's what worked for me...and it was my first try (doing Joseph's coat...card to be posted when completed this weekend)...

I'm with Debbi, I've always been told to keep the pads seperate to keep your colors from blending.
I know to store them apart, but everything I've ever read says with a brayer you keep them separate....for everything else use them pushed together. I had no problems with the pads apart.....just roll hard, and move it enough to cover the "white" strips down the side.

The brayer and I do NOT get along. My upline has been so patient and showed me many a times but no luck. When we are all together stamping and they hear an "UH OH" from me... they know Im attempting the brayer and failed.
Thanks for all the great tips. I'm going to try it several different ways and see which works best for me. I wonder how much glossy paper I'm going to go through?
I use a FOAM brayer vs the rubber. I keep the colors separate when inking the brayer and move the brayer side to side when rolling onto the glossy. I don't press super hard and keep reinking until I get the look I want.
I store the stamps apart, but brayer them together for years and have never had a bleeding problem and no white space worries. I just run the brayer through the stamp pad again to cover the whole card.
Keep your colors seperate on the pad and ink the brayer so the whole thing is covered in ink. You have to move it over to fill in the blank spots. Then, when you brayer on the cardstock. continue rolling off the paper on the top and bottom. Keep rolling until the paper looses the wet look.
