I have been looking for someone like you!! My husband is Army (National Guard currently, but re-enlisting after this deployment (which ends in 2 weeks!!!!)as Active Duty..) We were looking at which places to request and we were talking about Germany and Italy, b/c they would be our only chances to live overseas...couldn't afford to even visit otherwise!! How do you like Italy? Any recommendations? (I have a 6 year old and a one month old if that makes a difference...)

Hi Katie,

Right now we're living in Sicily, Italy. We've only been here since February. I dont know exactly where in Italy you'd be stationed and I haven't had a chance to visit the mainland yet. Sicily is okay, it's very country here. There are no shopping malls or anything like that here. We do have Mt. Etna, an active volcano and she's beautiful to look at. But from what I hear from my friends, Germany is a beautiful country. Plus it's pretty much in the middle of Europe which would make traveling alot easier. Rome and Naples are very busy cities as i've heard but the sight seeing can be wonderful. Well if you want to know any more information please dont hesitate to ask!

Take care
Pam

We were really leaning towards Germany just because of the ease getting to other places of interest (PARIS!), the amount of sightseeing available (I'm homeschooling so this would provide a wealth of lessons!), and the fact that my husband has been there 3 times and really loved the countryside and all of the places he visited...but I wanted to get an "insiders" view on Italy before we narrowed everything down! Thanks so much for your help!
