TLC102 - Shopping Tote
This was the challenge hosted by Stamphappy6805 in this past weekend's VSN. These totes are just adorable!
You can see all the ones made for VSN this weekend here: Shopping Totes
And here is what Anita said in her challenge:
My challenge is to make a shopping tote because this girlfriend just loves to shop, online, on the phone and in the stores, any way I can. My challenge would be to make a tote bag that was featured on the cover of Paper Crafts magazine in March of 2006. I have made some of these and they are easy to make. You can fill them with goodies for a gift, a gift card and a hand made card, or do like I did and fill the tote with a set of handmade cards.
Below are the directions for the template. I want to thank scarlett for posting the template. I found that the sides stuck the best if I used sticky dots or two sided sticky tape.

Thank you Anita for such a fun challenge during VSN! All the challenges were great and I wished that I had had more time to play along with VSN. When you upload, use keyword TLC102 and please add your creation to Anything But A Card/Other Totes category (rather than the main stamp set as we normally do.) The gallery mods will thank you!
ETA: If you already did the challenge during VSN, feel free to post a link to it on this thread. And then go make another!
I look forward to seeing all your creations! As always, I am in search of suggestions for techniques for future TLCs! Please PM with suggestions and a link to the directions and/or a sample if you can. Thanks!
If you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!

I made one during VSN -- my first try. The template really helped a bunch. I liked it so much that I'm going to make another one for my neighbor. She is helping me sell some stuff on her Ebay site, and I want to make something for her to say thank you. This is perfect!

Oh, yay! I didn't get to do this one for VSN, and now that my baby shower order is finished, I can play. I hated missing the challenges last week, especially as doing the challenges is one of my New Year's Resolutions.
Love love love doing these! I make them all the time, and they are reallly really quite simple! Maybe I'll have time for another later.
Here's mine from VSN Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Here is mine for this challenge! I used one of the Just Delightful SS kits for mine which made it super quick and easy! I will be using this as a hostess gift for my workshop on Saturday. Inside, I plan to do a couple of cards and maybe a little notebook from some of the other materials in the kit! Thanks for looking! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Oh my goodness, I am so honored that you are all having the oportunity to do my challenge, it just extends the VSN fun. The totes that everyone made were just so wonderful. Here are the two that I made as examples. I won't have time today to make another one but I sure do love making them. Thanks Beth.
Well, this is one that I didn't get a chance to do. For some reason I couldn't get the link to work & still can't (I did the right click, etc. etc. -- who knows?)
Anyway, from the alternate pattern, I came up with these measurements for scoring, so that a normal 1/4 sheet card & envelope will fit horizontally inside.
Score vertically from each side at 1-1/4". Score horizontally from each side at 4-3/4". Your finished tote will be H = 4-3/4"; W = 6"; D = 1-1/2".
I hope this helps everyone. Took me 2 tries to get it right.
Will have to work on mine later, though. First I have to prepare materials for tomorrow morning's class - at that means designing 2 cards first. Why do I wait until the last minute?
I like the way this one came out a lot better then the one I did for VSN. I added more touches to it this time. I was going to braid the straps, but decided against it. Enjoy!
Perfect challenge for today! I have a SAS tomorrow and this will be a perfect door prize for the lucky winner to take some of their cards home in! thanks, beth!!!!!

Just a question - do you all only use the patterned paper on the front of the bag? I have been glueing my paper down to both sides & the bottom - and I think the fold is causing problems. Suggestions would be nice.
thanks!
