What colour family do you use most?
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before-- I am new to all of this. I'm trying to decide what colour family to buy for my starter kit (inks and cardstock). I'm most attracted to the soft subtles and rich regals, but I want to get something that will be the most versatile as I don't have much for equipment at this point.
Thanks for all your input.

Bold Brights, all the way!!! It's a personal choice though, in whatever you decide to do. What are you drawn to? Although, BB would be good since it is spring and heading to summer - great flower and summery colors.

I use anything except Earth Elements! Although I have a friend who is teaching me to love EE!
They are all quite versatile. If you go with the kit as offered, there are templates on the SU! site for ideas to help you get started. In addition, Bold Brights seems to me to be great colours for Summer! In fact ... I think I need to get some more!

It is definitely personal opinion! For my first order (as a customer, not a demo) I bought the Little Hellos starter kit as well as the Soft Subtles Spots and SS marker set. The Soft Subtle colors were the ones that appealed to me, with the Rich Regals a close second.
One comment I will make about the Soft Subtle inks is that they are much lighter than I had anticipated. There are no real bright/strong colors and I had/have a hard time using the markers to color a stamp, say a flower in a pot, because sometimes the end result is a little too muted IMO. But I still do love the cardstock colors!
My next order was my Demo starter kit and I opted for all Bold Brights in my ink -- red, blue, pink, orchid (my daughter's choice) and green. I felt I needed something brighter to mix it up a little with the muted colors of the Soft Subtle line. I really want the BB markers, tho, and so that will be part of my next order, along with the RR Spots.

Bold Brights!
Usually use Bold Brights! I'd say the least used is the Soft Subtles

I am a seasonal gal. Right now, I am into the SS cause it's spring time. But probably my favorite is EE.

I gotta go with Earth Elements. Summer Sun, Ruby Red, Garden Green - don't you just see Sunflowers????
Okay, and Rich Regals, antique roses and Brocade Blue or Ballet Blue.
Bold Brights are my favorites for holidays. Christmas, St. Pat's Day, patriotic days.
Soft Subtles - my favorite is Sage Shadow! And how great Pale Plum and Perfect Plum look on shimmery white cardstock!!!!

I tend to go with the season. Right now I am into the Soft Subtles, but won't be long till I switch to the Bold Brights. Than when Fall comes around again, I start using the Earth Elements and for Winter, Rich Regals is wonderful!
Typically I do recommend my beginning stampers to start with Bold Brights, being as that is where all the primary colors are located.
A great inexpensive way to sample all the colors in a group are with the Spots - $21.50 for 12 colors, can't beat it!

As a family - Earth Elements.
The colors I go to most are Pale Plum/perfect Plum/Mellow Moss....sometimes Sage Shadow.....so I guess the 2nd most popular would be the Soft Subtles.....but I use some ofethose very rarely!
Third would probably be Rich Regals....I use the blues quite often and the 2 roses.
Last would be Bold Brights - although again, depending on the season. And, I don't have kids and I think that plays into my color choices.

I love soft subtles because I love the soft flowery card look. However for my scrapbooking I use bold brights -- I have a three year old and bold certainly describes him.
I agree, we are all soooo different and that is what makes this site great right? Get what you like best.

It goes with the season, but I probably use the earth elements the most. Which is funny because they were the last ones I purchased...swore I'd never use them!

I'm just a customer. The first set I bought was Bold Brights, and I've just ordered Rich Regals, next will be Earth Elements. I'm not interested in Soft Subtles at all.

I too am very seasonal. I am really using my Soft Subtles now, but I am slowly working into using Bold Brights for summer. It really is a personal choice.

I am a seasonal gal personally...Not on purpose but it seems to work out that I use soft subtles in the spring, bold brights in the summer, earth elements in the fall & rich regals in the winter...

Look thru the gallery and see which cards draw you the most. I orignially went with Rich Regals just because I didn't know what I wanted. But as I stamped more, I found myself drawn to the Soft Subtles and Earth Elements. Like some of the other posters, I find that the season is a big influence - also the stamp sets that you currently have.

What color family do you use most?
I would have to say the Rich Regals are the ones I use most. I'm a blue girl. I love the color. My second would be the bold brights. Good luck with your decision. You'll have them all before you know it :P

EE are my favorite, then BB, SS,RR in that order. I always buy new accessories in that order too. When I first started demoing, I focused on getting all of the inks and papers so I wouldn't be limited on color. I could have saved a lot of $$$ I have refilled my EE and BB colors of ink and paper and have yet to need any refills of either ink or paper in the SS and RR colors. As a matter of fact I have only used a few SS and about two colors of the RR. Go with what you love, the rest will follow.

Bold Brights gets my vote!
Bold brights was my first set and I still find I use them the most. I have a lot of camping photos so I purchased the spots to use until I purchased the ink pad set. I just purchased soft subtles and I still don't have any regals colors yet. That's next on my agenda

I definitely follow the seasons. We were talking about this at a brag book class last night...I found that most of my fellow stampers are pretty set in their favorite color family, but two of us are "equal inkertunity stampers."

I always find myself going for Earth Elements no matter what season of the year it is. I guess Bold Brights would be next followed by Soft Subtles. I like Rich Regals, too, but only tend to use those in the winter. There are however, certain RR colors I use on a regular basis: Ballet Blue, Rose Red, Not Quite Navy, and Rose Romance - Well, that's 1/3 of the collection - guess I use RR more than I realize...

I bought the RR set first but find now that my favorites are the EE. The order I like and use the color families are: EE, RR, BB,SS. I agree that you need to go with what you love.

As I went through my scraps to organize, I realized it would have to be bold brights. I think that I have the least amount of scraps for that one, because I use them all. The most scraps would be rich regals. I thought I used alot of that family, but my scraps don't say so.

I am definitely a Bold Brights kind of gal! I like Rich Regals next, then Earth Elements (although these two groups are pretty close for me!) I like the Soft Subtles the least, although I am using them a lot now in Spring! Ha Ha, this really helps, doesn't it?

Ya know I always start out by trying to outside my comfort zone-- however i always end up back to the good ole EE. But then i think it may have something to do with being a throw back to the 70's. If I have a choice even outside SU like with furniture or clothing or linens or heck anything it's always EE. Of course there are the splotches of color outside EE that i go for to perk it up.
Do you think color choices have to do with personalities? Cuz now that i think about it it really looks like i am a dulldrum kinda girl. today i will try to work outside my comfort zone!!! (who am i kidding)

it depends on the season
It depends on the season for me. In the fall I was all about Earth Elements. Towards winter I used alot of the blues in Rich Regals. Now that it's spring I'm dabbling some in Soft Subtles and I know it won't be long and the brights will be coming out for summer.
My least favorite is Soft Subtles

Color Families
I use EE the most with SS a close second. Reading this thread, I am amazed at all the different opinions with just 4 color families.

I have all 48 Stampin Spots, slowly starting to get all the Classic pads. I have about half of those and have yet to get any of the Craft Pads. My favorite color groups SS. I think BB is the most versatile. The one I least liked is RR although my favorite individual color now comes from that group. It is Eggplant Envy. When I joined SU! I had been a customer for two years so I already had alot of colors. I got RR in my kit because that was what I had the least of. I agree with some of the other posts that it goes with the season. We are getting into Summer soon so BB may be the best to go with. Welcome to SU!

rich regals
I'm def a rich regals girl. But now with the new colors I'll have to rethink my strategy. I'll miss my favorite Eggplant Envy.

It varies with the season! In the spring and summer I use BB the most and in fall and winter I use mostly EE. Every now and then I will use RR, and almost never do I use the SS.
