FEB07VSNQ: Sweetheart, Cobrielle: My own Encaustic World!
Sweetheart Hostess: Cobrielle
Challenge Codes: FEB07VSNQ
Challenge Time: Saturday 10:00 pm
Challenge Title: MY own Encaustic World!
Challenge Description: My Own Little Encaustic World......
My favorite thing to do in stamping is to learn a new technique!! I love having lots of different ways to play with my babies....ummm, stamps! LOL
In my quest to learn as many techniques as humanly possible (Yes, I am aware that I have issues....they are many and varied...LOL) I stumbled across Encaustic Art! It's super-pretty and really easy to do--and it makes you look majorly talented to boot!!! (Always a plus in my books!) And yes, you CAN do this in 45 minutes or less!
To do my easy version of Encaustic Art (Cause I'm too cheap to buy the proper tools....then I couldn't buy as much rubbah!!!!) you will need the following:
Glossy cardstock (not sure if photo paper will work--feel free to try if you want to!) CRAYOLA crayons (seriously, knock-offs don't work with this) Iron Scrap paper (TONS!) Tin foil (If it's your good/only iron. I have a craft iron so I don't bother with tinfoil.) Staz On ink
Landcape/bird/butterfly stamps
Here's a tutorial I wrote for this technique on my blog. It walks you through step-by-step how to do this fun technique!!! I hope that lots of you are brave enough to try this--cause it's seriously fun and easy!!!!!
When uploading, be sure to put the challenge code FEB07VSNQ in the keyword section. If you use additional keywords, you must separate them with a comma. The keywords ensure that I am able to find the card for judging!
Copying and pasting the keyword code is recommended to avoid typos.
You do not have to post a link to your creation or a thumbnail in the chat thread to be judged, though doing so will increase the number of views your card receives.
If you have any questions, Cobrielle will be available in the chat thread. Happy stamping!
I will have to try this another day....did not get these supplies together.....but I must say that your examples intrigue me...those backgrounds are just beautful..............will save these directions to create another day..........thanks for the challenge and the new technique
I'm afraid this will be the first challenge I'll have to pass up. I really don't want to mess up my iron; nor learn a new technique (although it looks pretty cool) this late at night. I'm just to old and tired!!! But, I do thank you for being a hostess and sharing your blog with us. Perhaps I'll break down and buy a craft iron and try this some other time. Will just enjoy the others' works. Thanks again.

If you cover your iron with tinfoil it doesn't mess it up.....Just so you know!!;)
Looks like messy fun but I'm getting tired and I don't think I should be playing with anything that hot. Seriously, I'm ready to drop! Have fun everyone..
I'm gonna have to sit this one out also. Don't have crayons. But will do this later. This is awesome and I will do it at another time. Thanks for all your hard work. Yes, you are the bomb
I can't wait to see everyone else's cards.
I'm with Vicki, too late at night here in Vermont for getting messy. This has been a great day and I have done all the challenges until this one. I'll go enjoy others. Have fun.
I'll just eat my potato chips and see if I can do some of the challenges I missed earlier...had a workshop today!
Hope your workshop went well!! Remember, you have until 3pm EST tomorrow to upload your creations for VSN...so if you get some tinfoil tomorrow morning you can still play!;)
Seriously, isn't it fun??? And if you mess it up all you have to do is iron it all off and start again!!!! No wasted cardstock on this technique!!;)
What a great idea! I'd love to try it, but I'm just pooped and I think my daughter wouldn't like me melting her white crayon away. I promise I'll try this technique. Your tutorial was wonderful, and yes, I'm now humming that song ;-)

I'm glad my tutorial made sense to you!!! And I'm laughing cause I'm singing the song too!!!! LOL:mrgreen:
WHAT FUN! I'm going to save this one till tomorrow morning when DH is at church for two reasons.... First, so I don't have to listen to him B**CH about the smell, and second because I bought the 87 cent knock off crayons instead of the $2.50 Crayolas. Yeah, I'm cheap. So, I'll pick up a pack of Crayolas at WalMart tomorrow when I go for coffee in the morning!
I do have a $7 iron I got at WalMart just for this, so I *GOTTA* do it.... I know just the stamp I want to use with it too......

Yeah, it does smell!!! The reason the crayolas work better is that they have a stronger pigment in them. I've tried Rose Art ones and other knock off ones and keep coming back to the crayola. They really are best for this!
K.............I have a question........is there such a thing as too fresh (too juicy) of a stazon? I have hardly ever used mine and I'm finding the funniest thing..........it's balling on my card...........is that normal? In fact I touched my first stamped image after stamping the rest of my scene and it's tacky and smudging. My images are not clear at all..........is that normal?
