Default Looking for Carl Cutter, anyone know where I can find him??

Hi Ladies,

Beate showed me her boyfriend Carl Cutter and I need one!!
I tried foreverarts.com with no luck. Office Depot has one for $98.00. The cheapest I've seen so far. If you have any other leads please pass them along. I really need a rotary cutter bad. Looking for the model DC-210.

It takes me so long to prepare for workshops. I'd like to have more time to do all the gazillion other things on my long to do list.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Jen

I think it's wholesale price. Pretty sweet deal. Give Mike a call, or send them an email. They're GREAT to deal with!

I have a question about Carl. I have one and many times I get a crooked cut from him. What am I doing wrong?! It starts out straight but by the time I get to the end of the cut it kinda curves or something. Is my blade not in tight enough? Am I putting too much pressure on it? This happens with one sheet of CS to several but especially when I'm cutting multi-sheets. My blade is new. Any tips would be appreciated as I hate it not working as well as I expected.

Does anyone know how the Carl compares to Fiskars?
I have the Fisk one that I got at Costco.
Just wondering if I should jump ship to Carl.
Thanks!

Get an acrylic quilter's square. Well, it's a triangle, but you know what I mean, right? Just butt it up against the magnetic arm dealie, and you shouldn't have a problem with the drift.

Hope that makes sense!

The toll free number for Everafter Arts is: (877) 853-3168.
Mike was very nice. He and his wife are stampers too!!

I'm paying almost 1/2 of what Office Depot had it listed for.
I was searching this morning and the price range was $115-179.00.
If you need a heavy duty rotary cutter this is the place to buy one.
I'm sure he'll appreciate the business.

I'll have a smile for the rest of the day. I can't wait for my boyfriend Carl to be delivered!!

Carl makes Fisk look like a 98 pound weakling! I love my Carl, have had no problem with drift, but I do have to admit when cutting 8 sheets, I double check that I have them straight before I roll the blade.

OH! So, that magnetic arm dealie is supposed to be pushed up against the plastic piece? I'm so dumb. I thought that was to just hold your paper down! I was never shown how to use the thing. I just bought it when a member of my group got up a big order from Mike. Thanks for the tip Jenn! I actually don't quilt so I'm not sure what gadget you're talking about but a friend of mine does. Thanks!

Here's a picture using a quilter's ruler, it's not a T Square but I think you'll get the idea...

http://www.southerngoose.com/buddies..._alignment.htm

Also, remember to change the pad under your blade. If that gets to rutty it will skew your cut and dull your blade.

Hope that helps!!

I'm looking into getting a "Carl" of my own. Any suggestions as to what model. I'm not a heavy demo, but do have monthly Stamp Camps.

What models do you all have?

The triangle dealie on top works very well to keep the arm straight!

You can get them anyplace. I think Walmart has 'em!

I love my Carl. I have the DC220e. Everafterarts.com also sells the daylight lights and I have one of those too. They are great for color matching.

I posted the demo price list from Mike (he said to share w/ other demos) in the General section of the Demo forum.

I have a DC-238 and I love it!!

It cuts through cardstock, paper, cardboard and matboard easily. My husband even uses it

Jen,
I am confused. Did you talk with them personally over the phone and work out a deal because on the website the DC-210 was 109.00 more than you had listed for Office Depot. Which cutter did you purchase? I am very new when it comes to cutters. I have the large Fiskars that my husband gave me for my birthday many years ago and have not been satisfied. I use the small one for my card making but it would be nice to have one to cut many papers at one time to prepare for workshops. Just curious.

Thanks for sharing.

Yahoo, I just ordered my Carl Cutter. I called their toll free number and talked with Mike. I just gave him my demo number and we get all their products at wholesale. I ordered the DC-210 which cuts 12 inch paper. I probably won't be cutting anything larger! I am so glad my husband is going fishing in Alaska for a week starting this Friday...it was time for me to go shopping    Mike said to spread the word....guess SCS is the best place for that!!!!

Hi, I'm a little confused. Most of you are saying that the Carl cutter is $100+. I bought mine in a scrapbook store for $29.95, and Staples carries them for about the same pricel. Are there different types of Carl cutters? Or did I get a great deal? Susan

There are 11 different models--handheld to personal to professional to 25" Heavy Duty--and they range in price (retail) from $9.99 to $349.99. The Everafterarts.com demo price is significantly less (cost). I've posted the price list in the general forum in the demo section.

I got an email from Mike yesterday regarding shipping to Canada. They're willing to do it but the disclaimer was "it's always fun dealing with Customs".

I will be calling him this weekend to have him elaborate on what that means....his prices are practically a STEAL!!!!

I really want to get one of these but I'm undecided.
I want to be able to cut several CS paper at the same time.
Any recommendations?

Thanks

Consider buying the 18" as you can cut 12 x 12 paper diagonally. You can also put two stacks of 8 1/2 x 11 paper side-by-side and cut. This shortens your time by half!
