Default How do you....

Mount? (Oh my, that sounds a little naughty)
Anyway, a friend and I are discussing proper mounting techniques. She mounts to the lower right hand corner of the wood block(stamp side up). That way, when you flip it over it is lined up to the lower left corner (make sense?). So there is all this extra space to the top and the side. She says, it's easier to line up, especially words and repetitive designs.
I, on the other hand, try and be true to picture and mount the stamp smack dab in the middle of my wood block.
Just curious, what do you do?

I also mount in the center of the block -- I find it easier to stamp even and not smudge it up!

Center for me too. I'm super anal about trying to make the stamp line up with the sticker on the front of the block....but I hear they have medication for that now.

Center here, too. I've only done one stamp in the corner because it is a corner piece for a picture or frame.

Centre for me...I tried some using the corner method but found I rocked my stamp and ended up with more blurred images. I use my stamp positioner to make sure it's where I want it.

Ahem. It's late and I'm laughing, but y'all posted serious answers, so ...

I like to line up the bottom of the stamp with a bottom edge, then I usually center it side to side. It's not as important now that I have the stamp-a-ma-jig, I used to try to line up two edges if possible, so that I could see where I was stamping without having to plaster my nose against the table.

See that, and I never even had to use the word "mount."

Oh Kathy...you're too funny!! I love when this place makes me laugh. One time I was plastering my nose to the table to see where I was putting my stamp only I got my hair a little too close to my ink pad. Needless to say, I'm now a proud owner of a stamp-a-ma-jig!

And it is tempting to talk about "mounting" and all, but I think we may be kicked off for it.

Default Mounting

All of my stamps are unmounted. I use acrylic blocks and never have a problem any more of where I am stamping. I love the acrylics.

I mount in the center, but I don't sweat it too much. If I really need an image to be stamped perfectly in a particular place I use the stamp-a-ma-jig. I love that thing!

I'm a center mounter. I do like to line the bottom edge with the bottom when there is an edge to line up. The first sets I owned I tried the corner method but my stamps rocked as well.

Hi Sassy Cassie!!! Guess who!!!
I, personally, like to mount my stamps in the center, at the bottom, so I can eyeball where the bottom of the stamp is!!
Ha...how funny that I clicked on your question!

One of my first sets was an alphabet - which someone told me to mount in the lower left corner. Being new to stamping, it sounded good to me - so I did. Now it's the hardest set I have to use. I wish I had done them in the center. (Other people do this, and love it - I must be challenged in some way! :? )

I mounted all my others in the center and I think they're much easier to use.

My stamps come unmounted so I can put it any way that I want and can see where I am stamping. However for any wood mounted stamps that I have, I put it in the middle as I would be able to give even pressure to the stamp while stamping.

Center, but have a friend who purchased little hellos and didn't want to use the little saying for a card so we decided to cut the words of and mount them on the end of the stamp rather than masking.

Center! It gives much better pressure control and less distortion of the image. Use the stamp-a-ma-jig to be precise.

I've tried all three ways that have been mentioned and I now mount ALL of my stamps at the bottom center. I rarely have to plaster my nose to the table . The ones I have mounted in the corner are my most difficult to use because they are so unbalanced. I also mount the sticker to match the stamp so I can eyeball it from the top when I need to as I do not have a SAMJ.

[OOPs, pulled the wrong quote. Sorry.

I have done most of my sets that have words with the images that way. Little Hellos, A Little Love, Charming Children. It's a GREAT way to mount them and you get a lot more use out of them. Got that idea from Karen Gregorian.

I mount them in the center most of the time unless it is a two step set. i mount the two step sets in the "lower right hand corner rubber side up" this way I can do the overlay or second stamp were I need it. I also cut the stickers out and position them where I mounted the rubber. Most of my word stamps are mounted at the bottom. It all depends on the stamp for me.

Corner mounting is for me!! I love it because i never have to drag out a stamp a ma jig and i always know where my words are going to be and to ask me to center it on the wood then center the sticker would be like asking me to save the world....not gonna happen!! If you haven't tried it, go for it!

I mount to the left too, to bottom of wood block. I also pull off the sticker, turn it upside down over the rubber, eyeball placement, turn wood block over and place accordingly. Sounds like a lot of work, but after almost 7 years, Im pretty quick and accurate!! (pretty happy with myself, eh?!!) Then I stamp it on or graph paper to make sure it stamps straight.
I dont have to crane my neck side ways to see it.

I mount everything in the center ... except my alphabets. I mount those on the top edge in the center. It helps me place the letters a little easier.

That's one thing I love about SU! I can mount my stamps anywhere I would like ... and I'm the only one to blame if they aren't trimmed close enough!! LOL!!

Centered at the bottom, because that nose & eyeballs down on the table
was getting old real fast. I also tried the to-the right or to-the-left corner
position but wasn't getting very crisp images...to rocky for me.

Ha ha ha.....quite the thread killer that one was!!
But I have to give my input too.....I prefer center/center.....smack dab center....no problems with uneven pressure that way. Make sense? Hope so.

I had been stamping for 10+ years when I got my first SU stamps to mount. I tried some in various places on the wood, but found that I now have an eye for centering when I stamp and couldn't get it right when my stamps were mounted any way other than in the center. I do like to be able to cut stamps apart and mount words on the end or other side of the wood block, though. I too love my stamp-a-ma-jig!!
