Default If you're debating wheather to get stampin up markers....

GET THEM!

I just got the whole set delivered on friday-which was a large purchase for my budget-and I have not stopped playing with them for two days! They are so worth the money!

I have always been impressed with Stampin Up! quality, but the markers, by far, are the BEST purchase I have ever made! The storage case is so great, the markers are so juicy, and I have just had the best time using them.

So far, my favorite thing to do with them is make multi colored images. I used the lovely leaves stamp set, and colored three different shades of green right on the stamp. The effect is beautiful!

Just wanted to share my excitement about this great product, as I know many customers are on the fence about getting them due to the price.

The MARKERS RULE!!! Save up and BUY THEM!

 I totally agree. I joined a marker club this past year and just completed my set w/the case in Mar. I LOVE THEM! It is so awesome to be able to coordinate everything. I too play with them a lot. The possiblities are endless. My favorite things are journaling with them and coloring with them. (Okay, I love everything about them. ) One of the best stamping investments I've ever made. The SU markers are by far the best quality markers. Stampmomma thanks for sharing your excitement. I couldn't agree more.

My markers are my most coveted stamping item. I use them more than I use anything else.

Default markers

I waited 2 years to get mine! I just got them on Jan 1st and hadn't used them very much, but yesterday I had a BALL with Art of Life and my markers!

Me too, I love my markers, never put them away (in fact, I never even snap them shut), however, I confess, I am also unwilling to share them. . . I guess I'm afraid someone is going to make them yucky. Am I being unreasonable?

You are so right about the markers! I am buying mine in the painfully slow process of one by one. That is the way it works best for me. I know I'm not getting the case, but it is so much better financially for me to buy them one at a time. I love that SU allows us to do that!

"Who needs these expensive markers? Crayolas are good enough!" That is what I use to say to myself when I first started stamping. I finally bought them about 2 years ago. I am so glad I did. I just had to make 6 huge posters for my daughters preschool. I took several of my stamp sets the first time I went in to work on them, but when I tried to color them with the schools markers they looked AWFUL!!!! So I just finished up at home. The difference in the posters is AMAZING!!! My posters will be displayed to the rest of the parents tomorrow. I will post the responses I get from them.
BTW when I did finally get them my demo did not tell me to store them on their sides. So I told several people I was unhappy with them, until someone finally told me to store them on their sides. Now I love them, and my DD's are alway begging to use them. THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS NO!!! (well almost always)

I never snap mine shut, either.

I do share them because if one gets ruined (and I haven't hat that happen yet...knock on particle board) you can replace them individually

Still do not have these, but I want them, I am just too cheap . . . but you guys have made me want them even more -- tell me this -- what is the advantage to buying the markers, over having all the ink pads and using blender pens on the lids of them.....

And, like I said, you can make multi colored images so easily. It just looks great on bold stamps. And, since you are coloring the stamp by hand, you have great precision and even coverage. The markers are FABULOUS!

How would you emboss an image that you've colored up with markers?
Does it affect your markers and the boldness of the color?

I really want these but am getting the inkpads first and then the markers will come later.

Glad to hear a great review for them

Default markers

I bought the whole set for my birthday recently. The case allows you to store them properly. too, and I never have to "find it" as I did with individual markers.
I was also able to use the exact color I wanted to color in a card; something I was not able to do with a limited supply and would never been able to guess which color I really needed.
When I was buying markers the same color as the stamp pad I purchased, I was not getting the light colors I needed to color-in images.

LOVE MY MARKERS!! Yesterday was really the first opportunity I had to use them very much since I got them last month. They are amazing. Juicy with brilliant colors. They are great for direct stamping and for filling in places that were not completed stamped.

I agree!! I bought mine last year and use them all the time. I am currently living with only the markers, a black ink pad, versamark and blender pens. I am still able to have all 48 colors without my ink pads. Right now my favorite thing to do is watercolor with them. I scribble a little color onto a CD, and pick up the color with the blender pen. They are so worth the money!!

Default love those markers

I LOVE my markers. I got them via a marker club over several months...(the only way I could have afforded it) I just had to have that case. It makes it so portable and storable. I got them before I was a demo and I was scared to bring them to workshops once I became one because they are so great...but once I did I had no regrets. They take all the "love" my customers can dish out...unlike my blender pens that I've had to replace. Don't get me wrong... I love the blender pens too. But the markers are just plan reMARKable. (don't worry I won't get offended...I'm the only one that laughs at my bad jokes)

OH yeah, I love mine, too. So does my DD but she is forbidden to use them, unless I'm right there with her and she can only use the pen side.

I absolutely love my markers, too! Does anybody know if there is any way to buy just the case? I, too, have been buying them one by one (the price for alll 48 was a bit much to swallow). I really didn't think they were a necessity when I first started stamping but now I can't get enough! When I am watercolouring using the markers, I colour right on the case of my stamp set (not a CD) and it works great.

Funny, my DS loves to use them too, but we have the exact same rule as you do! Glad to know I am not alone! My older nieces wanted to use them this past week, boy I watched them like a hawk. I already said it in an earlier post, but I love my SU Markers!!!!!!

Unfortunately, there is not. You have to buy them all at once (or participate in a marker club that buys a whole set and then distributes them) in order to get the case.

Default positives for the markers...

I now only take a black ink pad and the markers to workshops. You can use the Aquapainters with them and touch the Aquapainter to the tip of the brush end to pick up color. You can color a stamp multicolored, or color the stamp 1 color quickly by using the side of the brush end. You can stamp in black, then color in the rest. You can color on the Polyshrink. You can tap them and get the splatter effect if you hit them hard enough. You have all the colors if you decide mid-project to change color. Deep colors, do not lessen under embossing...and fabulous with the new crackled glass technique under the glossy glaze enamel! The best part? When you stamp an image and one small spot didn't get inked correctly...just use your marker to draw in the missing area and you don't have to start over!

Default Markers

Hi, you can't buy the SU case for the markers, BUT, you can buy an empty ZIG case at Archivers. Go online if you don't have a store near you. I just got mine, and I took the ZIG logo out, since I am a demo, but I got my markers one color family at a time before I became one. And having the case makes a HUGE difference. I think ZIG makes the markers for SU, at least that's the brand SU used to sell before they started their own line. So the SU markers fit perfect in the case.
Hope that helps.

My set of markers will be here tomorrow! I can't wait! I've played with them at my demo/now-upline's house many times and have been anxiously awaiting the day when I would order my own.

My kids wanted to use my Stampin' Writes too, and I was always hesitant to let them. Then I had a customer buy a set of Stampin' Kid's markers for her children. I was SO surprised by them -- a set of 20 markers for $4.95. My kids each got a set for Christmas and now they have their own special set of Stampin' Up! markers. When I get mine out, they get theirs out and we have a wonderful time coloring together.

Caz- If the case isn't a big deal to you (or you want to get the Zig like someone said in a previous post) You don't have to wait for your markers while you are collecting your pads. When my SIL was a demo she would order the pad, marker, and CS of 1 or 2 colors with each order. That way it didn't cost a lot at one time and she always had the matching marker. Just a thought!

optotecha- How does your marker club work that you don't have any yet? The marker club I was in- there was 4 of us, each person recieved one color family per month and 1 person got the case. I don't think I could have standed to wait 4 long months if I was paying each month.

I am too cheap to buy the whole kitten caboodle of markers at once so I have been buying them 12 at a time. Works great and the only set I have left to get is the Soft Subtles. I can afford $29.95 much easier than $119.95. The only thing you miss out on is the great case. I don't mind though. I'll get it eventually. I LOVE MY MARKERS! So does my daughter. She knows the rules though. BE VERY CAREFUL! But, like someone else said, you can replace them individually if something happens. We didn't have much luck with the kids' markers when we got them, so I just let her go with mine. She's careful.

If someone asks, I strongly suggest getting the markers over getting the sets of pads (at least at first). The markers can be used just like a stamp pad. Kind of a pain with background stamps, but the markers are just so more versatile.

Love them!

I got my markers a year ago and just started playing with them two months ago...thanks to SCS...I got all of them because we had moved and needed $100 to meet my quarterly min. Anyway I had an Open House a couple of months ago and sold two sets to two people that had never stamped before. It seems like I use them all the time now!

Each stampin write marker has two tips --a pen like tip that is great for journaling and a brush tip that is great for coloring stamps, watercoloring images, etc.

With the exception of the black journaler, the journaling markers do not have a brush tip--so you cant really stamp with them, you only write with them.

HTH!
