Default How much room do you need to stamp?

I need a whole table to myself. I guess I really spread out. I am wondering how you people take your stamping to stores, parks, on airplanes and other places. How much room do you allow for each person at a stamp camp? Just curious.

I usually spread out on the dining room table...I love the room to put something aside if I am stuck for an idea...but still see it. Couldn't tell you about the others, I haven't tried stamping at a park, and I don't fly anymore. Good question though.....I am trying to picture stamping on a card table or something!

I now have a 6' folding table in the basement that I stamp on - enough room to lay out all my supplies, with a nice, clear work area left.

This is how bad I am: a couple of weeks ago, I was making a simple THANK YOU card, and I couldn't decide exactly how I wanted to do it. I had all my papers, embellishments, embossing stuff, cutters, punches, etc. spread out on the kitchen table. I ended up sitting cross-legged on the kitchen floor making the card with all of my supplies up on the table! In short, I think I actually may need an entire room when I get to stamping/scrapping!

I only have a 5'X6' L-Shaped table in my little area of the world and the computer is on it also but all my shelves, drawers and cabinets are all within easy reach. My daughter tells me she could not work in such a small place but it works for me.

On the other hand when I go to all day/weekend stampin' activities I always feel like I need to pay double because I take up the entire table that is meant for two people.

My demo has threatened(ha ha)to put me in her overflow room by myself!

I have made cards using a 2 ft. wide space on my kitchen counter (standing up!) The more space I have, the more I use. When I stamp on my dining room table, I wind up losing things (where are my deckle scissors? what'd I do with that slit punch?) just from spreading my junk all over the place!

I started with one 5 foot table and added another 4 foot table and think if I added three more tables....I would be good to go!!!!

Give it to me and I will use it!!!!

Robin

ps this is okay though cause I always feel in order to start another project, my tables must be cleaned first!

I try not to take up too much space, because if I get too much stuff out my kids tend to run away with it. LOL

I need a whole room and I cannot ever keep it clean. I have a desk for stamping but I end up using TV trays, my treadmill, the top of the dresser. I am a messy messy stamper. I clean it, organize it, and then immediately mess it back up. My DH just shakes his head and laugh but he doesn't care, the door always stays shut.

I can relate to this. Definitely the more space I have the more I use.

It all started with my desk in my stamp "office", which then spread to all 600 sq ft of our basement (four six foot tables, two card tables, 12 chairs and a ball as a chair, oh yeah, and the weight bench as a chair). Sometimes I go to town and make a MONSTER mess (then clean it up the next day and start all clean again! LOL!)

Other times when I want to spend time with DH watching Law & Order I use the coffee table and run up and down the stairs getting things I forgot!

I have not figured out how to take my stuff with me to stamp unless it's just coloring or cutting with scissors or something. I need WAAAY too much space!  :o

I used to stamp in a walk-in closet. I had a small desk for my stamping/scrapooking plus another small desk with two sewing machines. I got a lot of stuff done in that small little space.

Now I have an entire room just for me. I have a baby gate in the doorway so I can keep an eye on the kids in the adjoining playroom. No kids allowed, no dogs allowed, no DH allowed. They are all boys so basically...no penises allowed.

No matter HOW much space I end up with - the entire kitchen table, my own desk, etc - it always shrinks down to the 1 square foot rule.

That's my husbands rule. No matter how big the space is, you always clutter it up with so much stuff that you end up working in a 12"x12" space.

It's tried and true for us.

Default stamping space

I have a long table (with wire baskets/drawers on either side) with a longer table on my right in an "L". I still have stuff spread everywhere - on the floor, etc. I usually trip on something going in and out of the room. I also have my son's old twin bed behind my chair. I want to move it out of the room (where to I haven't figured out yet) but what will I do with all the stuff I have piled on the bed????
I also have a small tv/vcr combo in one corner of the "L". Sometimes things get so piled up, I can't see the screen .... much less find the control!!!

I clean up & within a day, it's back to the mess again!!

Yesterday though I spent all day organizing my SU cardstock & putting it into individual hanging folders. I even cut out little squares of the color & put on the tab. So I want to be organized ... it just doesn't always work!

What's so funny is that I do a card group for my New Neighbors group and everytime, they comment on how organized I am. If they could only see my room!!

I'll spread out in however much space is available to me! But after I spread everything out, I end up doing the actual work on a wooden tv tray. Amazingly, I don't need all that much room to actually do the work.

I had to move my bed, etc. out of my master bedroom, clean all the clothes out of both closets (stamping storage...cardstock shelves) ...good thing I live alone!...it's now my stamping room...and when I stamp I have stuff all over and layer it on top of any surface I can find...I never have enough room!

By the way my bed is in the medium bedroom...all I do is sleep there...so who cares if it's a little small!!!

Well at this point I need a room of my own and that is coming soon. It's not my stamps that are taking up space (I have all of my stamps in CD cases), it's all of the EMBELLISHMENTS! I am a major Accessory Freak!!!

Cardstock, heat tool, Melting pots, glue guns, stamp pads, UTEE, polymer clay, toaster oven, scrapbook accessories, dollar store fun findings, Idea Books, etc. However I have a "stamp lounge" which on the side of my home. I would post pictures but it's looking mighty scary in there with stamps and ribbon everywhere lol.

I have a large office desk table to spread out, and then I have a large cabinet that store my stamps, Sizzix alphabets, 12 x 12 cardstock, binders, etc. Then I have another cabinet that I store my Sizzix, Xyron, UTEE, Twinkling H2Os, and new dies I got not long ago (some are unopened  ). Then plenty of Iris carts of different sizes.

I will need a lot of room though LOL.

Too much space is a baaaaad thing for me too. I never put anything back. Since I downsized from the kitchen table I have got a lot more done.

I have a small, but full size, desk my dad made for me when I was a kid. It has a cd holder he built when I got older that I hung on the wall for some supplies. It has seven drawers and I have 2 portable paper holders one for each size. I have a wheely cart from Garden Ridge and one small bookshelf for catalogs and reference materials. The whole thing takes up 1/2 a wall in our tiny master bedroom.

I keep a drawer for scraps and one for current projects.

Sorry so long, I am just so happy with the new setup.

OKay, you ladies will DIE when you hear how much space I use!!
Here goes, I have many wheeled/drawered things, but the area that I actually stamp on is a wooden TV tray!! (14 inches x 20 inches!) My husband just said the other day "I cannot believe that you stamp in such a small area!" What can I say, I am a very tidy stamper!!!

LOL! It's like diaper bags. When my DD was born I carried around a duffle bag thingy! I noticed more experienced Mom's with MUCH smaller bags... so I bought one and sure enough it worked... and my shoulders didn't hurt so much!

So I have most of a 5' table with some stuff on it, somehow while I get to working the space just shrinks! I've found myself hunched over 10 inches of space trying to use my 12" cutter b/c of all the supplies strewn about!

Default How much room do you have???

I can stamp in any size space, but I tend to expand to my space!!! I will get 3 or 4 projects going at the same time, (I think I have ADD!!!) and then I can space out over 2 or three rooms!!! It depends on how much room is available to me at any given time!!! I try not to take over the whole house, but sometimes it happens !!!

I think my table is a 9' footer and it still isn't enough room, LOL. I wonder just how much room would be enough room for me!!!
