Default Cutting down your 12x12 cardstock to use for cards

Please keep this in General Discussion so I can get input from non-demos and demos too!

I was a SB'er before I started stamping, so when I placed my first SU cardstock order, I ordered the 12x12 assortment packs in addition to the 8.5x11. I'm a new demo and I'm having an Open House Friday and I'm scrounging for some more SU cardstock, so I'm going to cut up my 12x12 cardstock. Not all of it, though. I do want to do a sample 6x6 SB page for my Open House to show the SBing stuff that SU has.

This might be a dumb question, but do you just cut enough off to make a piece of 8.5x11 cardstock, then use the rest for scraps??
