The Winter Olympic Games have officially begun and here's your second challenge! This is the chat thread for this challenge.
I'll be here for the next two hours if you need anything!
Here is the challenge:
The Olympic rings were created in 1913 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Movement. The five rings represent the five major regions of the world: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. To many people, the rings represent eternal unity among all nations. People also believe that the rings symbolize universality, because the whole world is involved in the Olympics and everyone recognizes the symbol of the Olympic rings.
Your challenge is to create a one-page layout based on this sketch. This sketch is from Becky Flecks website and it includes many circles, or rings. For this challenge, I really want you to focus on the circles on the layout. How do the circles relate to each other? How do the circles relate to your title? How do the circles relate to your photo? These are all questions you can ask yourself as you are designing your page. You dont need a lot of journaling if you dont want to, because this page is focusing on uniting the circles with your title and photo.
Follow the sketch as you like! Don't forget to finish in under two hours!

PLEASE NOTE: the large circle in the sketch doesn't have to be a ring of flowers or beads like both Peggy and I did! It can be a large circle of paper/cardstock or a large photo or whatever you want!

Hi Betsy! Love that sketch and of course your guys' pages!! AWESOME! Question about it though. Can I change this into an 8 1/2 x 11 page or does it have to be a 12x12? Wondering as my boys' books are this size. THANKS!

Of course you can do 8.5 x 11!!!!!! The sketch is a BASIC guide, you can alter it any way you like! (as long as it is pretty similar, at least!)

I had every intention of NOT doing my sample with the ring of flowers, but this just worked so well with this photo.
I agree, this would be fun with some great cardstock.

I LOVE the way it turned out with the ring of flowers! You did an awesome job on your page! I just wanted to make sure everyone realized that they don't have to do it that way, kwim?

Looks like another fun challenge. Looking at some of the stuff thus far, I have a long ways to go yet...but hey, you gotta start somewhere!
must go grab some lunch & will then be back!
When I was working on my page for this challenge, it was the first time I had to use "Un-do". I was so nervous, but it worked fine and didn't ruin anything!

yes, you have until Monday (tomorrow) midnight EST to get your pages uploaded!
I love the samples and the sketch. Even though I don't have to do it with flowers, I just might, because I love Primas!! I just recently got into them. Got to go do a quick mystery shopping trip at Walgreens, can walk there, be back soon to scrap!
The sketch and samples are in the challenge thread in a sticky note at the top of the VSBN forum. Forums at Splitcoaststampers
So be sure to check it every two hours for the new challenge details!
Great one Betsy, I'm off to a slow start as I just got my other pages uploaded and chatted with my people who can need me when I least want them to!
