This bonus challenge is a bit different from the first three, but this is a real need. Please consider joining in.
MommaPatti, is a nurse in the NICU at Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center. She recently asked the girls that chat with her if they could make some cards for her to use there. They typically send cards to parents whose newborns don't make it, and she thought the more personal touches of a hand-stamped card seemed nicer than the generic stuff the hospital provides. She also asked that the cards be 5"x7" so that each card has plenty of room for everyone to sign, and also that they not be heavily embellished so that it's not difficult for people to sign the inside of the front of the card. (I decided to pair this bonus with this week’s regular challenge because fibers usually lie flat!)
Keyword: LSCbonus5 Stamps: baby/sympathy Size: 5x7 Paper & Ink: any Embellishments: If you use any, make them as flat as possible. Fibers work great! See this week’s challenge: LSC98!
We've had a baby sympathy challenge before. You can get ideas or even CASE standard sized cards from that challenge. Here's the link:
Patti said she could provide envelopes. For anyone to mail the card to her, they could maybe just use a half-size manilla envelope.
Patti's address is
Patti Tkacz
8510 Renwood Dr.
Parma, OH 44129
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!

Yeah! Thanks for doing this challenge Jen! I unfortunately have a huge demo to do tonight so won't have time to get to it today but maybe over the weekend! Please everyone, let's flood MommaPatti's mailbox with cards for those parents who are grieving! Thank you!!!
Thanks to Jen, Tammy, and all you wonderful SCSers for helping us out!! I can't tell you how much it will mean to those parents who have lost a little one to receive your beautiful hand crafted cards. They will know how much people truly do care!
Thank you again, ladies (and gents) for your willingness to share your talent!

Those of you who "know me" know that I have a son who is much younger than my daughter...what you probably do not know is that I lost 2 babies while desperately trying to conceve him. This story has a happy ending, but I will never forget the ones I lost.

Well, Jen, this was a tough one - I lost a son almost 30 years ago and will never forget him, so this was near and dear to my heart. It will be sent to the address you provided.

This was such a sad card to make as I couldn't help but think of the parents who would eventually recieve it. There can be nothing so heartbreaking as losing a child.
I will send this off to Patti in the morning. Thanks for challenging us with this very worthwhile project. Here's my card
I made these cards last week for my demo to send to the local hospital. I have an extra that I would like to contribute. Thank you for the opportunity help out.
Child Sympathy Cards: Girls and Bunny
Oops! I just realized that the card size is 5x7. I did 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Can I still send it? There won't be a lot of signing room, but the thought is still there.......
This is very near and dear to me, too. Both of my precious boys are NICU 'graduates,' having spent 4 and 6 weeks there respectively. NICU nurses are definitely the hearts and hands of neonatal units. I know they get very close to the families and their hearts break often in the work they do. I will definitely get send a couple soon.
Here is my contribution to this challenge. Made several of these to send to Patti.
I have so many different fibers and this was great to be able to use them finally. Thanks for the challenge to dig these out of the storage area. Still have lots more to use, maybe I'll keep them out for awhile.
My angel card Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I love this sentiment from River City Rubberworks, but the card didn't turn out as baby-like as I'd originally envisioned. It seems more all-purpose sympathy, but I'm going to go ahead and send it anyway. I don't know about the rest of you who made a card for this challenge, but I couldn't help but wonder whose hands this particular card would eventually end up in. God bless them, whoever they are.

PLEASE still send it!! The 5x7 size requested was to allow the NICU nurses room to sign. We can just write smaller! Thank you for your effort on these beautiful cards!
Sarah (illustamper) and Darla (dardar4j), your lovely creations arrived today! Wow, your notes of encouragement, and generosity in donating are so very appreciated!!
Darla, thank you so much for the extra cards and envelopes! Your cards are beautiful!! And Sarah, i love your gorgeous card with the Carte Postale and Enchante papers...please can I case this beauty?
Last night I took the first set of cards I received into work. All the nurses I work with were ooohhing and aaahhing and could not believe how much time and work you wonderful gals put into these handcrafted beauties. They were overwhelmed with your caring spirit and generosity. (One of them said, "thank God we don't have to send those crappy (oops, can I say that?!) generic cards anymore!") I know that we nurses truly appreciate your donations, and how much more it will mean to the grieving mommys and daddys we care for! Thank you, thank you, thank you again!
You SCSers that do the challenges certainly are a great group of ladies!! I received more cards this past Friday, Saturday and today from Julie, Kathy, Dawn (DawnL), Stephanie (Smilyn Stef) and Carole (TruCarMa). You ladies have not only encouraged the hearts of the moms and dads of our NICU babies, but me as well. Thanks not only for your gorgeous creations, but all the notes of encouragement you've sent me, too! Words aren't enough to express gratitude, but I will try, however meagerly: THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!!
Giving this thread a little bump. If you're not a member of the RAK forum, then you won't see that Patti has requested help again with stocking the sympathy cards in the NICU. If you have some extra time, please consider helping out again!
I was touched to see the outpouring of affection and thoughts and cardmaking for this cause. Having been in the tragic situation of losing a baby, I can tell you that your efforts will be treasured and appreciated.
