This is a possible solution to the CASING Conundrum threads that pop up here semi regularly. These threads are usually a negative and hurtful way to spend time, and don't seem to solve the problem!
So why not be proactive and get the word out where it will do the most good? THE GALLERY!
If you are one of the artists who, if CASED, wants credit/recognition for your work, why not put "Anyone who wishes to use my creation, please credit me with "your name/scs name/whatever" in your CASE."
Likewise, if you are an artist who uploads pictures without a care as to CASING credit, put THAT in your upload comments- "CASE me til the cows come home!"
This will serve to let people know your position on CASING your card, it will also notify those gallery stalkers who don't visit the forums and it's a more proactive way to educate people on the CASING Conundrum. THIS DOES NOT BY ANY MEANS SUGGEST I SUPPORT BLATANT CASING AS IT APPLIES TO CONTESTS ENTRIES, ETC!!! But for demo use, this would be helpful.
If you support this idea, pls add a line to your signature to spread the word!

I think this is a wise idea. I'm one of those people who doesn't care or need credit when Cased (mostly because I'm the CASEr), and since I don't enter contests and I'm not a demo, I rarely tell the original creator that I've been inspired by them. I am not trying to be hurtful or offensive or dismiss their need for credit.

What a smart idea
I always love it when someone cases a card of mine and it has only happened a time or two and it just made me feel warm and fuzzy all over!
One thing though, I was just headed off to my gallery to edit all my recent uploads to say "CASE til the cows come home" but then I thought that I might sound a little arrogant even to suggest that something I made was good enough to be CASEd...KWIM??
This is a great idea! It is an unresolvable issue, as everyone has their own opinion. So, make a statement, and let people know. Then, it is done, voila!! :-D
too bad we couldn't upload a sound file w/it! i KWYM with the feeling arrogant bit, but try not to think of it that way- think of it as doing a public service! i felt that way too, but added in mine "i probably cased it here myself" to make me feel better! lol!
personally, if i ever came up with something amazing enuf to enter in a contest, i would not upload it til the contest was over. if it's that important to someone, keep it secret and don't upload! the gallery was made for sharing and inspiration and we're mostly using all the same stuff - can't help but look similar... ;)
They probably have! I CASE lots and lots because the ideas here are AWESOME. I just haven't graduated to uploading anything yet! So, you may have been CASEd and just not know it!
I have yet to see something "bad" here on SCS - thanks to all!!!
Oh yes, please case away til the cows come home! Just remember to never upload anything you may want to send to a publication and you'll be just fine!!

Great idea! Another thing I just started doing is to send a PM to the person who inspired me and give them the link to my CASEd creation. That's always been well-received.

Oh, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this...I'm relatively new here and have always wondered if some people would mind me CASING their cards...thanks for helping clear this up!

Case all you want....I'll make more. Remember that Doritos commercial several years ago that was something like that? Crunch all you want, we'll make more.
People are more than welcome to case my cards.....Hehe....I don't think I have to worry too much about it though....I think people tend to case more elaborate and decorative looking cards and I don't make those.
Does it count as casing if you are on SCS all afternoon and dream about cards? I am pretty sure that one of my recent creations was inspired by one of the cards I saw that day- but I looked at so many I could tell you which one. I just woke up that morning and had the card design in my head and had to make it. I hope I didn't offend anyone- but I don't know if I actually CASED it or just came up with it in my sleep.....I dreamed about cards all night long.
Now on the other foot (the shoe that is...) I wouldn't mind being cased- and I wouldn't really care if I got credit- but it is nice only because I know someone liked my card enough to try and copy it! But I don't need it. It has only happened once that I know of- and I was quite flattered.
I've cased a couple cards..........one for my christmas cards and one with the flower made from the oval punches. I just thought they were cute so I made them for friends.
I'm under the impression that the issue is from someone uploading a card and claiming it as their idea????
Thanks for all the great ideas.
Kelley
If I use a card that I've put in my favorites, I try to PM the person and let them know I've used it and put that notation on the back with my initials; but since I don't upload, it will never appear in the gallery. Someone receiving it may put in a RAK gallery and I want to make sure the original artist gets credit.

I think some people are very "personal" about their work, but don't hesitate to put it on the internet for everyone to see. I personally wouldn't care if someone copied a card of mine EXACTLY and didn't "give me credit", because I really don't care! Once it's on the internet, I look @ it as "public domain". I think people should just take it as a compliment if someone CASE's their card and not worry about the 'round about "pat on the back" that may come from it.
I agree that some people are just a little more "personal" about their work. I cased a card I saw at my demo's and then posted it here as part of the Christmas card challenge. I noted that I case'd it but did not know who did the original creation. Well, the person who created it left a kind of nasty comment on my card like I was trying to take credit for it. I was crushed. I said I case'd it what more did she want. I would be flattered if someone case'd one of my cards. I guess she wasn't.

I case cards but not exactlly as they are.I ususally use it more for layout ideas and add my own personal touches after.since I don't always have the same stamps or embellishments as a lot of people.
