I am thinking about going to this Stamp Show

Now I have never been to anything like this. Are these any fun? Do a lot of people attend. I am not interested in taking any of the classes so is it even worth going to?

I have not been to that particular company's show. Did go a couple of years ago to one of Auntie Amie's Stamp Conventions. It was jam packed with people -- all looking for the bargain stuff. Great fun and hectic at the same time (ordinarily I don't like hectic).

I live in Michigan and they had one this summer. It was smaller than the other show we usually have (can't remember the name right now) but I really enjoyed. Plus I won $50 to spend at the show. There were probably 20-25 vendors so I could find things I wanted but it did not take me all day. When it was here in Michigan they had a make and take dessert the night before and some classes too. I went to the make and take and was happy with the majority of things we made. Some people that took the classes were happy with those.

I went to that one when it was here a few months ago. I enjoyed it. It was the first one I had ever been to. I spent way much money. Took my oldest ds as punishment and he enjoyed it too.

My mom and I go to different shows all the time. We love it. Spend way too much money but we have a good time. There is one about 4 hours from my house that we have been going to for 2 years. We spend the night and shop the next day.

A friend and I are going to the make and take friday night. Her upline told her it was really good and she will be teaching a part of it. We are also going to the show on Saturday. Inky Antics will be there if you like there stuff. Let me know if you need their coupon, I think if you spend $50 you get a free stamp.

HI, haven't been tp that show but been to this one in the Saint Louis area, most of them take credit cards or checks, some vendors may not be set up for credit cards...but will take checks....I won the huge attendance prize at the one in Saint Louis in 2006...really cool...my father had just died that week, and I was out and about with friends....and won,...I cried people thought I was crazy, I told the convention coordianator why I was crying, she cried too.....
but....it way really fun, there are usually demonstrations or samples you can make, we had a great time, ran into local stamp store people and just had a good time....worth the effort,....and you'll find cool stuff!

Hi - I went to this exact show last year in Mesquite and I was pretty happy with it...I bought a lot of unmounted stamps for very inexpensive. They also have lots of mounted as well, and tons of good ideas to look at. It is not a huge show, but i thought the vendors were good. I am thinking of going to this one again, since I missed the one last weekend in Grapevine. I live in Plano, so it is a little drive, but not bad...

Yes, the vendors do and online tickets you can use one too. I have never seen anyone pay for a ticket at the door with a cc however.

And YES, they are FUN!!

Bring a camera (it's nice to ask the booth if it's ok before you shoot as there are just a few that don't like it) AND a notebook. That way you can watch demos and take notes to go along with your pictures. If you're like me you won't be able to remember everything! Decide on your budget BEFORE you go if necessary.

If you're on a fixed budget you might want to make it all the way around quick before you start shopping. I hate it when I buy something and find it a few $ cheaper 3 booths down.... But don't pass any super bargains by because they won't be there long. Sometimes a company will have a 'stamp of the day' that they sell for a reduced price till they're gone.

If you've got something particular in mind research it before the convention. Then you will know if the price is right or not. Sometimes they are - sometimes they aren't!

Have a little spare time between now and then? Sit down with your DD and make some trading pins for her to trade! Get there 30-45 minutes early and go down the line looking for traders! This is a lot of fun! I use cold laminate sheets on the front of the pin and leave the back just cs. Then I use a small piece of strapping tape to tape one of those small quilter's safety pins on the back for a pin back. Very inexpensive, and it stays on lots better than the pre-foam taped ones. (I hate getting home and having a naked pin back on my vest!) OH, have her wear something that she can display her pins on. A vest, a lanyard, or a hat!

trading pins, and at the show in st. louis there were also ATCs and I love the unmounted stamps.....saves a bundle.....have fun
