An invitation to Newbies/Lurkers: Post a Card in the Gallery!
I'd like to invite all of you newbies and lurkers to post your creations!
I know it takes a lot of courage to post to the site. So take a deep breath, and DO IT! Then come back to this thread and post a link to it so we can see it, shower you with compliments and encourage you to post some more! Experienced stampers, I'm counting on you to help make all these brave newbies feel proud!
If you need help with uploading or posting the link, please PM and I'll help you.
As long as your stamped images are solidly stamped (no half-images), your layers have clean edges (no fuzzy edges) and are mounted evenly (not crooked, unless that is the design of course), your colors coordinate, and you stamped *your* best, no one will laugh at your card. I promise.
If you love SCS, you will love it even more if you start posting your cards.
TO UPLOAD A CARD
Once you have the .jpeg file, then you are ready to upload. Log in to SCS if you aren't already. Then click on Upload a Card.
When the page comes up, choose a category for your card. This is usually whatever the main stamp set used was. [If it was a 3-D project, then it would go in that category]
The next box down is where you specify the jpeg image from your computer that you want to send to SCS's computer. Click on the Browse... button to the right of white box. You should be able to click on My Documents or whereever and then the filename of your saved images. Once the filename of your card is highlighted, click ok or save (can't remember which it is). This should put the name of your file into the white box.
Ignore the URL question. (I do)
If you want to be notified when someone leaves a comment on your card, change the 'no' to a 'yes'
Click on Upload/Submit. [now you wait]
When the next page comes up, you should see your card on the left side. Fill out the empty boxes with the appropriate information:
Description is a little blurb about it
Keyword: put the technique you used, or certain product if that is a key feature....otherwise you can leave it blank.
Stamps, Ink, Paper, Accessories: put what you used.
Technique: if you used a certain technique, put it here. ....this helps when searching the gallery for something specific
Then hit Process Files and now you really wait....usually this is at least 2-3 mintues.
TO ADD A LINK TO THIS THREAD:
To add a link, first go to your gallery and click on your sample so it is the main image. Then go to the top of your browser where the http://..... is. Use your mouse to highlight the whole URL and then press on the right mouse button and select 'Copy'. Go back to this thread, post a reply and then in the text window, click on it with your mouse. Press the right mouse button and select 'Paste'. There! You have just done a 'copy and paste'. Now we can all see your creations!
Does all that make sense? If not, ladies, please let me know and I will try to clarify!
Please read this post too...it has some very helpful tips that help the gallery administrators keep the gallery running.... Forums at Splitcoaststampers

I would love to start posting cards and scrapbook pages.... but I don't know how... I'm challenged when it comes to anything techincal. I do have a scanner and have learned how to scan my cards and attach them to an email so my mom can see them. Is this much harder? I would love to have my own gallery too! Any help would be great. I'm a lurker waiting to come out of the closet!!
I promise I will start my own gallery, it is just I have no scanner and we left our digital camera at my MIL's house. They are coming to visit next week, so I promise I will post then. Honest!
OK, I took the plunge! This is probably about the second or third card I made. It was just before I found SU. I hope this works! lol Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
well, I went to the home page and tried the section that said "upload a card" and all it does is have me sign in again and then goes to the gallery.... sorry if I'm an idiot. I just dont know what to do next. I also started reading the thread you posted about the stuff and it seems over my head. I would have no clue how to crop out extra white space and I know nothing about the file sized and all that stuff. Bummer, I have a bunch of cute cards I'd love to share. I'm just a basic stampin girl most of the time, not a lot of time consuming techniques, but still I think they are cute.
themrs, you are not an idiot! It took me forever to figure out how to upload a card (and I have a degree in computer science, albeit an old one long before SCS ever existed!).
Before you can upload a card, you have to scan it with a scanner or take a digital picture. When they were talking about the white space, she meant that if you are scanning a card, the scan will contain the card and all the extra space around the card on the scanner bed. You need to use the scanner software to "crop" around the card so that it is the only thing in the image. Save the image as .jpeg this should be an option in your scanner software. If you are taking a digital picture, then zoom in as much as possible so that the card takes up the whole picture. (As lovely as someone's tablecloth is, we want to see the card, not the tablecloth it is sitting on)

OK - I'VE DONE IT!! I've uploaded a card and a candle. Wow - I can really see all my mistakes. My glitter totally did not cover the whole area. Yikes! I'm off to upload a few more cards - yet another addicting thing about this site - Oh and thanks for the encouragment!!!
Both of the cards on here are beautiful! I did go to the gallery and the blue lighthouse card is lovely too!
I'm glad that challenge has been put out here. I must admit I've not posted anything yet  but it's because I have no way of posting- I'm capable (I think) I just don't have the technology yet!

I promise I will post something sometime. I'm scanner challenged - but my husband is not so when he comes back from his business trip I'll enlist his help. My only problem is that when I make a card I make it at the very last minute and I usually have to get it to the recipiant as soon as the glue dries  so I don't even get a chance to show it off. I could always try to upload some scrapbook pages, I do a lot more of them than cards. And I promise that I won't makes cards at the last minute anymore .
OK...hopefully this isn't too much of a hijack (and sorry if it is... :? ) but now that I've uploaded mine into the gallery I can't find it in there...how do you do that?

staci, you have to wait for it to be approved. You will get an email saying it has been approved, and then you can see it and your newly created gallery.
Thanks so much for this post!
I lurk extensively at SplitCoast but never thought
about uploading anything! LOL
Here (I hope I did it right) is the link to my newly created gallery which shows 2 early attempts in my card-making life:
OK Gals....I POSTED!!! I've been lurking for a few months. I teach card making classes (not always involving rubber stamping). I generally do my own designs. I've been wanting to post, but since my computer is not "state of the art", it seems like it takes forever to scan and upload. I have ordered a new computer, and I hope to be able to post more when I get it hooked up.
I am de-lurking! I am a newbie to stamping (relatively new) and am posting one of my first cards. It didn't scan as well as I hoped but it doesn't look too bad. I visit this site at least once or twice a day. It is amazing how much inspiration this site can give you! Thanks for being here!
OK...so you have me convinced! I will scan my newest creation and upload it as soon as I get home (feed and water the dog, cat, chicks, chickens, rabbits, frog, fish, and of course feed and bathe the 3 kids and try to put them to bed at a reasonable hour!). Been addicted to (I mean enjoying) Stampin' Up for a couple of years now but fairly new to this site...done lots of lurking!
Okay. I uploaded a few cards (they are still pending). Will they automatically be put into my member gallery and the category I selected or do I need to do something to have a member gallery? TIA
