Default Any single/childless stampers out there?

Hello all - For those of you without a DH or children, raise your hand - not in defiance, but just so I can see you! ;)

I know that there are other avid stampers out there who are not married with children!

Just got married, but no kids, and I LOVE to stamp and scrap. People were always like "what do you scrap?" lol...my dog (of course), vacations, b-days, etc... really everything...

You can not IMAGINE the weird stares I get when I tell people that I stamp because the stamp world is pretty much dominated by married women/women with kids.

It's funny because my two best customers aren't married. Single women are a great undertapped market!

Default Single and kid less

Hi, I'm single and no kids. When I give someone something that I have made or show them the cards I have for sale, they all ask how do I find the time to do it with a full time job. When I say I have no one at home but my dog, they just go, OH.

I love it when I can stamp anytime.

I'm single with no children also, 38 years old. I love the fact that I have time for my stamping and can do what I want to when I want to. Don't you just love it when people keep asking you the question "why aren't you married?" Like there is something wrong with you because you're not married.

I'm single, no kids, and 38 yrs. old. People do look at you like you're damaged or something because you're not married. It's nobody's business anyway. Even if I do get married someday (not likely as I have no boyfriend), I can't have kids as I had a hysterectomy on my 30th birthday. So hello all you single old maids!!!!!!!!! *waving*

Default Amen!

I'm married 7.5 years with no kids and had to stop doing workshops for a while because it added to my depression about it so much. We're infertile and want kids but can't.

Everytime I meet someone new at a stamping event I get asked the kid question, then comes "How long have you been married?" when I say the whopping 7 years I get the "dammaged" look.

With those who know me it's become the joke that I can only make the cards I do because I don't have kids, which is so FALSE!

I actually started a support group in the forums for stampers who are infertile since there is no "oh you'll know what I mean when you have kids or pg" for us.

I'm with ya on the stamping world being dominated by Mom's with kids especialy scrappers. Sometimes a girl can feel lonely out there with no kid pages to share.

Married 14 years, chose not to have children. however, I do own a day care center! mainly because I love to play with toys! LOL!
Sarah, I feel so badly for you! DH and I chose not to have children. I cannot even begin to imagine being in your position.
I was adopted. I was 6 weeks old. I always knew i was adopted. I grew up in a wonderful family, and have no desire to find my birth mother.

About scrapping pages:
I scrap:
my pets
my family
myself
nature
car trips
even shoes!
I scrap anything that feels relevant to my life at the moment. BTW, here's my Shoes page:

Michelle I LOVE the shoes page and left a comment.

I scrap just about anything too (heck my Dog even has his own album) I just freaked out for a while there and wondered who am I documenting all this stuff for?

I've gotten over it and don't care if my albums are used for firewood when I die. They give me joy here and now, thats whats important.

Hubbie and I are open to adopting but can't afford it at the moment. We're only 30 so we do still have time to become parents if that is in our plan.

Sarah - I'm sorryto hear about you and your husband, but I can tell you that a woman I used to work with waited until she was 45 to marry and she and her DH adopted a year later from China. She's a great mom and is crazy in love with her little girl. I think their bond is really very special because it was made through mutual will, not blood. (((hugs to ya)))

DH and I have been married for 9 years, together for 13, and have no kids, with no plans for any. I'm a teacher -- that's enough kid time for me.

Married no kids yet but we are in the process of adopting. I understand that a lot of women get into scrapping because of their kids but I have always loved art and crafts so I don't why people automatically assume you must have kids to be interested in these hobbies. I've been married to my DH for 6 years and most people we know well didn't ask when we were going to have kids. I think they assumed because I am a "career woman". whatever. We weren't ready before and now we are. We're on our own time schedule and no one else's. Don't let anyone make you think you're "weird"! ;)

Whenever someone I didn't even know would ask me why we don't have kids I would say something like " Well I love kids but according to the judge my husband isn't allowed within 100 yards of them." Talk about some shocked looks! HAHAHA!! seriously when did it become o.k. to quiz people about their life choices and their reproductive abilities?

not married and no kids on this end! And still, STILL I don't have time to stamp as much as I want *LOL* There's something terribly unfair about that, but whatever.

I know about the whole "what's-wrong-with-you-since-you-aren't-married" thing. My mom found a shirt that sums it up perfectly: It's better to have loved and lost then to have lived with the psycho for the rest of your life

Stamp on single (and also you married) gals!!

Single, almost 41 with no children (don't really want any, either). I don't scrap much, but I love making cards. I also love doing lots of other crafts. I started today knitting a scarf for SIL birthday next month.

Funny! My brother tells people they are too busy practicing & people usually leave them alone after that.

I love these creative responses to not being married or having kids.

Maybe next time I could say... "I did/was but (they, he, she) kept messing with my stamps and cut into my stamping time so (they, he, she) had to go"

LOL I did tell my friend the only thing kids are good for is that they make cute scrapbook pages. Of course I was kidding, but some days I mean it when I hear all the bad things other people's kids do.

Not married, but living with my boyfriend for 8 years. In fact, I have no plans to marry ever! Things are just perfect the way they are. I also don't want children, so I guess I'm atypical all the way around. My life pretty much revolves around my dogs though, so I'm still pretty busy!

I scrap my dogs, my niece, and some adventures with my bestest friend Ericka. I stamp too! Cards, scrapbooks etc. and am an SU demo in addition to a full time job.

Trust me I know how you feel! I am 31, single, childless (can't have kids due to Turner's Syndrome) and the only one in my Stampers 10 who is! Needless to say I feel like I have NOTHING in common with them or my demonstrator cause all they talk about is their kids haha...but I am proud to be independent and not need a man to support me. I even have just bought a condo on my own! And when my out of town BF comes to visit me from Calgary I feel like my space is being intruded upon haha

Hey, I'd given up hope of ever meeting the right man and having kids. We met, got engaged 7 weeks later, married 9 months after that , right before I turned 37(no, not for that reason!). 11 months after the wedding DS1 arrived, 21 months later DS2 arrived and we celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary in February and I turn 43 in April (sob). But, it does happen. I've only been stamping 1 year and loving it and I don't scrapbook anything - I don't see the point (sorry all you great scrapbookers)

Interesting thread! I'm happily married, am 42 years old and we have no kids. No plans to have any at this point, either! I don't scrap, but love to do cards. I do think this is a hobby dominated by mothers, but there is still a fair number of us childfree/childless stampers (whatever you want to call it). I wish I could find more people my own age without kids that have an interest in stamping. Aside from my demo, my group is older and most with kids (I think...I'm new to the group). But even though I don't have kids, I still find it hard to stamp as much as I want. When you work full time, keep you house relatively clean, etc., not much time left in the day. I admire the mothers on this site who can stamp as much as they do and still keep the family running strong. Kudos to them!

I love the "Dh is not allowed 100 yards" comment!
I tell people the truth...I'm just too selfish to be a parent. I do not want to spend my Saturday mornings at a hockey rink, or soccor field. i do not want to spend my hard-earned money on braces. I like staying up late and sleeping in. I like eating cheetos for supper. I do not want to share my toys.
I teach pre-school, so I get my fix of children from 7:30-5:30 Monday to Friday. I love kids, I love teaching. I also love my nights and weekends to myself!
I applaud the parents who selflessly take their kids to sports events on the weekends, stay up all night with their sick kids, sit through 2 hours of barney on ice. Some people are meant to be parents. Some (like me) are meant to teach other people's children!

I'm a 38 year old fertility challenged married stamper of 8.5 years (married that is - been stamping about 5 years). I never wanted to get into scrapbooking as I don't have kids, so I stuck to cards for the longest time. A good friend dragged me into the scrapbooking world and I have several ongoing albums - wedding (complete!!), travel, family/friends. I have yet to start one of my furbabies (2 dogs, 3 cats). I really prefer making cards and I have no excuse not to stamp more often (no kids) but I don't - it's that horrible stamper's block that I've heard has been making the rounds! Is there a vaccination available?

Waving my hand here. Single and loving it. I can go any where and do any thing I want and I don't have to ask permission. Besides, just think of all the stamping time I'd have to give up if...

I'm married, but no human kids! Only furr-kids:mrgreen: DH is an avid golfer, so when he golfs, I scramp! And when he's home, I scramp:mrgreen: I'm lucky to have a guy who loves that I love my hobby, he never complains and often compliments my work! Gotta love it

Not married, and no kids. I have a career plan that has put most of that on hold, as I am getting ready to join the military. I do love my crafts though!
