Default who went to Michaels last night? what'd ya get?? =)

I went with my 4 yr old and had quite a fun time =-)
I got LOTS of kraft and white gift bags to stamp on and white tissue paper to stamp to coordinate....I also got a ton of ribbon, some grosgain, and gingham (i figure its cheaper then SU! at just $1.40 for 5yards after the 30% off!!) and I also got some brads, some of the 12x12 scrapbook paper in gingham (pink and blue to make some baby cards), a 'paper' of asst stitch colors, a 'sympathy' stamp (i dont have one yet)...and I THINK thats it =) they didnt have any new $1 stamps though I would have gotten some if they had for just $.70 each after the 30% off! =) I ended up saving over $25! YIPEE!!! =)

I got a bunch of candles and the mini scrapbooks out of the $1 bin. Can't beat getting them for $.70 a piece!

Bought 114 clay pots, some wood circles, mini claypots, wood half balls with the 30% coupon and the sizzix Easter egg with my 40%. Had intended to buy some of the new $1 stamps and got half way home and realized I'd forgot to look at them! Aagggghhhhh! Couldn't believe it! had my teenage DD with me so there was no going back even though I had found another 40% coupon in the parking lot as we were leaving

You all are soooo lucky to have a Michaels near you. It is over a 2 1/2 hr. drive to the nearest one here.....sigh. I am lucky, though, to have my wonderful friend shopping for me next week when she travels.

Yes, I went last night with my dd too. I got some replacements blades for my coluzzle and fiskars paper cutter and I also got some of the 25 cent ribbon and some yarn to do an afghan for the fair. There were quite a few people there.
Have a Blessed Easter!

I went too with my DS and DD and got a stazon in purple (wanted green but no go) then I got a bunch of those 1.77 glass vases. I'm gonna try using the etching technique I saw in the gallery. I'll post one if they work out. I also got a 'zine and some ribbon. I should have gotten the colorful bags with handles, got plenty of white already but must have been loosing it and forgot. I looked desparately for gamasol and chickened out over terpenoid, is that the same thing???
Yea mikes!

It would be quicker to tell you what I did NOT buy....LOL. Interestingly enough, my girlfriend who works there tells me that the Friday coupon for 50 percent off ONE thing draws way more people in than does the 30 percent off your total purchase. I thought that was odd since 50% is only 10 over the norm.

I went Friday morning....I wanted the 12x12 Craft Keepers for 74¢ but had to get a raincheck instead.....wanted the 1.39 photo boxes but had to get the raincheck......I bought 10 each of 3 colors of the small handled bags to use at a future workshop.......I vought 2 of the 1.77 glass cubr jars to try decopauging tissue to and then stamp and emboss on and use with a votive inside......I used my 50% off on a Versamark pad. I never seem to find anything I want to use the coupon for - that isn't already on sale!

Oh yeah. I got a coluzzle and the circle & oval templates, tons of paper (6 for $1), marbles to put in a vase I bought the other day and a small squiggle cat stamp. Not really much. No $1 stamps at mine either.

With my 50% I got a crimper. With the 30% off total Purchase I got the PearlEx Assortment (12 colors...including the ones SU! doesn't carry), some stickers for my sons, a refill cutting thing for my friskers rotary, a brayer, and some of the crayola color wonder sets for easter for my son.

Spent about $70 in two days...saved about $40.

Can't wait for the next big coupons.

I got the marker holder. It's pretty neat. Holds a ton of markers and folds flat for storage. Also 2 photo boxes for $3, an eraser for chalks (archival safe), and a bunch of other stuff. But NO new $1 stamps at my Michael's. Checked out 2 of them. Hope they're on their way.

My friend/downline and I went shopping at M's while waiting for our table at Olive Garden.

I got a shelf to put inside my closet to put my 6x6 albums on. the full shelf in the closet is full of albums and stuff, and I pile the 6x6 on top, which isn't good.

I also found some white acrylic (maybe?) photo holders with the 5 prongs...butterfly, star, etc. We've been looking for some to hold card samples on the tables at stamp camp.

I think this is all I got....

Default Just Curious

For Rawbanana~ I was just curious how the ribbon you got was cheaper than SU. If you only got 5 yards for $1.40 and SU's is 25 yards for $4.95-$6.95 than how was it cheaper :? ? Isn't SU's 5 times more for $2.05-.05 cheaper? I actually fornd a website that sells the grosgrain ribbon (all sizes) for $2.55 for 25 yards in the 7/8" size in about 20 different colors . I think it was cheapribbons.com or cheapribbon.com for anyone else who would like to check it out.

I stocked up on mini glass bottles for my stamp camp next month. We're etching on them. Picked up several of the white/kraft/color gift bag bundles. I picked up several of the $1.77 vases to etch as Mother's Day gifts. I also picked up a sizzlet set to go with the Sidekick I bought Friday with my 50% cpn.

Etching That sounds great! I've never seen that done with stamping. You'll have to post directions after you have the stamp camp.

mschoener - Here's a link to the finished product. It's in the SUB (demo only) gallery.
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Written directions for those unable to follow the link:

Clean the glass piece - you don't want any fingerprints, etc on there. Stamp image in VersaMark. Emboss with clear ep. Caution - glass gets hot when you heat it! After it cools, apply etching cream - I used Armor Etch, found at Michaels. Cream needs to sit on the piece for 5 minutes. Then run under plain tap water to remove excess cream and the embossing. You can use your fingernails to carefully scrape at the embossing to remove stubborn pieces.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much. I'm going to have to try this. I'm not a demo so I can't see your finished product, but your directions seem very clear enough.
