Default One of a kind cards or Assembly line type cards?

When making cards (NOT FOR SWAPS) do you make one of a kind cards, or do you make a few of the same kind? I almost always make one of a kind. Mostly because I am in the middle of experimenting with several things. I get excited and want to see what different creations I can come up with. By the way I don't have a definite vision of what the end result looks like until it is all done. I just create as I go along. What about you??

I do both. I prefer to make several of one kind so that I have them on hand (to use and to give as gifts), but when I run out sometimes I have to hurry to make just the one I need.

I always make two. That way I cut down on the 1/2 sheets of paper I have floating around my paper storage.

One of a kind here, but that is because my card "to do" list fills up quick and by the time I get the chance to sit down and make them, I have several to make (for diff. occassions) and do not want to make the same thing for each person. My goal is to make two of every creation so I can start a little stash for those times when I need a card quick and my three small children won't let me stamp.

I usually make a few and then move on to something else. I do have a touch of stamping ADD - I can't focus on just one thing!- but I try to make a couple so I am more productive. Or at least it seems like it to me.

I make one of a kind cards. I have tried but I just can't make the same card twice. I always want to try out something new and I make cards not because I need them, but to fulfil my creative streak. I just don't think it has been a good day if I haven't created something.

I am just starting up a card making business with my best friend and we are complete opposites when we make cards. I make one of a kind cards and I have to have a vision of what the card will look like when it is finished. I can't production line cards it bores the pants off me!
My friend experiments with the same stamp lots, keeps all the bits and pieces and then layers them into a card when she needs to make a card. Her way is far more efficient but I find it a little soulless, I have to be inspired to make a card. It is why I love this site so much, because although I can't get SU stamps, I find I get lots of inspiration from your wonderful examples.

I make 4 copies of each card I make. This way I can keep one and then have a stock of others I can send out. Of course, for my DH, I usually make one of a kind cards.

I always make 1 sample and then if I like it make 7 more. I have so many relatives and friends across the country and that is what they always get for their birthdays. A box of different cards. I get many requests for more so the production line works great for me!!

It depends:

Normal Cards:
I make 1 card since it usually takes me a few tries to get it right where I want it (unless it's after 2am and then I'm on fire)

But then I assembly line 3 more
2 - for my swap with my upline
3 - for my sampler box
4 - to put in hostess/recruit packs

But for Christmas cards and for other special events, I only make unique cards for about 5 people. The rest get the assembly line cards.

This really depends on the occasion. I'm with babyfactory on the Christmas card topic. A few people get unique one-of-a-kinds and the rest get assembly line. I don't think I could come up with 40+ unique ideas for Christmas cards all at once! I'm creative, but that's pushing the envelope.

I sell some of my cards to my mother-in-law. I make two of each card for her. She usually orders 20 at a time so she gets 10 different cards. I take pictures of every card I make so I can refer back to them for inspiration later. Or make them again if I want to. I just sold 18 to another friend of mine and I made 2 of some and one of others. I guess it just depends on the mood I'm in.

Mostly one of a kind - occasionaly two the same - rarely an assembly line. I like experimenting, so some may be similar - hopefully getting better as I go!

I love to do assembly line style. I design one card I love, then make a lot of them. I just love coming up with 1 design and then doing all the cutting, stamping, etc. at one time and sitting in front of the TV to do the assembly. I am still giving a handmade, self-designed card, but more than 1 person may get it. Unique is wonderful, I just don't have time to make 1 card at a time. I have 9 nieces and nephews!!

I do both. If I really like a particular card I make more. However, I just let the card create itself, very rarely starting with a vision of the end product. I will be CASEing some of the items in here very soon though!

For me it depends on how much I like the card

I tend to make at least 2 but usually more of one card - I create or case then when I find it is perfect enough then I will make more - most of the time I make at least 4 (2 sheets of cardstock cut in half makes 4 cards!)

hmmm . . .not assemble line, but I do like to make 2 cards of each. AND I am a habitual stamp set maker. I'll sit down and make 8 cards with the same set regularly. Of course all the cards are CASE'd from either here or Stampers Showcase . . . Suzanne

Default assembly

Assembly!! The most time consuming part of creating a card is the creating. Once that is done, making more is a cinch. My mom and I have a card sale once a year at our home for friends and family. When I make a design, I make eight. But then I never revisit that design again the exact way.

At Christmas, I make 120 cards and I can usually get them done in less than a couple of weeks. They are usually pretty involved. I just watch TV while I attach adhesive and assemble.

For one of the non-profit groups that I belong to, I make 25 thank you cards each year for people who donate trophy money.

When I first started stamping, I would always make one of a kind cards, and I was SO proud of my creations. I made good stuff. I enjoyed that a lot because I get to experiment and play around, but I found that it was taking me WAY too long to make each card. Then, when an occasion crept up, I had to make time to create a card, copy one of the ones I had previously made, or make a run to the local pharmacy to buy a card.

After a while, I realized that I couldn't remember all the good stuff I had done. So, I started making one full card and one card front each time. That helped with remembering, but still didn't help with efficiency. So, what I've doing for the past few weeks now is force myself to assembly line 4-5 of different occasion cards so that I have a stash when I need them. When my stash is somewhat substantial, I'll stop and go back to the normal bit, but I'll probably just make one-of-a-kinds for my VIPs (DH, best friend, mom & dad).

I have only made duplicates of a card twice, and both times it was for the same customer. I hate making duplicates. There are just too many new ideas and new things to try! Even my Christmas cards are all one-of-a-kind.

Most of the time I make 4 of the same card. I split them up between sending to family & friends, in a box to give as birthday/Christmas presents, and take some to work to sell to coworkers.

I tend to make just one of a kind cards if it is not for a swap! I always intend on making more than one, then when I have made the one I am ready to move on to another technique!

I always tell people to make more than one that way they have one on hand, but it is hard sometimes for me to do! There are just so many ideas out there and I want to try them all!!

It depends. If it's for a holiday, I come up with one or two designs I like and mass produce -- except for the nieces and nephew I send holiday cards to, and then I make different ones for each (even if only a little different). Can't have kids in the same household getting the same card!

Most times I have no idea what I'll end up with when I sit down at my table, nor even what set or colors I'll end up using. I just start stamping and playing around with stuff and hope I end up with great usuable creations.

Sometimes, I use the same layout and stamp set but then change the colors to make a set of 4 cards. These are great for impromptu hostess gifts or to give awa as small thank-yous.
