My sister and I just came back from the Ohio State Fair. She (Teri) and I along with my brother (Jay) entered many categories including bread, decorated cakes, cookies, candy, jewelry, wood turned items and scrapbook pages. We all did very well and I am so proud of them!!! All winning categories receive ribbons and some cash. 1st place gets a blue ribbon, 2nd place red ribbon and 3rd place white ribbon. Best of show (which is given to a 1st place ribbon winner) gets a large lavender rosette ribbon.

This is 2 years in a row for me. I could just burst with joy and had to share this.
Congratulations Kiki ---- my in-laws are taking my daughters to the fair on Friday. Now I sort of wish I was going with them so I could see your stuff. That is awesome!!!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS Kiki. That is so wonderful and what talent your family has. Actually, I want a little of all of the food. It sounds so good. I will go to your gallery and look at the pages.
Thank-you all for the kind words. Everybody loves recognition for a job well done and this place and the state fair are the best way for me to accomplish that since I seem to be stuck in a dead end job. Yeah I get some recognition at my job but I am really tired of trying to create new 5 ingredient recipes for smoked sausage. Plus even though I manage the test kitchen they won't give me a Manager title. What the heck is a product performance technologist anyway??????? Its not that I am hung up on the job title....I'm viewed and introduced to new employees as the cook. Not that that is a so awful but I do more than that. When I needed a lap top to complete product audits, the IT guy said what does a cook need a laptop for. It sooo hurt my feelings (I know get a tougher skin). I never went to culinary school but did cook professionally for nearly 20 years, but I can't call myself a chef per se. A chef certificate from the local community college will not help when my company only wants grads from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) or Johnson & Wales.
All that may change tomorrow though....I am supposed to find out if I got a new position (more money Yeahhh but I'd take it if it was the same pay or even a little bit less because of the new skill set it offers, i.e transferrable to other companies should I ever decide to leave but I doubt I would.....)
Gosh I did go onnnnnnnnnn.....Thanks again for the kind words and letting me vent!!!!
