My first one smeared like crazy. So I let the second one dry for an hour. It still smeared. In fact, I took a wet tissue and totally wiped off the image. Do they need to be sanded a little or sprayed with a fixative after stamping.....help!!

I personally use either Stazon or Basic Black. I'm thinking a little sanding would help break down that outer "glossy layer," though, and the distressed look might actually be a nice addition to some projects!
I find stazon works good, but i really like the sanding idea for the distressed look, may have to make a run to Home Depot now! You can also try drying the ink with a heat gun or a hair dryer.

Ok...this is totally one of my fav's. I always use Stazon ink...I find it dries well and no smears! I haven't yet had a problem with them.
Keep trying and you too will be addicted to them!

Not a SU product, but I L-O-V-E the Brilliance pads. I make a bunch of bookmarks and use just the Black Brilliance pad on them. I heat set it (this goes very quickly with Brilliance) and that's all. I bet you could do the same with the SU Black craft pad, as long as you heat set it. The images I stamp with Brilliance tend to be 'cleaner' images, though. I really wish SU would offer Brilliance pads so I could demo them.

Okay, at a first glance, I looked at this topic line and swore it said stamping on POTATO chips!!! And I thought well if anyone would have figured out how to stamp on potato chips it would be someone here!
I've had good luck with the Brilliance Pads, too, but my favorite on the paint chips is CHALK INKS! They don't smear, but they do stay wet a while. I just zap them with my heat gun and that solves the problem.

I just thought I would post this just in case someone did not already know but if you get the paint chips with the colors printed on it you can remove them with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
I had the same problem with vellum. Should I be using the Stazon for it also?
Classic ink take a minute or two to dry on vellum. Sometimes I will turn mine over and blot it on scrap paper (gently). Craft ink will NEVER dry on vellum, you have to emboss it. Because the vellum isn't as porous as regular CS the Craft ink will sit on top forever.
I've used StazOn too. I'm gonna have to try the chalk inks on paint chips, once I get my inks--they're on order. Just had to buy all the colors at once you know
oh my gosh itsjfitz your misconception cracks me up!!! :lol: I had to double look at the title line too! Because that was what I also first read...potatoe chip stamping and thought what?! and after I re-read it I started laughing at myself. Glad to know I was not the only one!!!

I got some paint chips a couple days ago and if you lightly dampen a Mr. Clean eraser the words come off with a little scrubbing. There are some samples in the "Gallery" under the swaps- then paint chips.

I have been wanting to try this - but when I looked a couple of places I did not find what I consider to be paint chips - they are more like samples on paper (lighter than cardstock). Is that what every one is using? THANKS....
First erase the lettering and paint names if you don't want them. Then lightly buff (as if sanding) the whole chip with a brown paper bag. It is not rough enough to remove the finish but takes a teeny bit of the sheen off. Then stamp with Brilliance Black ink and it comes out perfect!
