Default How does StazOn Clean off of our beloved stamps?

I really want to try some of the tiles to make coasters and the likes. However with the permancy of StazOn I am afraid to put my nice Stampin' Up! stamps on it. Will it stain them very badly? How do you clean the stamp off, what works best?

I have Staz On cleaner. SU doesn't sell this but I found mine at a local craft store. I know about everybody here uses something different from past threads.

well, one, staining is a natural occurence and will NOT affect the stamp image at all. I know they're so pretty when they're new, but they are, after all, art tools, lol!

However, if you really really hate the staining....

There is a Staz-On cleaner, I found some at Michaels...

Some people purchase an extra Yo Yo Yellow pad and use that to clean stained stamps...odd but some folks SWEAR by it!

Versamark pads work to clean stamps, too...

There are other permanent ink cleaners out there (stinky, tho!!). I still would follow up with a cleaner/conditioner like Stampin Mist though

HTH,
Betsy

How long do I have to let the StazOn dry before coloring the image in with Sharpies? I thought it was dry and started coloring with Yellow and the black ran a little. Or do the Sharpie markers make the ink run?

Yesterday I used black stazon, then immediately I soaked a kleenex with water, dabbed the stamp, and the ink, much to my amazement came right off.

Default Stazon

Hi, yes there is a Stazon Cleaner (I sell it, but Im in OZ !!)

You should only need to heat set for a couple of seconds, you might scorch you paper otherwise. It is similar to Fluid Chalk Inks

Cheers

Has anyone tried using Dawn Power Dissolver?? It comes in a spray bottle and a friend of mine swears by it just to get the Basic Black ink off her stamps. She uses a little bit of it and rinses it well and does nothing to harm the stamp or the block or anything.

I spray a little dab of Clorox Cleanup on an old wash cloth (that I keep just for this) and clean my stamps w/it - it has removed stazon ink from the rubber as well as the regular ink that sometimes gets left on them. After I clean them w/the clorox cleanup I then clean w/water to get the cleaner off. HTH

Default staz-on cleaner

You might try using the Magic Eraser---it seems to take everything off! I even use it to take ink off my hands --but you have to be gentle when you do it or your skin will look and feel as if it was burned...good luck!

This might sound dumb, but any chance that regular ol' soap and water work? Does Stampin' Mist take off the Staz- On? I'm just looking for other options since SU doesn't sell Staz-On cleaner.

I don't know that I would do that - the *magic* in the Magic Eraser is a highly abrasive plastic - it's really fine grained, but it might do a number on the rubber! Just my $.02!

I've read on a stamping site that regular old vegetable oil takes ink off stamps too. A friend of mine tried it out and said it worked very well. Who would have thought?

Ok I know you all are going to gasp when I say this, but the absolute best way to get staz on off your stamps is to use rubbing alcohol. I discovered this little trick a while back when I was playing with the polished stone technique. I know that most of you will argue that the alcohol will dry out your stamps, but if you treat them right away with Versa mark, they will stay nice for a long time. It really turns stained stamps back into like new condition. Just use some caution - ie: very little alcohol on a cotton ball. Hope this works for you!
