Against my better judgement, I posted my suspicions regarding the identity of a “troll? within a public forum. However, I did not reveal the identity of this individual nor the forum. I do frequent a number of forums.
Several individuals assumed I was discussing a particular individual and reported my post to the individual they assumed I was commenting on. And, I can see, after examination, why they would make this assumption.
The end result, however, is that this individual, Donna Coffeen, has been insulted and hurt deeply. And, because she was dragged into this, due to my post, I am deeply sorry, and I am retracting my post within that thread.
Sincerely,

a troll is someone who posts to "stir the pot." basically, they are looking to get people riled up/fighting for their own amusement and attention.
an easy example that shouldn't offend anyone...if i hated stamping and thought it was a big waste of time, i might start a post asking what the attraction to the hobby is. people would flock to the thread talking about why they love it so much. then i might go back and post something about how i've known/received/seen handstamped items that were such inferior quality to what i'd get at hallmark and how could anyone actually want to send such items to people they love. people would then get upset and defend stamping--maybe even attack me a bit. so then i might reply with what a waste of money it is...whatever. but the only reason i'm posting is to make people angry and upset because i want the attention and/or find it funny.
Julie you are brave, and I applaud you! Not many of us have the guts to do what you just did!!
I have spoken out too at one time or another and had second thoughts, but what do you do after it is out there- right? But... Ladies lets be realistic-- there are "trolls" among us! And its not right!
So Julie, even if you were a past Queen you are royalty again today!!
awww, julie, that's awesome! You rock for saying sorry! I have no idea who this person is, but I hope she feels better from the apology! Hurt feelings stink, but apologies are wonderful!
Kimberly
P.S. I'm the troll. No, not really, but wouldn't that be funny if I was? I'd be a stoopit troll.

Julie,
thanks for being a great example of a "big girl" for the rest of us. You already were super cool, but now you are the bomb. I hope that the person you originally addressed the aplogy accepts it.
Julie is a wonderful person and I am certain that her intentions were not to hurt anyone on purpose. That's not the kind of person she is. She is very factual and presents things like she sees them in a very professional way. To make you feel better Julie, I had to apologize for hijacking MamaKimberly's cute shoe thread with my "husband compares shoe size with his penis" story. What a dork I was!! Note to self....pause momentarily before hitting that enter button!!

I couldn't have said it better! Julie, your heart is as big as your stampin' talent. You are a huge asset to the SCS community.
There is an easy way to stop a troll.....recognize it for what it is, simply do not respond to the thread, and hope that no one else does. Post another, more positive thread and hope that yours will bump the troller's right off the front page.
Julie.... I've been staying off the forum lately, so I have no idea what you are referring to. I just want to say you are a bomb! This is one of the reasons I admire you so much! You are truly a lady!! You always have good things to say and you have brightened my day SO many times! We are all human, but not everyone has the gutts to apologize when they feel they have been wrong. Heck some people can't even admit it to themselves!! You got big ones baby!! I'm sure you've made this situation right.... or done your best. You are my hero girlie!! Keep that smile on!!
All I have to say is you must be an AWESOME lady... I would truly love to meet more people like you! Most people find it hard to admit to themself that they are woring.... BUT to make a public apology is truly a sign of a wonderful person.
I would also like to apologize to anyone who might be a lawyer out there...in a thread a made a generalization and it has been bothering me...not to be taken lightly.
Jules you are a great role model for everyone on SCS, even for the trolls...they may need to take more rhetoric lessons.

I agree, I doubt you meant to hurt anyone... no worries here!
Also the hijack from Michelle, gave me a MUCH Needed laugh on a depressing Saturday morning... yeah that bad to be depressed on a Sunny California Saturday! ...., and reminded me that we all need to keep our sense of humor alive, and not get so darn serious.... OY!
I am new here and I don't know what is going on, but I really commend you for apologizing that way. It does take a special person to do something like that. You must be a very good person.....Thanks for showing us all how to be a better person! Michelle
Julie, you are LunarPaisleyFabulous darling! I'm sorry to learn of this "behind the scenes" hurt feelings and you are ever the gracious lady to make a public apology. I don't know who Donna is, but I hope she can find it in her heart to forgive.
