Default Buying from Stampin' Up is not mandatory...it's a choice!!!

Ok...deep breath

It seems for the past several weeks there has been thread after thread about how some feel SU! has lesser quality products, or how their shipping isn't what some consider 'fair', or some complaint about how their demo doesn't do what XYZ's demo does. If you are not happy with SU!...then make the choice not to buy their product...it is that simple.

This board was created to share ideas and chit chat with others who enjoy SU!, I guess I am just tried of seeing a new thread everyday complaining about SU! It is a company, granted they are not 'perfect'...but really who is!?!? I know, I know everyone has the right to state their opinion...but I just dread seeing all the negativity day after day.

It has always been my experience that if I have a problem with a SU! product...it was ALWAYS taken care of....so no complaints from me.

Sorry I finally had to speak up....

Finally a post I agree with! I LOVE to visit SCS but I HATE seeing all the bashing posts (even non SU related) I come here to be with people that share the love of stamping and want to share ideas but digging through all the other crap is just sad. I actually dread opening the general forums or everyday chit chat cause thats all it is anymore.

Can't we all just get along and have a happy stamping world?!!?

I have to some-what disagree.....I know there are tons of SU demos and fans on here (myself included), but I didn't know that this site was based purely on SU. I thought it was a place for fellow stampers, scrapers, and crafters to share/discuss their thoughts and ideas. If I find a good deal on a product and it just so happens it's not SU....heck yeah I'm gonna buy it!!!

I think out of respect for those that maintain and created this site someone should give the history of SCS and how/why it was started.....anyone...

From the "About" link in the upper right of your screen:

Daven & Tracy Nolta
Ever curious about the history of Splitcoaststampers? It went something like this:
Tracy: "I think I want to get one of those SU! demo web sites."
Daven: "I could build you something better you know."
Tracy: "I think I want to get one of those SU! demo web sites."
Daven: "No really, I could."
----- 500 hours go by -----
Daven: "See, nothing to it!"
Tracy: "I forget, what were you doing for me?"

We live in Vancouver, WA with our three girls. We started Splitcoaststampers in January, 2003 as an extension of Tracy's stamping business, originally with the intention of supporting her downline and whoever else wanted to stop by. There was no grand vision, and still isn't, other than providing a place where people will feel comfortable. We're honored that you all are here!

Shanon - You are right....I am not saying that there is anything wrong with buying or sharing non-SU! ideas....I just wish the negativity about SU! would go away. I buy what I like, and will always do so.

When I first found SCS in the spring of 2004...it was light hearted and fun!! Yes sometimes people would get frustrated with SU! and need to vent...but it wasn't complaints day after day.

And yes it is a SU! website that welcomes stamps from all creators!

I can't remember the last time I seen a pampered chef website discussing how awful their product is and how wonderful tupperware is....

Just food for thought!

I posted this on the other thread but here it is again:

I love SU because:
1. They have way more variety than anyone else.
2. The stamps coordinate.
3. They provide fab. ideas in their catalog.
4. I always get a ton of stuff free as a hostess
5. They offer free sets every year
6. They offer 50% off sets usually once a year.
7. They allow demos to be their own persons and have low quotos
8. Their products are superior in quality.
9. Their shipping is fast and efficent and I keep in mind they use UPS which has outragous prices.
10. I CHOSE TO!

Thank You to everyone for their creative ideas thier passion and talents that I take inspiration from everyday. I chose to be on this site and I chose to enjoy it.

It is, and I agree with you on finding a great deal, heck there is so much out there, SU! doesn't own the whole shegang, but this is also primarily for SU, and was originally founded on that basis by a demo and her dh. It should be a supportive place to visit and share, not a bashing place for those who are dissatisfied, you know.

Thanks to mom of one who resurfaced this thread!! Reminds us of why we come here!

Just my 2....

Splitcoast is my favorite website! I check it daily and really appreciate the people that submit such wonderful products and ideas. I normally choose to avoid the negative forums mainly because there are too many "negatives" in life. Keep the positive coming!

THANK YOU!!! I couldn't agree more. I have to say I never go to Everyday Chit Chat anymore either, precisely for this reason. Just too many highly sensitive issues there, and I was taken wrong one too many times/flamed, etc. Not complaining about it being available, just saying it's personally not for me, and not why I come here. I know lots of stamping friends who have NEVER checked out any of the forums...only the galleries! Indeed the galleries are the *cornerstone* of this site, IMHO.

It seems like there are those who can only exist to look at what is bad...sure do feel sorry for them. Good thing the world isn't perfect or there would be no 'joy' for them!

Being the half full kind of gal...I absolutely LOVE all the great things SU provides for us!

Thank you so much for this thread! I agree that the general forum gets a little sickening, with all the negativity. I have NEVER heard of SU not taking care of a problem, etc, before.

I LOVE them and believe me, if I didn't, I wouldn't be here.

JMHO and 2 cents worth, but my after seeing all of these negative comments about SU, my feelings are the same as I feel about people who constanly complaine about America...I fyou don't like it then GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

If you don't like, uhm I mean love Stampin' Up then just quit your griping and negativity and stay away from this site and leave the rest of us peacefull SU loving stamp crazed adicts alone! This site was started for a SU demonstrator to share with her SU dowline and SU customers and just grew from there.

Now if there wasn't an awesome company like SU with top notched products, this website and community would never exist! Even if you don't like the products, you sure do like the ideas that stem from them.

Sorry, II just finally had to comment on this. I usually never come to this forum for just this reason.

Now I'm off to go stamp with my SU products, that I love!

I am a SU! addict at heart...always will be!

Maybe I will post a new thread everyday about how much I love SU! and their products...just to keep those negative threads at the bottom....where they belong!!!

Like my mom always told me (and still does) if you don't have anything nice to say, maybe it is better you don't say anything at all :!:

I am so excited to have a site where I can learn so much about SU...thank you so much to the crew that put it together...it has really helped me put some focus to my new business!!!

I have just recently "got" what stamping is all about as I attended a workshop last month...I loved it so much that I became a demo!! I was just so inspired by the stamp designs and the care and the thought put into the products...and the company. I am quite excited about the whole adventure...and spurred on by all the enthusiasm here at SCS!

Thank you!!

Thanks for such a positive, upbeat post. I rarely get out of the demo area because of this problem lately. I am here to interact with people who love stamping- and MAINLY SU! That is why I am here. There seems to be lots of other sites that one can go to if it is simply negative thoughts or just general stamping.

I am a new demo and need that great positive reinforcement.

Thanks!! Thanks for all your help members!!

Thanks for this thread! I am *insane* enough to have read through all ten pages of the "I love SU BUT. . ." thread of the day. And do I like "FREE" stuff??? Yep. But somehow I can still hear my Daddy saying when I was five, "Sweetie, there are no "free" lunches!"

I have checked out all of the competitors stuff. both home based companies and retail companies. And I STILL think SU has some of the best products out there. I don't choose them because I don't know any better I choose them BECAUSE I know what the competition has to offer. I love my choice to do business with SU!

I know this thread is from yesterday, but I just found it and must say I could NOT agree more!!! I am so sick of all this negative SU chit-chat going on!!! I have had no issues whatsoever with SU EVER!!! I love SU!! I love working for a company that I feel truly appreciates me, inspires me, AND has many quality products and stamps that I LOVE and stand behind 100%!!!!!! This company has given me so much!! I have absolutely no complaints!!!

I just had to add my 2 cents before this thread dies!!

Oh no! Too much drama. I do not visit another of my favorite sites very often anymore because it got so catty over there. If you are a liberal American - and visit 2 peas - you know what I am talking about! Any ways, this site is so refreshing because it is so positive and inspiring. I also hate to see the negativity creeping in....... :(

I was going to post on the "What I am Thankful for" thread, but I'll just post some positive thoughts here!!

Why I love SU: The company allows me the opportunity to have a flexible business, I can share my stamping addiction with my friends, I can support my ever-growing stamping obsession, I have empowered myself that I can teach others and am creative (although I would certainly be less creative if it wasn't for this site!), and I'm part of a wonderful sisterhood of women (and some chaps) who give of their heart, their art and their beautiful souls! I am also proud that SU contributes donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, aid for the tsunami victims, and all the countless SU demo volunteers who help with the Ronald McDonald House.

Why I love SCS: Hands down, this is the BEST site out there. The people here are inspiring, not only in their creativity, but how they handle their lives, their ups and downs, and their businesses. Every single day I log into this site and I am absolutely amazed at the time and effort it takes to run this site (thanks Daven and all our wonderful moderators) and how many people have so generously donated their opinions, art and ideas. I could go on and on and on...Not only that, but I've gained so much in the trades I have made - everyone has been fair and honest. And the SCS secret sister card swap - dang, man, if that isn't uplifting, I don't know what is! :P

I strive to be positive every day. I try to give others support when they need it. For those that choose to live their lives in other ways, that's fine - just stop trying to bring everyone else down!

Have a wonderful day everyone! Hey, what happened to Emiko? She always had such positive sign-offs...

I think the originator of this message used Stampin' Up as an example of negative talk but really means to minimize all negative talk. If you need to get advice or feedback that is one thing, but to bash one another or someones business, etc. is another thing.

I appreciate that SU! makes such an effort to listen to its customer base. It's a good company, well managed, and sells excellent products.

And I am very, very grateful for the SU! demos that developed and manage this site. And I think we should be as respectful of that as if we were physically at guest in their home. In a way, we are.

I am suggesting that if you have valid constructive criticism, *and* an informed, well-thought out, economically justified solution, then contact the company directly. This would apply to any company.

I'll just add my $.02 for what it's worth. I LOVE SU. This site has helped me so much to get some creative juices flowing. I used to just look in the IBC and CASE a card out of there, but since becoming a member of SCS and looking at the Challenges, they have helped so much to come up with my own idea. Sure, sometimes I buy things that are not SU, but usually it's because SU DOESN'T CARRY IT YET!. Thanks to all of you who are positive and share your wisdom and creativity with the rest of us.
