This week for the WAy's to Use it challenge we are going to go a little easier on you. Thanks soooo much for all the participation during the past week on the Lumiere challenge...the ideas were fabulous! I can't wait to try them out. As for the winner of the draw...stay tuned. I'll announce it within the hour on this thread as well as last week's.
Back to the challenge at hand...this week your mission should you choose to accept it, is to find ways to use Crystal Effects in your project. Feel free to do a card or any kind of paper project...we love variety. Any tips you might have to share...please post them here. WE all love to learn something new. We originally did this challnge on July 7th, 2005 so I think it is time to take another whirl at it. If you wish to check out the original thread for ideas, here is the link WT16 Crystal Effects
Oooooooooo....fun!! And I can really get into this one. I have an idea swirling around in my head already. But I have to get DS on the bus for preschool first - and do some cleaning. Then I can stamp!!
What are Crystal Effects? Will translucent ultrafine glitter work? I am so out of the loop on challenges! Going home for T'giving messed up my mojo.
Hi Dana,
Crystal Effects is a clear dimensional glaze product that Stampin Up sells. It is awesome for a lot of things and dries to a nice clear glossy finish. You can also buy it under some other names...I believe Diamond Glaze may be one of them...perhaps someone else can help me out with some other ones. YOu may use them as an alternative.
My top for using Crystal Effects is as a glue. If you foam and rubber becomes unmonted...it is perfect for gluing those stamps back together. I have a little rubber-rat who loves to chew on my stamps! LOL My crystal effects has saved the day quite a few times.
I got CE last year and have never used them. If I get a chance between making & addressing Christmas cards, I will have to try it.

I do not have CE is there anything I can substatute??
If you happen to have Diamond Glaze it is the same product but by Judikins. Also works as a glue and great for attaching gems, charms or buttons like I did on my piggie card yesterday...I wonder - does CE act as a glue also? My DG is getting low.

Great idea Julia!
CE does work as a glue as well, I love it for attaching microbeads to a card, or dazzling diamonds. Thanks for the great challenge, Julia!

Hope this helps,
I have a clear dimensional glaze that I use on ceramic ornaments that came from the paint department. Would this be somewhat similar? Does the CE come in liquid form, like a paint department-type glaze?
Because there were so many entries to last weeks challenge...I decided to randomly draw two of the names for a small surprise package from me. Ironically, I picked the same name twice so to be fair, I picked a third time. Congratulations imastampin and Dawn L! If you would please PM me with your addresses...I hope to get to the post office this weekend. Thanks everyone for playing along and for all the enthusiasm and inspiration. I know if was a tough challenge and a very busy holiday weekend. I'll have to try it again on another tough challenge in the future!
OOOO!!! I LOOOOVE CE!!! Now...I just have to figure out how to fit in today's challenge with all the errands I have to do!! hmmmm....I guess that I DO need to finish up some samples for the open house this weekend, maybe CE should be included!!

I have an acrylic glaze that dries clear, but isn't dimensional. Guess I could use that, or stickles. ---- or I could really cheat and use page pebbles!

I had done this one before. It has cystal effects on the rims and bottom of the jars applied thickly and let dry. I then painted with a paint brush crystal effeclts on the rest of the jar.
I found something similar at our local craft store.. it's called "Aleene's Paper Glaze for dimensional designs & laminating." It was pretty cheap too! Used it once.. maybe I'll try it again.
look forward to your creations....I have no Crystal Effects......so will sit this one out..........(picture me with tears in my eyes.......second week in a row without the 'stuff'.....guess I gotta do some shopping.........now I have a smile on my face again......)
I had put a remark in my description regarding the fact that I still had a birthday and two anniversary cards in December. I was only joking about it - would not trade those people for anything. However, from a comment, I think I have offended someone - if I have also offended you, please forgive me - I was just kidding.

Well, I actually have some CE. I think I've used it once! I'll pull it out and see what I can come up with -- when I get home from work. Thanks, Julia, for making me use something new!
