Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! I hope that you are having a wonderful holiday! I've missed you these past couple weeks. I am looking forward to some better weeks ahead...I can dream right?!
This week's challenge is a bit of a tough one and was requested by mastamper. This week the challenge is to find Way's To Use....lumiere in your creative project. Lumiere is a pearlized white paint that you can buy from Stampin up or at your local Michael's store. You may want to keep that in mind when you go to use your coupon tomorrow. I realize that not everyone has this product so if you dream up a faux lumiere substitute you are more than welcome to play along. Also, if you need to buy it and wish to do so, you are more than welcome to play along all week. As an added incentive, for each project made with lumiere (card, journal, anything!) this week your name will go into a hat. My daughter will randomly pick a ballot next WEdnesday night for a little surprise package from me. The winner will be announced next Thursday morning.
I know this is going to be a real challenge for myself as well. I still have an unopened bottle that I purchased well over a year ago! I am REALLY looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!
Please remember to put WT88 in your keywords section and post a link back to this thread. If you need help with this, please private message me...I'd be glad to help. Also because of the prize this week...please do not add the keywords to past cards. You may add up to two links from past cards to this thread though to help inspire us.
Thanks so much for playing along. So sorry aobut the delay this morning! Make sure you eat lots of pie and turkey for me;)
awwww bummer!! I'm two hours away from home and don't have my lumiere. I'll look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with though.
Happy Thanksgiving Julia!!!!
Oh, great challenge, Julia. Besides white, I have several other colors of lumiere. I just may try some of them. I might have a little bit of time to play this morning, but if not, I'll sure work on this tonite or tomorrow. Thanks, Julia.
I can't wait to see all the samples. I have never participated in four challenges in a row. I guess I will need to play with my Lumiere. Turkey is already in the oven! But my stamping space is completely filled with a project I am working on. Hmm..............
oh bummer, my streak will have to end here this week...I have no Lumiere and no place in Germany to buy it either :( but, I'll be looking forward to seeing the ideas you all come up with!

Still sitting here in my bathrobe and haven't stamped a thing. But I found another cool sample. Look how pretty it looks when you mix Pearl Ex with Lumiere and color your stamped image. It's especially dramatic on dark colored cardstock:
I am SOOOO excited to see this challenge. I bought some of this by mistake and have NO idea what to do with it. We are off 'over the mountains and through the woods to grandmother's house we go' in a couple of hours and won't be back until Saturday... that said it is supposed to snow 18 inches in the mountains in the next 24 hours so they may close the pass later today and tomorrow and.... who knows. We tried to brave it one year and actually got caught in an avalanche. That was no fun. So poor grandmother may get longer company than she bargained for!! Anyway I can't wait to see what everyone does with this stuff. Thanks for the challenge, Julia.

Don't know if I'll get to play or not. I have luminere, but haven't done anything with it except to highlight. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.

I wonder if you could mix pearl ex and acrylic paint and get something similar. I don't DO pearl ex, so have none to try this with, but if someone else feels daring, I would love to see the results.
And, Beate, love all your helpful hints and ideas.
I haven't stamped yet either. Went for a walk on the treadmill and now I need to shower, cook and go, so I guess my efforts on this will be later. Hope y'all have a great thanksgiving (day for you Canadians)! Later...
I got my card started and got ready to mix PE with Lumiere....and I can't find it! Arrrgghhh!!!! I must have tossed it before the move. They gave me crap about moving liquids. I ven had to move all my ink pads myself. I can't believe I will have to sit this out too.
I do not know if I will have time today to make a card for the challenge, but I have done one card w/luminere a couple of months ago. I used pastels and then painted the luminere over it and it gave the butterfly a pearlized effect. I do not know if you can tell or not, but here it is:
silly, me, I forgot to paste it here, so here goes:

Use your Mike's coupon tommorrow Beate. Don't sit it out. Awesome challenge Julia. I bought some a few months ago and haven't even broken the seal.
I don't have to time play today and I don't have any Lumiere either. :-( Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!!!! WE have so much to the thankful for today!!!
I have Lumiere! I don't know why I have it, I don't know when I bought it, I don't know what to do with it, and I'm not even sure I know where it is! But there is nothing like a challenge to get me going! Hopefully this evening I will have time to play. Thanks, Julia, for expanding my horizons!
And I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving Day. I'm rather new to this world of challenges, and am thoroughly enjoying all the challenges I've done, and most especially all the fabulous work that everyone else has done. Each new gallery is better eye candy than even the best chocolate!
Love 'n hugggs to All!
Faux Luminere (trees) who knows, I may have failed miserabley here cuz I have no luminere and I really have only used it once so I do not know much about it but I tried to make my own....take a peek, the directions for luminere are there, lol...gobble, gobble.

I've done Faux Mother of Pearl using Lumiere before, so I started with that technique. Here's my card -- Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I'm going to try Beate's tutorial on Luminous Pearls and see how it goes. Hopefully, I'll have another card to post today.
Here is my first attempt at a faux lumiere, it turned out a little duller than I expected, but I still like the background it created. I used the color combo creator to find some other colors to finish up with. Faux Lumiere-Christmas Tree
If the turkey allows I'm working on another piece of the panel. May have another card to share.
thanks, Julia. I am hoping I will not be too lethargic from eating too much today and I will stamp tonight. I like seeing all your creations and look forward to creating something myself!
Well....I think I have some Lumiere from a class long, long ago when we painted small dominos with it......I may find out when I go downstairs that it actually is something else...........I will try to play later....thanks for a challenging challenge, Julia
here's my second attempt a fake lumiere--I took my first panel and added another layer of craft white dabbed on with Saran Wrap and more pearl ex while wet, then sprayed with hair spray. Now it really shimmers. It takes quite a bit of messing with to get it to look so cool, using lumiere is probably more effective in time management, but never the less this was a great effect.
