Default Stampin' Spots VS Stampin' Write Markers

I just hosted a show and I am trying to decide if I should get the Stampin' Spots or the Stampin' Write Markers..

If anyone could help me in this decision.. Do the markers dry out fast??? Do you recommend the Spots instead... As of right now I have the Bold Brights Stampin' Spots, and 3 stamp pads; Basic Black, close to cocoa, lovely lilac... I want to get the rest of the colors but can't afford the big pads right now..

PLEASE HELP!!!

You need both!!!

Spots are great for using with small stamps & when you are traveling! and it is a cheaper way to get all the colors fast...This is how I started out...

Markers are great for when you want to color directly onto a stamp and for different techniques...

If you have the cash to order the markers, go for it...or you could alternate one family set of each until you have all color families of both the spots & the markers...LOL!!!
Sorry to give you this dilema but you need both!

Default I love 'em both

But, if it is a cash shortfall, I would suggest the stampin' spots. Because, you can ink any stamp with it & easy for travel. If you want to use them to color, just stamp the pad on a cd and use a blender pen or watercolor brush to use the ink.

The markers are wonderful, but it's hard to ink up a big stamp with them.
Just a thought.

I'm no expert, but when I started, I knew I wanted all the colors, but couldn't afford everything all at once either. I got the markers first, and while it took a while to ink up a large stamp, it also gave me the flexibility to use a variety of color on one stamp. Later, I bought the spots, and now that I know which colors I tend toward, I'm on my way toward building my regular sized stamp pad collection. I'm glad I did it in that order. HTH

After 3 years as a demo - I only have maybe 20 markers....and I am just now starting to purchase more of them to fill out my collection.

I guess you have to decide what you are going to do long term.....if you think you will want the full size pads, why not joing a stamp club and start purchasing them a few at a time - in the colors you like most. If the spots will be enough of a pad for you - then purchase the spots, I usually reommend that a brand new customer buy the black pad and a set of spots - just so they can get a wide variery of colors right from the start without spending a ton!

The markers are great - but I think at first you will be better off with the pads to get yourself going.....

I agree on getting the spots first. And you can stamp the spots on a CD case (not the CD itself, I don't think) and then pick up the ink with a blender pen.

That said, I'm about to buy the set of markers, but I have 2 sets of spots and 1 set of full pads. Don't have any Earth Elements (yet) but I love having the other 3 families. Maybe you could get a color family of spots and then get another color family of markers when you have some cash. Then, as said before, when you discover you love a color, get a regular-sized pad!

When I first got started stamping, I wanted all the colors right away (of course!) but there was no way I could afford it, so I bought a couple of the spot sets...now, a year later, I have all the full-sized pads and NEVER use the spots... ($43 sitting in my closet that I could have spent on stamp sets!)

I guess my advice would be to try to decide your long term goals - if you intend to someday have "everything" - go with the markers now, because after you have all the full-sized pads, you'll still use the markers for all kinds of things, but the Stampin' Spots will be obsolete.

As long as you store your markers on their SIDES they will last a long time.

Hope that helps you - Good luck deciding!

Default Stampin Spots & Scrapbooking..

I can't take credit for this one, but I now have a one color groups of stamping spots packed with my scrapbooking items. They are the PERFECT size for the ALPHABET sets that I have...I think for most of them...then I don't drag all the pads to scrapbook. It fits nicely in my carrying bag, and I have a variety of colors instead of just black or chocolate chip which is what I was doing before. For me it was so worth it...I think I may get all the color groups, but that is probably a little WHACKO!

Oh, oh, oh! Pull those stamping spots out of the closet. They make great square (shabby chic) stamps for alphabet/small stamp backgrounds and are wonderful for creating backgrounds when you don't have your background stamp(s) with you. I love my spots!

Default stampin spots vs markers

I have the big pads but I'm still going to get all the spots. They are so portable. Have one family of markers too but I think if I could only afford one or the other I would get the spots first. You can use the aqua oen withthe spots too.

stampin' spots - you have all the colors and can re-ink. Add the markers a couple here and there for a project.
