Default Cheap, easy way to clean goo from scissors!!

I've been very frustrated lately because I can't buy Goo Gone where I am overseas and my rubber scissors were getting super gooped up. Then I read the other day on some thread about someone using a special kind of baby wipes to clean her scissors. I can't get that kind of wipes either, so out of frustration, I grabbed the wipes I keep handy for when friends come to stamp.

And...it worked!! Much better than Goo Gone, and you can get wipes anywhere. Woo-hoo! Has anyone else tried regular wipes? I guess if they can clean p**p from a babys heiney, they can clean goo from scissors.

Rubbing alcohol works great. I read somewhere you can buy them like the wet napkins the hand out in restruarants. They would be great to keep in scrapin'/stampin' supplies.

Rubbing alcohol, I put some in a small glass and soak for an hour or so.Then wipe with a cotton ball or cotton pad. I keep a bottle in my office with my stamping supplies.

Alcohol didn't work so well for me. I use that orange stuff, can't remember what its called, but smells like oranges. That takes goo off really well. It's a household cleaner.

I use Elmer's 'Sticky Out' it works great and is non toxic. I think it has orange oil as it smells pleasently of oranges.

Goo Gone is my weapon of choice! (Love the smell.) Of course, we always have baby wipes on hand, so I may just have to try that some time.

Thanks for the heads up, or bottoms up!!!

I think you're talking about De-Solv-it. I love it -- it's magic goo cleaner in a bottle! It also says on the bottle that it's organic, bigdegradable, and has no harsh chemicals. I don't think that makes is non-toxic, but it sure makes me feel better when I use it!

I actually use olive oil. I read on a home wax kit that that's a great way to remove sticky stuff, so I tried in on my sissors and it works great!

rubbing alcohol is what I use. Unless I am out then I use nail polish remover. Alcohol also works to get marker off of your hands (children ) and some surfaces and the sticky left behind from a bandaid.

Pampers lavendar baby wipes. They are the best - takes it off with one swipe! I think it's the lotion or aloe in it.

I am overseas also and I had a friend recommend, "Un-du Adhesive Remover The Scrapper's Solution" so I went out and bought this, they sold it at our craft store and our BX, so they should have it where you live. I just covered my scissor blades with it and then wiped them off real good with a papertowel and if there were anymore sticky stuff I just repeated and it works pretty good. On the bottle it says "safely remove and reuse stickers, tape, photo squares and more!" It has a little scraper attached too. I have also used it to get anything goopy off of items around the house, etc. So I highly recommend this.

I used to use & recommend nailpolish remover, but a lot of my customers wear nail polish! So I've started using Citristrip Wipe Away--got it at Walmart--works wonderfully.

I just use the mineral spirits that I used for my magic pencil. The mineral spirits clean it great.

I use Mr. Clean Sponges - wipe it off and rinse with water and dry with towel....

Works good for me and I always have them on hand!
