Default TLC89 - Mirror, Mirror

Today's technique is the Reflection technique. It is also called mirror image or reverse image. Here are a few examples:

From bensarmom:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
From 88 Keys:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
From M Cooper:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
from patsmethers:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Beate suggested this technique, and here is how she does it:
"I usually stamp my image on cardstock. Reink and stamp it again on a piece of acetate. Turn it around, place it where you want it to be and then rub over it to transfer the ink."

You can also use wax paper instead of acetate. Thanks Terry/terrore3 for that tip!

You can also use your rubber brayer....ink the stamp and run the brayer over it to transfer the image to the brayer; roll the brayer over the paper to get the reverse image. Use a stamp positioner and stamp the image in the proper position.

You can also use vellum....simply stamp on the vellum; after it dries, flip it over and stamp again.

look forward to seeing all your creations!
As always, I am in search of suggestions for techniques for future TLCs! Please PM with suggestions and a link to the directions and/or a sample if you can. Thanks!
As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!
When you upload, please put TLC89 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread. If you need help uploading, click on this link for helpful information:

If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

Interesting...I think I'll try to pick my brain and see what I come up with. If my imagination serves me correctly, I have seen in my LSS a large blank rubber stamp that was created to make mirror images. At least I think that's what it was for...

Yup, I have a big blank rubber stamp just for that. It is actually called a Reversing Stamp (has the directions right on it on how to use it and reverse your images). Might just have to pull it out and use it today! ;)

Cooooooooooolll! I always wondered how to get such a great reversed image. Never thought to use acetate. I will definitely have to try this. And maybe I can get my little sis to join in today! Thanks, Beth.

This technique, for whatever reason, scares me to pieces  !! Everyone else's always turn out so beautifully but I'm sure mine will look...not so good. But this week, finally, I'm gonna try it!

Thanks for the inspiration!

QUESTION: If you stamp on vellum card stock and flip it, how do you hide the edge of the vellum. For example, the tree one one by MCooper, I can't see a line where the vellum stops and the card stock starts. Is the vellum over the entire card?? Wont the vullem cover the original trees then?? Huh?

P.S. Silvia, if you're still here, HELLO!! long time no stalk!!

can someone with experience with vellum and this technique answer this one? I think what happens is there is vellum on the whole card.... you stamp the trees on one side of the vellum, and then flip it over and stamp the other side.

OK - here's my card. I pulled out my reverse image stamp from Rubber Stampede that I bought over 10 year ago....this may be the first time I've actually used it! I don't like how it muddied the image, but I supposed that is to be expected.

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

I want to play with this more....thanks for the fun challenge Beth!!
