On Saturday March 5th I posted a purse and gift cert. combo that I made and then took pictures of. Today someone pm'd me that someone had stollen my pic and was using it on E-bay. I couldn't beleave it, who would do such a thing. I think it's an honor to be case'd, but to steel your pic and present it as your own.
Well, I sent a message to E-bay, the buyer and in a few minutes I'm sending a message to the seller. I just can't beleive this happened, people never cease to amaze me.
Phew.....glad that wasn't you selling on ebay. I knew the pic was identical because of the surface the purse was sitting on. Good for you for taking action!
I guess we do run into ALL kinds on the internet LOL wow! Very sad for you that you had your pic stolen. It really ruins things for us when people so things like this.
Im sooo glad that its not you on ebay!!! I was reading that forum and was wondering... Im sure when the person goes to make the purse and the
gift cert holder, it surely wont be as nice as yours, maybe the buyer will give her a negative report, since it wont be the same!!!

That takes some nerve for someone to do that. Glad you found it on Ebay & took action. It is too bad some people take advantage of a really great site like this.
Jeanne
I am sorry that happened to you. You'd think they'd know if it was so easy to steal, it would be so easy to find out - on ebay of all places (as if noone ever goes there). The very nerve of some people...
Sheeesh!
Your purses are so cute. Sorry this happened . I hope you won't mind, but I'm going to CASE your idea and use it as a gift for one of my best customers and good friends. I hope that you get some sort of action comes from your contacting eBay, the seller & the buyer.

Stampin Ink, this is awful! Hope it all works out allright and shame on anyone who uses E-bay in this manner. BTW I can't find where you posted this ~ it sounds adorable. Would you mind giving me the link? Thanks!
I saw that thread and just knew it could NOT be you that listed that g/c on ebay! Unreal...to just up and steal your actual picture..unreal...she could have at least cased your idea and made her own purse/wallet and taken a pic of her own! Some people!
Amy..how did you add that to the pic? I've always wondered how everyone did that..i'd like to know for the future for when I am actually capable of creating some WOW artwork to post to the gallery (waaaay in the future! )

I'm sure there are many ways to do this. I use print shop and open the photo up. From there I pick to add a text box and type away
Well, you can download the copyright info. from SU's web site if you are a demo. Then I just opened my picture in Picture It! (microsoft program) and added it to the picture my name I add by using the add text icon. Hope this helps.
Was this something that got stolen from your personal site or could it have been stolen from here? I say that if it came from somewhere here that they be BANNED!

It amazes me that anyone could even think of doing something like that - for goodness sake if your going to case and steal something at least take your own picture of the item when your done!!!
It would totally be interesting to hear the "rest of the story"!!!

I'm so sorry this happened to you! Picture stealing is a common problem on eBay, and sellers are often complaining about other sellers using their auction photos. Unfortunately, anyone who knows how to use Photoshop can easily erase that copyright notice from your picture and still use the image. If someone's lazy enough to use your image, and determined to steal your picture file, they'll find a way to do it. :(

Next time you take a picture you should lay your business card down in front of the item, they won't be able to steal your picture then!
You can also put a digital or written claim on your pic, too. I am so sorry. I need to get to bed -- I can not think of the name for what I mean.
Most photo editing software has a way to do this. You can even do it in Paint by opening a new file and using the text tool to write something like
"Copyright Stampin'Up, design created by Mary Smith". Save it as an image. When you have you pic, you can open it and paste the text over it.
OR, you can just print or write the same info on a transparency and put it over the item you are photgraphing. You might lose some image quality, but not your picture!
This is awful that someone did this. What were they trying to sell. It's not like they had the purse card to sell. Or were they just using it to demonstrate what you could do with a project??? What did they think they would complish???

I sell on ebay and once had someone steal my image to use for their auction. I was so annoyed and let them know it LOL.
What I then started doing was to put "Auctions by XXX" across the image in a light color so that they could still see the image but wouldn't be able to easily use it. I think I may start doing that with some of my cards because I've seen one person try to pass one of my cards off as theirs :(

On the eBay message boards, they have some great tips about protecting your images and even the text of your auction.
I was one of the people that emailed you about that persons listing your pic on Ebay. I think I begged your for the template because I LOVE IT. So I am begging again. Is there a template?

It is an awesome idea!!! Lots of people somehow put their names across the image or in far enough that they can't cut it out unless they cut off the picture... don't know how but they do it! Sorry someone stole your picture off here though.

I saw this auction on Ebay. Definitely your picture. Did you notice at the bottom the seller put she was a SU consultant? Says to call her if you want anything for the Spring Mini. Are consultants allowed to "advertise" like that on Ebay?

It really is unbelievable how low some people will stoop to make a few bucks I'm so sorry that it happened to you. Hopefully eBay will respond and remove the auction.

I've even heard of a sneaky bit of HTML code you can use that puts a whistle-blowing message in place of the picture if someone steals it. Wish I knew how to do that myself!
