Default I'm confused about Hot Threads

What constitues a "Hot Thread"? I am trying to use the colored indicators but I don't understand what they all mean. Thanks

If you go to the bottom of this forum page and hover your mouse over each colored box, it will tell you what constitutes a "Hot Thread".

You aren't the only one, Cathy. The colors are the same, and I find them useless. I just watch for threads that stay near the top.

at the time we designed it, my thinking was that there were too many of these little indicators to ever make sense out of. new posts, hot threads, hot threads, with new posts, blah blah blah. it's difficult to convey that much meaning in an icon, so we simplified it by reducing/combining the indicators. we'll revisit it at some point and try to be a little more helpful with these. any ideas?

Thanks to all of you who responded. I understand it much more now. I have been a member for several months, am still (slowly!!) learning. Not only am I learning lots of great stamping techniques, but I'm also learning a lot about computers and websites. Someday I might actually even figure out how to upload a card or two.
Thanks again
