hmmm....its showing it closed at 49.XX

I don't know why people pay what they do for things but it could be (if this is a real bid and not someone trying to help out the seller) that they had this stamp in the past and just badly wanted it.

I've never understood why people pay what they do for things...but to each their own....its their money and not mine LOL

Something is definitely fishy with the stamp. It is back on the list of seller's items for just $7 with the loosing bidder being the only one to bid on it.

What I don't understand, is that if postalgirl is actually the seller, doesn't she end up paying high final value fees?

Grrrr...I don't like people not playing by the rules!
Ok yeah that is weird, she has only had an account since the end of Feb and she has only bid on items from this seller, that is odd..I thought maybe it was just a fluke before but this does look suspicious.

Right, and for as many bids as postalgirl has, she's never left or received any feedback.

This is just terrible.

Default checked ebay out

I just checked the sight where the stamp sold for $49 and there is another stamp for sale and it ends 3/13. So far it is $7....wonder what that will go for. I would have to agree my husband would be very upset if I bought a stamp like that for $50.

what's really really interesting is...

the first auction started on 3/4 and ended on 3/11
an eBayer named bjeanne0 was bidding aggressively against postalgirl up until the final bid of $49+ when postalgirl won

the second auction for the the same exact item started on 3/6 and ends on 3/13 and once again bjeanne0 has placed the first bid for $7

this definitely sounds fraudulant

I feel badly for bjeanne0, she may not understand what's going on

It's money laundering....

...in a small way.

Same seller. Same buyer. Elevated merchandise. Nickel and dime stuff. Funny.

Or.....

spew alert!

seller is a hooker by day, and needs to explain the $$ to her DH.

so she creates postalgirl, her alter ego.

she lists items, only to sell them to herself.

Default wonder if i can find a sucker too?

LOL. Too funny, i've got this stamp in my basement. The box is full of stamps that i don't use very often. If DH only knew, he'd probably make me sell the lot of them. Hmmm, more money for SU goodies.? I may have to rethink my "standing firm" position on keeping all my stamps.

Maybe its bjeanne0 that's bidding it up until the other person bids high and gets it. I wouldn't have paid 1/10 of the amount for that stamp. Pretty, but nondescript.

Michelle, I think the hope is that if bjeanne0 really wants the stamp and this "ficticious" bidder keeps bidding higher and higher that bjeanne0 will continue to bid higher and higher effectively increasing the selling price. It's the equivalent of seeing how high the real bidder is willing to go. Obviously for the seller/fake bidder it's risky because there is the chance that the real bidder will stop bidding and the fake bidder will win the auction. It appears that this is exactly what happened because low-and-behold the seller reposted the auction.

Sad, gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "buyer beware". :(

A few months ago guilty verdicts were handed down to 10+ individuals doing exactly this on eBay. I believe they were selling antiques. The fines and penalties were in the 6 digits and many frauded buyers were reimbursed.

Sad that people turn such a good idea into such a bad thing. :(

You have got to be kidding me! It's obvious this person is not the sharpest tool in the shed! One trip to Hobby Lobby would have saved them at least $45.00!

My guess would be its an old one so therefore probably long since discontinued. also its a PSX stamp and they have recently ceased trading therefore once all these stamps are gone they are gone, personally I wouldnt give you a $ for it LOL not my style.

for someone who is the winning high bidder for over 8 auctions, (another 5 waiting to close) to still have a '0' after her name, and no comments/feedback just screemes of fraud.

And you need to check this out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8174706332

Take a look at the bid history.

I just peeked at the auction. Both the seller and shill bidder are no longer registered users... it looks like she got caught! Excuse me while I gloat. It's so satisfying to see dishonest eBayers removed from the system.

Default Shill bidding

It's called shill billding and is illegal on ebay. If ya notice, the seller and the buyer are now no longer registered users and were booted off ebay for doing it.

What happens is the buyer either gets a friend to overbid on an auction or sets up several accounts and places fake bids with them. Stupid people look at the auction and think "Wow! This is really a hot item! I MUST have it!" and bid on it. The value of the item is artificially inflated.

This time I think she just got mega greedy! Almost fifty bucks for a stamp? Someone must have reported her and she is no longer a seller.
