Default Lovely as a Tree

Somebody PLEASE tell me what is so great about Lovely as a Tree! It seems that either everybody has it or everybody wants it. What is so appealling about it? It seems a bit boring to me...

I'm with you - don't have it. Somebody tell me why I must get it! I do like the one with the bare branches - but I'm unsure what I would do with the others.

Go to the Gallery and check out the myriad of cards you can make with this set.

I thought the same thing when I saw it in the Idea Book and Catalog, until I saw all the wonderful ways you can use!

Just my opinion, of course!

One of my favorite cards is done with Lovely as a Tree: polished stone with copper and forrest foliage then emboss the row of trees in copper. Makes a great guy card.

Go look in the gallery and you will find some wonderful cards. I also thought it was boring until I saw so many beautiful cards. In fact I made my Christmas cards with it.

:shock: :shock: Have you been to the (Lovely as a Tree) gallery? :shock: :shock:

If you haven't you have to go and check out some of the great cards made with that set. I have it and I use to make "guy" cards for dad, brothers, uncles ..........

But, then again, we all have different taste

Not only is it a good guy card - but I used it for thank you notes when my FIL passed away last fall. It also make a great sympathy card when you don't want flowers.

too bad I ordered mine two months ago... I got it because a customer of mine had bought it and needed it mounted and asked me to, so after that I went to the gallery and I got WOW'ed by all the examples there. So far none of mine look that great and I lost interest on the set...maybe now I can play with it again and revive it! :?

Does anyone have any good tree-oriented saying they use in their cards?

Here's a couple:

Today’s mighty oak
is just yesterday’s nut
that held its ground.

The wildflowers of happiness
are often found in the woods of difficulty.

Hope that helps. Linda

Well, I didn't think I would want this set either, but I have been looking at the gallery and there are so many gorgeous cards that people have made with them!! Plus, you can even make a Christmas card with one or more of the trees. Also, I just think its a good masculine option for a man's birthday card (The large Oak tree). :lol:

Default Worth It

That lovely blue brayered one with the resist moon, mmmmm, gorgeous. And at half price, what's there to think about. Too bad I've had mine for a few years. Kathy

I don't get the big deal about this one either - I don't have it and I don't plan on getting it ever. Of course, having said that, I'll end up eating those words some day!!! But as of right this minute, I DON'T LIKE IT! :twisted: Maybe I just haven't seen enough done with it in a style that suits me. All I Have Seen was one I didn't really care for in the SAB catty but now I really like it (got it because it was better than a couple others I could have gotten & figured I needed to be forced out of my comfort zone a little!).

Anyway, I'm off to check the gallery for this one. Maybe I will eat my words sooner rather than later!!

This set combines well with others, too! Don't just check out the Lovely as a Tree gallery....do a "search" for it and you'll see it used in many different ways.

How did it happen that their lips came together?
How does it happen that birds sing,
that snow melts, that the rose unfolds,
that the dawn whitens behind
the stark shapes of trees on the
quivering summit of the hill?
A kiss, and all was said.

Wouldn't that be a perfect scrapbook page verse with Lovely as a Tree and a romantic picture!

I fell in love with this set when I first started stamping a few
years ago. I like it because not only is it great for fall cards, but for all seasons.

I've been using Lovely As A Tree with Summer By the Sea! Makes great cards. I have on up right now with the little girl and the trees in the background. I did a journal with the couple, used the tall pine tree to make it look as if they were staring into a forest. Of course I forgot to get a picture of it! :oops: The trees are great cause they can be put with other sets. Like someone said, do a search for Lovely As A Tree.

Here's a link to one of the cards I made with Lovely as a Tree when Summer by the Sea first came out. I did two others....one with the couple and one with the woman on the edge of the boat. It combines well with all the sets of that style.

I love my tree set - I stamped and embossed with pearlex mixed with embossing powder for a cool effect...I guess this is why they have pages and pages of sets to choose from, my son looked at the sketches set that is on sale and said "thats a little wierd" probaly my first thought when I saw them all in the catalog this summer but now I am thinking I might need the set....

Thanks for all of the great ideas ladies!
I really like the "__ isn't that old...if you're a tree!" saying. I may have to get this set now just so I can make some of those cards. And I suppose I could use it in scrapbooks. I didn't get through all of the 500+ samples in the gallery! But, the waterfall card I saw is pretty cool, as is the "tie a yellow ribbon" card.
Hmmm....

NOT LIKE THAT SET??? I got mine in my starter kit last year, LOVE IT, and am actually thinking about ordering another one at half price JUST IN CASE something happens to the one I have now! (We used this set in a number of workshops/camps, so there is glitter stuck in one and the other is completely black... wood and all!)

How's THAT for in love with the set??

(Oh... and anyone know how to get glitter out of your stamps?!)

I think it's an awesome set for men, sympathy, Christmas, whatever.... I'm glad I waited to get it though, as now I can SAVE! One of the other great things about this set is that it is so classic. Trees never go out of style and the style is classic as well so it's a great investment.

I'm not either of those people. However, I did borrow it a few times from a friend to make a few quick cards. I never wanted it and having it 50% off still didn't do it for me. Although, I have seen & have some great samples using it!

How many stamps come in that set? (I would check the catty, but I'm at work... :twisted: ) I counted three - a set of trees, an oak, and a pine... is there any phrase or anything with it? I'd be surprised if they didn't use the quote from the poem that gives this set it's name...

I think that I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Here is what I've used in the inside w/the oak tree on the front ~ only given to those w/ a sense of humor :lol:

When a tree gets a year older
it makes a growth ring by adding
another layer of tissue
around its girth...
Boy, does that sound familiar.

Happy Birthday.
