Stamping Emergency in the Columbus/Westerville Ohio area
Last night my husband came home and he had volunteered me to make the favors and table decorations for the cub scout Blue and Gold banquet THIS SUNDAY! See, that is where the emergency part comes in. Does anyone in the area have the boy scout set that would loan it to me or sell it to me? Thanks.
I'm sorry I don't have any sets that would work. However, what about using the colors blue and gold (sunshine yellow perhaps?) and do something more general? Or look for templates that could be modified to look cub scout-y? www.bydonovan.com is an awesome template site, they may have something. I'll keep thinking, and if I come with anything I'll post again.
The upside is your husband is proud of your talent and wants to show it off.
Does your banquet have a theme? We always went with centerpieces that cordinated with the theme vs CS symbols. One year it was "The Australian Outback" because we were at the Outback Steakhouse. The next it was a Hawaiian theme. I do love the cute yarn centerpieces from the link posted earlier though!
I wished I lived closer. I just did our Blue & Gold Banquet and used the Scouts at Play set. We did a birthday party theme and I made goodie bags to go at each seat. I made the toppers out of the stamp that had the 3 scouts on it. I also stamped the other images and blew them up on a copier and then colored them in and matted them on Blue and Gold paper. Everyone had a fit and if they still sold that set, my Demo could have made a furtune. If you could tell me what you needed maybe I could stamp some things out for you and send them 2 day mail. I hope this helps.
We just had our Blue & Gold. The boys made 11x14 placemats - decorated for the 75th anniversary (just drew and colored a lot of fun scouty stuff). For favors, they made poppers by stuffing empty toilet paper rolls with blue & sunny yellow paper shreds & chocolate, wrapped them like poppers with blue tissue paper, and tied with blue & sunny yellow curling ribbon. They were cute, cheap, and fast.
I'd just do something simple, and add some helium balloons, and go to your local scout shop & pick up some "I'm Proud of My Scout" bumper stickers, and you're done.
You are so sweet to offer to stamp some things for me! But I will figure something out. I do like the little yarn guys on that web site. Will still see if I can get the stamps somewhere local here. Think it would be way cute to stamp them on shrinky dink and add some beads on leather straps for a little decoration they can clip on to their backpacks. That would also be a good advertisement for scouting at the school. But I did want to thank you for your very generous offer.
I do not have the stamp set you refer to, but I do live in Columbus and I picked up some very nice boyscout themed scrapbook papers last time I was at the Archivers store at Easton Mall. There were several different types and they were all very classy and displayed the emblem and listed typical activities, etc. If I remember correctly, they had a collection covering all the stages of boy scouts and girl scouts. You might try working the paper into your decorations. I don't know how often Archivers turns over stock or how popular such papers might be so you might call first to make sure they still have them before wasting a trip.
We just had our Blue and Gold banquet. For decorations we went with more of a birthday (for the 75th birthday) than cub scouts, although I do have that set and use it all the time!
How about lots of helium filled balloons, blue and gold streamers and colored confetti on the table.
Our local scout office has all kinds of papers and stickers that are cub scout themed (if your budget can stand it!) Good luck - I wish I lived closer to help you out.
